The abundance of different, interesting pastries is what makes this place stand out in this little community. I remember my first time coming here, I had no idea what to get, did not read up on anything about this place, just was waiting for a co-worker who wanted to meet up for coffee at the place next door, and I decided let's go to this place instead, and wanted a little snack, and had their apple & cheese muffin (yes.. this odd combo) and it was history.... now everytime I go here I seldom leave with this item with my coffee. If you are wanting other things this place does have it, from cookies to croissants to a wide arrangement of baked goods, this place will make your taste buds happy. Also if you want to know they serve Illy coffee. It maybe the smaller coffee shop in the area, but it is the better coffee shop in the area too, it is small and cozy and a good place to just sit down and chill. So if you are in Edgemont village make a stop here, and if you have been to the other Bjornbar in Burquitlam, this is the better one!

Everything in the case looked delectable, but we decided upon a large peanut butter-caramel cookie that was still warm from the oven -- and was it ever good. It was made even better with a light sprinkle from the salt shaker. We also shared a Black Forest bar with frosting that tasted a bit refrigeratory; the chocolate sponge cake layers were dry but the cherry filling was tart-sweet and delicious. The patio provided a relaxing space to sit, sip and snack as we watched the denizens of this lovely neighborhood stroll by.

Damn wow! I saw a Sailor Moon cake and cookies at a friend's birthday party and had to find out…read moremore about where she got it. Gamers, movie, cartoon and anime fans alert, you're gonna love this cake designer. Bad Ass Cakes is based in Vancouver, BC. Their Facebook page says their location is in North Vancouver, but their location is actually in the central Vancouver area which is convenient and accessible to everyone. The page is www.facebook.com/forBadAssPeople. I'm a total gamer and anime geek at heart and was excited by what I saw. The creator designs cakes and cookies with themes like League of Legends, Sailor Moon, Iron Man, Star Wars, MineCraft, Portal, etc. He does fashion and regular custom cakes too for weddings and birthdays, and cakes at EXP Restaurant + Bar (another favorite venue of mine). When my gf unveiled the cake at her birthday dinner, all the guests (and myself) were really surprised at how gorgeous the cake and cookies were. The designer made a pink Chibi Moon vanilla cake with pink icing inside, and the exterior was made with fondant. It was high quality tasting fondant, and tasted like a delicious marshmallowy flavor. The fondant was not overly sweet (which other bakeries tend to do) so it paired very nicely with the cake. The cookies were super cute, they were shortbread cookies that were chewy and soft, and the icing was also not overly sweet. Everything tasted good and I highly recommend Bad Ass Cakes, especially to those who love games, anime and movies if you're looking for that extra special custom cake! I want one too now. The photos below are hers, since mine came out too blurry with my crappy phone cam. I received permission to use her photos for my review. I was there physically at the party.

So in honor of that title we ordered a chocolate Popeye cake and left the creativity and design to the discretion of Bad Ass Cakes. We were delighted with the end results. Our cake was made within budget, it was super fun and so delicious! The wedding guests loved it! We will certainly utilize the talents of this cake master again.

The afternoon tea is not very quintessential as their sweets are not petit fours but plain and simple cookies with a couple macarons thrown in. The sandwiches were very bland as well but the coronation chicken salad sandwich is an absolute hit! Honestly, I'd steer away from everything at this place other than that but once you eat that chicken sandwich, you'll be coming back for it as it's quite addictive.

That and I went to the first location only to be told to go to the second one which opened at 10am I waited 30mins and the person showed up. Then I think realized I did not have the patience to wait anymore so she handed me two cookies. When I got home I was given one birds nest cookie and the other one didn't even seem to have anything on it. To be honest it was a very disappointing experience as a whole. I had a bad experience as well the last time I won something so I think I am done trying this place again.

My mom hasn't had traditional Korean shaved ice in ages so she was a little skeptical when she tried this place but she was won over by the generous serving of red bean paste in the shaved ice she received much to her delight. The next day, she wanted to go and have it again! My kids devour their shaved ice dishes every time with their favorite being the strawberry green tea but the mango one being a very close second. The gimbap was generously and deliciously made and all of the ones I've tried are delicious. As for serving size, I think my teenage son was satisfied with one roll but my daughters who are slightly younger get full on less than one roll. Overall, their food is delicious, generous and addictive so beware:). They do use disposable cups/dishes so I may bring my own bowl and dish as a previous Yelper suggested to cut down on waste. It also helps that the service is lovely. The staff is always extremely attentive, kind and cheerful. I think they overheard my mom complaining about the small amount of red bean paste in bingsu dishes she has tried at other places in recent years so I think they put in a little extra for her. This is a small cozy place so be prepared to wait when it's busy.
