Which is probably why the original owners attempted to convert it to gas. We wanted wood, not gas, and we wanted to get the 26% federal income tax credit. So we visited A Fireplace Store and More and spoke to the woman working there. She set up a date for Rony to come out and give us an estimate. Rony showed up on time and we settled on a modern high efficiency biomass fireplace insert that qualifies for the credit. Parts and labor was not cheap, but we wanted a quality appliance and this business has decades of experience, which we also wanted. We put down a deposit and set the installation day, which was today. Rony and his team showed up on time, worked quickly, did good quality work and cleaned up afterwards. Rony explained how to use the new fireplace and was all done in a matter of 3-4 hours. Very happy with our purchase and service and we can't wait until we can use it this winter.

Got our fireplace upgraded last November just in time for the holidays and we have had a winter and early spring filled with nice ambiance in our den. The whole installation process only took about 4 hours from installing the gas line, putting in the gas logs, sweeping our chimney and painting the interior box. They came out a few weeks later and got our nice new glass doors installed replacing our dated old 80s brass ones. So efficient and couldn't be more satisfied!

We brought a quote from another company to Russ to evaluate and get a second opinion. Not only did he come in about 30% lower than the competitor, he was honest and forthright about what would be best for our situation. He did not try to sell us something more expensive or a set that would not work for our home. He answered every question and allowed us time to discuss the decision between ourselves. When we decided to have them do the install, he was able to get everything done in a timely fashion. The technician who installed the unvented gas log burner did a great job. He protected our floor while working and cleaned up everything. He offered to take away the grate that was used for burning wood. He let my husband know all the details for using the remote, leaving the glass doors open, etc. It heated our entire house so well that we had to turn it off for a while! We are incredibly happy with the fireplace and our choice to go with a family-owned, local business.

Slightly different, but led to a great resolution to me. I had one highly reviewed fireplace co out to service a 20 yo Heatilator. They became quickly frustrated, offered solutions that were in the thousands, and very cautious about a simple rebuild. I called Southwest. At first my radar goes up about prepaying before I even get a scheduler to call...but went with my gut to trust them. Glad I did. Their tech was not only cordial, but really knowledgeable about the unit and repairs. Despite all the challenges presented by my Heatilator he felt it would be repairable, vs a replacement, and be like new. When parts arrived (same process of prepay for parts before scheduling) they came out again and I had basically a brand new fireplace that looked even better than when new. Get past their process (in your own mind) and you will be very happy with the results!!

We had originally scheduled to have them come out late 2021, and rescheduled a few weeks later. Pricing had gone up for the new year, but Pattie was willing to honor the original price quoted to us which was great. Fast forward to the day of the scheduled service, and Al is the serviceman scheduled to come out. He shows up right on time for our scheduled appointment. After grabbing gear and mask, I point him over to our fireplace to let him get to work. After inspecting the chimney, he mentions that it's clean and doesn't need to be serviced. Talk about honesty. He could've easily just gone through the motions and taken my money and I wouldn't have known the difference. Anyways, he ended up just doing an overall inspection which seemed pretty thorough, checking the cover opens and closes, testing the gas igniter, ash dump area, and visually inspecting the structure from inside and out. Only recommendation was for a chimney cover, which he quoted for but was not pushy and gave me time to think about it. Anyways, appreciated the honesty and professionalism.
