I loved the fact that a) he responded at all vs just ignoring the request, b) was upfront and honest about his timeline vs just taking the job and overextending himself. Once I told him that we were in no rush, and would be happy to wait, he proceeded to text back and forth with me helping me get an idea as to what the job might cost. He made recommendations about plants, etc....and all this without officially having secured my business. Towards the end of July, I reached back out to see what his timeline looked like. Again, he responded almost immediately. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner, and said he would come out to measure the area, and discuss the job in more detail. In my mind, he had absolutely nothing to apologizing for. He set a date to come out, came out exactly at the time he promised, and helped us figure out what would look good. He provided a written, detailed estimate, which he adhered to...we paid exactly what he quoted. On the day of the job, he showed up as promised and on time. He laid out all of the plants, and allowed us to move them around several times until we got everything exactly the way we wanted it. His team worked quickly and neatly. The end results are amazing! Anyhow, landscaping services are basically maintenance and will do what you ask. I had an idea in my head of what we (read what I) wanted, and needed someone to be honest with what was doable, and how much maintenance I really wanted outside spring and fall. We had paid 2 other landscape designers for plans, neither hit the mark. Out of desperation I did a Google search. Some wouldn't work with us for under 50K, claimed was doing homes in our neighborhood for 100K+. We're not taking a loan out for landscaping! Anyhoo, Jerry was on my list. I haven't seen him around like others with trucks and such over the years, and I'm SO sorry it took so darn long. My neighbors were not happy with the sad shape of landscaping we tried to install over the last few years, so we needed to do something. Long story, bear with me as landscaping is permanent and expensive. Jerry comes along. Listens to my crazy ideas. Asks me how much personal time I want to maintain or pay for weekly maintenance, very little to none I said. He adapted what I wanted to something that was doable and freaking beautiful! Not only that, what he couldn't use of what we had up front, he set up in our sad looking yard, and my breath was taken away. Simple, but beautiful and now I can easily build upon myself. But I'm wiser now, so will call Jerry back. I drove home the opposite way for weeks just so I could take a good long look at all that was done. I couldn't look at it enough! We were able to get our deck demolished, a stamped concrete patio, and a fire pit and sitting wall all for good value. I'm satisfied with the way everything turned out. I'm glad that they used dirt to level the patio with the grass surrounding it. My only complaint is that once they began construction, it took 17 days to complete the entire project. I wasn't expecting it to take as long as it did, but they were working on other jobs at the same time. It wasn't a super big issue for us, but some communication about the timeline could have helped. The company took care of the permit process for us. They seem skilled in their work. I'm happy our patio turned out the way we wanted it to.
