Expensive, but the baked goods are oh so good! Service is friendly, and it has a warm, neighborhood feel.

I love vegan treats so I'm kind of surprised it took me so long to visit this bakery. I've tried…read moretheir stuff before at the Vegan Night Market but I visited the storefront for the first time today. It's really small, there's standing room for probably no more than three people inside and no seating, but there are two tables outside. Despite the small size, they have a good selection of both sweet and savoury baked goods. I opted to try the Italian sausage calzone and a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, but there was lots of other things that looked tempting, namely the tiramisu, cookies, coffee loaf cake, and savoury croissants. I thought both of the items I tried were delicious. I was really excited about the calzone because I love calzone but it's really rare to see a vegan version. The calzone was flavourful and saucy inside. The crust looked a little dark on the outside, but was tender inside. I asked for it to be heated and I believe it was heated in an oven instead of a microwave because it didn't get the weird mushy microwave texture. The cheesecake wasn't exactly like I was expecting; the filling was light almost like cream cheese whipped cream rather than a typical thick cheesecake filling, however it was no less tasty because of this. It wasn't too sweet and the tart fruitiness of the raspberry swirl came through well. The slice was huge - easily big enough to share but also manageable for one person (me) who really wants cheesecake. They have a small hot drink menu too with coffee and tea. I got the "traditional chai", which was actually a chai latte made with a teabag and not what I would consider traditional chai, but I did think it was a good chai latte. It had the right balance of brewed tea and milk. I appreciated that they asked my preference for sweetened or unsweetened. Unfortunately they would not make my drink in the personal mug I brought. When I visited their table at the Vegan Night Market, I had a tiramisu cake cup and really enjoyed that. They don't sell the cake cups in the store. I think the prices were very reasonable. The calzone was the most expensive at $8 but was pretty substantial. The cheesecake was $6.25 which was not a bad deal for almost a double serving. $5 for the chai is acceptable. I would recommend checking them out if you like vegan baked goods or if you just want to try something different.

On the festival website, they say to 'pre-order online and via phone. Around a dozen max produced daily'! First of all, how serious are they in participating in this festival when they have such a low number of croissants available, especially on the weekend? On Friday afternoon, I phoned them and left a clear message that I wished to buy one of their special croissants to be picked up by 3 o'clock on Saturday the 8th. It took me 52 minutes to reach Vogue Cakes by transit, and when I arrived at 2:40 PM, I was told they didn't have any croissants left! But even worse, they hadn't checked their phone's voicemail for my order! That is an unacceptable business practice -- I left the bakery empty-handed and super disappointed. DON'T BOTHER GOING THERE.

What a lovely little café/bakery! Emphasis on lovely, and emphasis on little…read more I met a friend here today for a coffee. She lives in the area so has been here many times before. She said the cakes are wonderful and she orders them here for special occasions. Of course, it was all new to me, so I checked out the display of gorgeous cakes and tarts, and the platters of various cookies and pastries, too. The cakes seemed to be priced from $35-50, which I know is on a par with cake pricing in the city. They all looked beautiful. The small tarts looked to-die-for, but they were $9. That's a lot more than the tarts I've seen anywhere else, really, so I steered away from those. I got a croissant for $4 and a chai latte for $4.50. The croissant was ok. Not the fluffiest I've ever had, but okay. The chai latte was fantastic, one of the best I've had, really. And at the cash they had a plate of gold foiled-covered large homemade caramels, and I got two. Just had one just now and OMG, if you like caramel (as I do), you MUST try these. Truly unbelievably good! As I mentioned in my first paragraph, this place is quite tiny. Like, they had three small tables that seat two people each. (Maybe four, but I think three). So if you plan on meeting a friend for coffee here and dining inside, I'd recommend going at an off-time, for sure. (If it's nice out, there'd be some seating outside. But hey, winter is upon us). One added benefit here: there is plenty of free street parking, all around the cafe. Nice!

I've also had their Triple Chocolate Mousse and Hedgehog cakes before, and those are great too. Their cakes are not overly sweet, but still manage to hit the spot for those who like quality sweet treats.

It's a decent place to get a latte and a croissant…read more My boyfriend was happy with his decaf latte and I thought my hojicha latte was just ok - the latter was a bit watery and lacked depth. We ordered a pain aux raisins which was above average although the raisins were scarce, and it needed a bit of salt in the dough to round out the flavours. The chocolate croissant was exemplary; we enjoyed its flaky, crisp layers studded with beautifully rich chocolate, right down to the last crumb. The cafe's interior is spartan in appearance with limited seating: a small communal table and a few tables for two. There's a nice outdoor patio in front for warmer days. 3.5 stars.

My favorite season has arrived -- the Vancouver Croissant Crawl Festival! I visited VIVA cafe…read more What I got: Sweet and Salty Cream Cheese Filling Croissant Cream cheese and chopped green onion and bacon bits. The sweetness of honey and cheddar cheese powder makes it taste more cheesy. The filling was so delicious! Cream cheese and green onion paired so well and taste was so memorable. It was more savory flavor which I really liked. Dough was not usual croissant dough, it had a crispy layer dough and it was different from other vendors. It was really good. One of the best item in croissant festival. I want to get it again. Hopefully, they offer this item after the festival. Highly recommend.
