I am completely in love with Retro Ranch. I recently re-visited them and was overwelmed at their new LARGER and more AFFORDABLE selection. Sure, I could scrimmage around town and attempt to find great vintage items at local Goodwills, but gosh darn it who has the time?! Or energy?! They have great household items and furnishings and prices that are cheaper than Ikea (and original era items not inspirations). The staff was extremely friendly and the environment was overall comfortable to shop in. I'm having a 70's roller disco party for my 30th birthday and I've been searching high and low for their perfect outfits for my husband and I. We made our way to phoenix because that seems to be the best part of town for vintage shopping and I'm soo happy we did! I walked in and was in heaven!!! They have an amazing assortment of all things vintage! Clothes, furniture, art etc!! If you are looking for something special that's hard to find anywhere else you should come check this place out!! Sitting in Hotel Valley Ho as 'Bye Bye Birdie' plays in the background. Surveying the treasure trove taken from the Ranch this morning: two mid-century modest wall prints; similar 'vase-like' 3d art; a manners book dating back to the mid-60s; a metal A+W thermos with glass insert; and some weird little ice crushing spoon. My parents never bought Eames--but Eames like. For those of us who made it through the 1960s and 1970s, Retro Ranch offers the pungent odor of our collective pasts. The ashtrays and 'I Dream of Jeannie' decanters. Owls and umber uber alles. Cats eyes and bars for ties. Such is the stuff of our dreams and a unique opportunity to go home again. All of the nostalgia feels when I walk in here. This place is to the max! Funky, cool vibe where you'll find furniture, jewelry, shoes, records, clothing, accessories and an ton of more stuff! To the left is all the clothes galore! Belts, hats, scarves, shoes, dresses, coats, too much to name. As you walk in your enter you want to get down a boogie and dance your way through the store. Coming from an avid shopper, and someone who LOVES antiquing, go here. Seriously. It almost feels as though you walk into a corner and you've been transported to some time in the past. This store doesn't even deserve one star! My daughter and I were having a perfect day until we entered this store. The clerk looked about 40sh but dressed like she was 20. She had something on top of her head I just couldn't figure it out. She was rude and was making accusations that this store is exclusive and we needed to go to GoodWill. She continued to tell us that people from all over the world come to this store because of their merchandise and that its an exclusive store. I got the impression she was profiling my daughter and I. This was so humiliating that it has open my daughter's eyes to see how in human a person could be. DON'T GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE HARASSED! read more

I was really excited to check this place out, but when we arrived about 5 minutes after the opening time (11am Saturday), they still weren't open. We decided to have lunch and then come back. It was almost 12 and they still weren't open. I would've loved to spend some money in there and get something special for my birthday, but they just weren't open on time. I was doing the First Friday thing last night,and wandered in here. They had live entertainment to clebrate their 2 year anniversary. There was a good crowd and it soon became apparent why. The performer was Jackie Fontaine. Okay,I said "Who"?too. I have to tell you,this guy was fun,funny and kept a perfect pace. He was hosting a spin the wheel gme show where everyone who wanted to play got a chance and everyone who played won something. The store was much fun as well. If you like stuff from the 70's,this is the place for you. If you really need to replace your photo of a nude Burt Reynolds in repose,they have it here! Miss your Marsha Brady polyesther? Here. I took a mini trip to Phoenix and wanted to check out some local shops. I really enjoyed Retro Ranch. The selection was great and the setup was even nicer.. how the colors of all the items went together and matched with each piece. The sales lady was friendly and they had a great selection of home wares and vintage clothes. Prices were moderate.. some things seemed steep. Luv! Luv luv Retro Ranch! Fun Funky stuff for a reasonable price. I never leave without purchasing atleast a little something. Music is awesome thanks to the quirky sales staff. Service is friendly without being clingy. There is a ton of kitschy cool stuff and it takes a while to let it soak in. After the take over last year it is deffinitely a more fun atmosphere. Crazy awesome clothing section! I can deffinitely see why they got best of phoenix for that! It is smaller then Hollywood Regency but packed to the gills with great finds at shockingly low prices. I so want the red 70s Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress! Vintage records and the retro stereo equipement to play it on. Who knew a stereo could be so sexy? Oh and please will somebody loan me money for the huge bamboo tiki bar? Put the Harry Belafonte record on, grab some of their groovy tiki mugs and the Mai Tai's are on me! read more

Beautiful mid-century modern furniture, housewares and clothes, at outstanding prices. I left with a great dress and vintage ashtray. And the staff are incredibly nice. OMG...I found the most gorgeous, red 1940's/50's jacket I've ever seen...and yes, I bought it! It was soooooo inexpensive. If it was new, on the rack, it would cost hundreds. What a fantastic buy. The lady who worked there was wonderful, friendly and helpful. They have great furniture, a few books, nice glassware, and the list goes on. Madmen? uh, yeah! Retro Ranch is cool. It's smaller than many of the other shops on Melrose but the selection is truly RR. They've always got some excellent item in the window that really draws you in and, once inside, you can't help but pursue every section of the store because, hey, it's more fun when you aren't sifting through junk to find the treasures. read more

I love this place. I found everything I was looking for .... gloves ... hats ... dresses and earrings.

Overpriced for the quality. This shop is expert at staging. We bought a vintage sofa and the upholstery nails were popping out by the parking lot. The 'vintage' piece has new wood. The upholstery buttons on another chair pop out if they snag on your clothes. Spent 50 percent more than I could have at a furniture liquidator because I thought these were unique and lasting pieces. They are crap glossed over to sell at high prices. If it's going to fall apart on a year I could have saved a load of money and gotten furniture that I expected to last a year. read more

I love this store. The vintage clothing is supreme. Heavy in theater quality pieces, so for me I love it because I love bling. For men and women the clothes picked are beautiful and have glam. They are concentrated in the 60's and 70's. I love the time periods they cover, and each item is in impecable shape. I have noticed when they have had bathing suits, they will carry items that are very rare, and very popular, the 60's mod, the bondgirl bikini, the gidget era styles. Now beyond the clothing, the store has a very wide selection of vintage housewares, furniture, and luggage. They have AMAZING decorative items, and the items are very modern, and in great shape. The selection can vary greatly, but I got a terrific deal here on a pair of gorgeous chairs at a VERY good price. Delivery was sort of a joke (I did the work but wound up paying nominally for it), but the low price on my chairs made up for it. I always stop in, and am waiting for another treasure to emerge. I am a big fan of this place, either to stop in on a slow Sunday just to see what they have. Their stock rotates pretty frquently so always new interesting things to find. So far I've bought a vintage print, an awesome dress that I have received tons of compliments on, cool earrings, and some other kitchen items. The staff are always friendly. I have gotten a few of my favorite dresses here, but like any vintage clothing, the sizing can run much smaller so be sure to try it on. Not impressed. Arrived in a Friday morning at 11am and was surprised to find take store closed. Saw someone in the store but I am (assuming) they didn't see me. Sat in my car for 5 mins and was pulling out when a woman unlocked the door. I pulled back in and asked her if the mannequins in the window were for sale. She was very snotty and said "no, they are working girls!". Not friendly or welcoming in the least so I decided not to stay and shop. The store also has a strong smell of cigarettes. Won't go back. Other vintage and antique shops on 7th are friendlier and open on time. read more
