We were in Bozeman for a couple of weeks and I went with three separate groups just to show it off. The breakfast food was really good - the huckleberry jam and bread were great. We were hoping this was going to be more like Japanese karaage chicken and were a bit disappointed. The cauliflower 'wings' was fried cauliflower with three sauces - cheesy, buffalo, Asian. The brussel Caesar was also surprisingly fried and OK. Blackened salmon is likely good, although overwhelmed by all the other fried flavors of evening. I spent 7 days in Montana with my 4 teenagers. That paints a picture for you right? How hard are teenagers to impress? They know it all, right? Being a Yelper, you know I had the 7 days teed up with amazing eats morning to night. Fast forward to day seven on the drive to the airport to come home and I ask the question "Name your favorite restaurant of the trip." Two of the teenagers immediately piped up and unanimously said Revelry! What a review! Out of allllllll the eats I teed up for them they put Revelry at the top. We stopped in at an off time (running late from an event) and caught their happy hour from 3-6. Excellent menu that made it hard to choose. The stars were the frites and cheese app (must order), the white pie, the spicy meat pie, and the perfect burger. Top that off with a delicious Rose and beer and it just doesn't get any better. Went here for lunch, ordered the Japan Chicken for an appetizer, and the Giardino, both to split with my husband. The chicken was sweet, spicy, and beautifully plated with the cucumber/pickles in a circle around the meat. The pizza was made with white sauce, but we asked for some marinara on the side just to try it. The marinara was a highlight, it's so thick, it's almost like a salsa. Our pizza was tasty, I could tell the ingredients were fresh, but I wish I had opted for a red pie. The restaurant itself is sunlit, and our friendly bartender was attentive. The atmosphere of this place is really nice and does make you want to eat here. It'll be extremely busy on a Friday night, which means it will also be very loud. They sell beer, wine, and ciders. They do not have any liquor. This was a bummer, but not every restaurant needs liquor, I get it. The on tap beer I got was $9. That's kind of ridiculous when on tap beer almost always costs $6-$7. I got a burger and I would say that the burger was just okay. It was nothing special and it wasn't extremely juicy (medium), but it was $20. The steak fries given with it are also nothing special. This is definitely an easy, cheap meal you could make at home twice in the amount of time you wait to be seated here. The indoor, but really still outdoor seating area is kind of strange. I see why they need it for space and it's warm enough. It's just odd since the restaurant is going for a fancier vibe than some other restaurants. The service was okay. Our waiter didn't really talk to us much until he handed us the check, which we waited for longer than we wanted to. I'm happy I got to eat here once, but I don't think I'll be visiting again. We walked the nearby streets for over 30 minutes and saw plenty of other less busy restaurants. Overall, I would say that this place is worth visiting when it's not busy and you have the money. It is not worth waiting an hour for. There is not really anything memorable long term from this experience. read more

I am a huge fan of beets but my husband isn't so we were a bit on the fence if it was the right item to share- but the pesto really did mellow out the beet flavor making it a hit with us both. A bit too much for my liking but chicken was still good and super juicy. For main dish we got Tavern Burger and White Pie to share. The burger was cooked to perfection as we asked for it to be cooked medium. The buns were super soft and not dry and everything with the cheese to the mushrooms and onions just go so well together. The pizza was probably my favorite. It was drizzled with garlic honey and omg sooo good! Each pizzas are made to order so it's super fresh! While sitting at Barley & Vine I texted my son a photo of the wine I'd ordered. "What, no Montana wine?" came his response to my drinking a nice Cab from Paso Robles. If Montana - Bozeman specifically - has any faults at all I guess it could be their lack (so far) of locally produced wine. Lucky for everyone in Bozeman though, Barley & Vine makes up for that with truly amazing food; food that pairs perfectly with wine. I've had millions of Brussel Sprouts ($9) in my time but none as tasty as those served up here. As others rush to Mexico City to consume - then create knockoffs of - Contramar's Tuna Tostada, chefs should be making pilgrimages to Barley & Vine to decode the flavor profile of this dish (hint: miso caesar and Pecorino). With each forkful I was picking up what I assume were croutons, sprouts, and Pecorino chunks and I couldn't keep my fork off that plate. Best sprouts ever. Then the next dish came, a Burrata special which sounded unique because it was. Who would have thought that lacing the plate and the burrata with a rich, chunky chili oil would lend such excitement to this dish? Served with lightly charred, cheese-dusted pita this dish was as winning as the sprouts. A Pancetta Pizza topped off my time here and though it was simple perfection I wish I'd opted for one of the more creatively executed dishes as it's clear the chef here has very good ideas about what brings out the best in the food being served. Barley & Vine might be a perfect spot for wine but while you're there do not miss the food or you'll be missing out big time. read more

Hotel guests told me that the pizza here was the best around. I am from New Haven, CT, so I am the biggest pizza snob you will meet. Of course, that meant I had to try the best pizza around! I came for a late lunch during the week, and they were slammed. Keep in mind, this was the week of July 4th, and some people mentioned it was much busier than usual. I sat in the corner of the bar and watched as all the staff hustled as quickly as possible. My pizza did take a long time, but it was comparable timing to others around me. My Margherita pizza was delicious and could stand up to any New Haven pizza shop. I ate two pieces and took the rest back to the hotel. I would never normally reheat pizza in a microwave, but my hotel room left me no option. I only wish I could have enjoyed my leftovers in a toaster oven!
