Dining room table and chairs from US
    Megan M.

Located prominently on Camelback just east of Rosie's, Urban Southwest is one of those places you drive past all the time but have never gone to. After finishing a 7th Ave. junk shop run one Saturday afternoon, we were heading home when my SO said, "What about that place? It looks kinda cool..." One quick illegal U-turn later, and we're parked on the side of the building. I can already see all kinds of cool shit made from scrap (okay, "reclaimed"/"salvaged") wood and I'm stoked! The space is indeed made up of an old house with hodgepodge additions, and it's literally a maze of hidden surprises. The word "Southwest" had always put me off because it conjures up way too many mental images of turquoise kokopellis and Indian blankets and shit. It's really a misnomer in this case; nary a single cheesy touristy item is to be seen. There's so many finalists for my revered dining room table spot, I can barely narrow it down. I end up deciding on the perfect table, which I learn is made from wood salvaged from an old house demolished locally. The owner, Nick, steered us towards these really nice looking faux-leather chairs for the table and gave us a pretty good deal on them too. The only catch was that he only had two and so we had to wait.... and wait.... and wait.... for the others to come in. Sort of a pain in the ass but Nick offered to lend us other chairs till we had the full set of four. Very fun and eclectic place with unique items at all price points -- from $25 picture frames to completely over the top but amazingly unique leather lounge chairs that may or may not cost the equivalent of the annual GDP of a small 3rd world country. Not that I would know anything about the latter. Nope.

Very unique place. I love the fact that they use local woods and metals stuff to create one of a kind piece. We bought two stools that we are using as an end table and everytime we look at it we love it! We also requested a custom made gift for a friend. Cant wait to see what it looks like!

Awesome store and even better people. We bought a vintage industrial crank table with reclaimed cedar top in a basket weave pattern. Nick worked closely with us to make sure the stain was just the right color. Thanks for the awesome service.

Bold elegance very large custom canvas painting. In person it's amazing.

In general I enjoy looking at vintage shops, and there are many interesting, unique items here. I noticed there are some really cool, great mid-century modern furniture pieces here, which I love, but not at my price point. Great to admire though. There were also other vintage items such as art pieces, clothing, shoes, jewelry, and some random things. I didn't think I would buy anything, but I found a cute southwest metal wind chime that had a nice patina after years of exposure. It is embossed with "1989, The Metal Man". I hung it out last night and it looked great against a beautiful sunset. It has a gentle chime sound, compared to come other chimes I have it. I love it. Definitely worth taking a stroll into the shop before or after a meal at Valentine. Never know what you'll find.

They have GORGEOUS home decor and other essentials but at a pretty hefty price tag! I actually thought the store would be a tad bigger than it is since the building is so big from the outside. I was able to walk it and get a general sense for what they have in about 5 minutes. They had cute Arcadia totes for $60, candles were around $40, and other various end tables, napkins, table settings, pillows, wood beads, bowls, baskets, etc. A great selection of neutral/timeless pieces. Unfortunately I didn't purchase anything because I couldn't let myself spend that much money for small-ish items but it was fun browsing. If I had all of the money in the world, I would definitely shop here regularly! Their pieces are totally my style. :) The lady working was super friendly and even offered me a water while I was shopping. All in all, a nice addition to the neighborhood.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in and there was a coffee and tea sample section. I sampled the vanilla lavender latte and it had a very pleasant floral taste.
