I have recently had my first ever chiropractic care and I'm happy to have visited Max Living. Since it was my first time at the chiropractor, I didn't know what to expect which sparked some nerves walking in. But all my nerves were put to ease by how friendly, welcoming, and informative all the staff was. For my first initial appointmentsI have been in the care of Dr. Alcorn who is very informative and makes sure you are as comfortable as possible. He informed me of what he was adjusting, how he was doing it, and reassured I was comfortable with the pressures while he was adjusting. With the little interaction I've had with the other doctors, they are just as informative and great. The office staff is extremely friendly and reassuring. Before your next appointment, you will always know what to expect and what to expect to pay. You won't be surprised with additional costs, they always go over what to expect at your future appointments, which I really liked. After the first initial appointments, which include x-rays, I had 1 adjustment and then scheduled an appointment to review the x-rays with a doctor and go over the treatment plan. Like others have stated in here, I first heard about this place (They were at a different location, but same company) on the radio. I called and got an appointment set up. I went, and it was a very nice place. However, what threw me off was the church music in different rooms and people listening to "Dr. Wilson" on replay over the speakers in the common area. They "test you", and sure enough, there's always something wrong with you where you HAVE to get this treatment. Anyway, saw a chiropractor and spoke with him for a bit. He then wanted to do an adjustment, which I was fine with. He then prayed over me and the adjustment lasted about 30 seconds. He then said my wife (who was not a patient) needed to come back with me to do a group therapy session. I was like "What??!". It has a very cult-like vibe to it and I never went back. But one thing is sure, they WILL call you incessantly to try to get you to come back. I've since found a legitimate chiropractor and told him the story. He said he's heard of that place and has actually had some of their ex-patients cone in and tell him the same thing. He thought it was very odd as well. I previously attended a different MaxLiving location in Greensboro, NC and loved it. I was initially nervous switching after moving back home to Indy, but I was quickly reminded why I love MaxLiving so much. Not only is the space clean, inviting, and spacious, but the staff are so great. I'm greeted warmly with a smile and by name every time I check-in. I feel acknowledged, seen, and heard every time I'm adjusted. I love how this practice is X-Ray informed, and so I have the visuals to support how I'm feeling but also how I've progressed. I am thankful I found MaxLiving April 2020 when I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. Dr. Nick Wilson was speaking on WIBC about how most doctors cover up disease with drugs instead of finding the root cause and treating it. That is what I wanted - no drugs and to be & feel healthy! 2 years and 9 months later I no longer have Osteoporosis - I give credit to God, MaxLiving, and myself for this reversal. My doctor, I had been seeing for 30 years, told me I would have it for the remainder of my life; she said there is no reversing it. Needless to say I found a new family physician, got serious about exercise and what I was putting into my body, and kept going to MaxLiving. Dr. Scott is great, he has been working on another issue I have been experiencing, he always asks questions to see how I am coming along while doing my evaluation and adjustment. With his help I am experiencing this condition less and less each week. Dr. Erich and Dr. Alcorn are also very attentive and caring. I love how all 4 doctors really care! Everyone in their office is helpful. I just finished their Max Metabolic testing. I am very happy with my results and so was Dr. Wilson. I already could tell a difference in how I feel, look and sleep. The scientific results showed the lifestyle changes I have made were working. It wasn't easy. It has all been worth it. Today is only the 2nd time I have seen Dr. Wilson. He did a great job explaining what I am doing right and what still needs attention. He took the time to explain things so I understand. He gave me some resources to get clear answers about supplements. The first warning you are going to get that this outfit is not on the up and up is when the quacks try to sell you a prepaid package of treatments. No true medical professional is going to charge you up front, but that seems to be SOP for chiropractors. My wife was trying to stave off back surgery and heard these people on the radio. She wanted to try it and not wanting to deny her the hope I went along with it even though I have never heard of anyone cured by chiropractic. (Helped, yes. But you have to keep going, and paying, for the rest of your life and that is not a cure.) After nine months of treatment in which she faithfully did everything asked of her (including forking over a few thousand dollars) she was actually worse, although they insisted she was better. She based her conclusion on the pain she felt, which seems reasonable to me. They based theirs on how straight her spine was. Who cares if their spine is straight when you are in so much pain you can't walk across the street? (It turned out, after an MD back specialist examined, and significantly helped her in one visit, her problem had nothing to do with a straight spine.) I used to have coffee once a week with a chiropractor who openly admitted to me he would have patients come back for multiple visits even when they weren't being helped. These guys fit the mold. Yes, they will probably help you eat right, get you exercising, and teach you a healthy lifestyle that might help your body improve. But they are not a panacea for whatever ails you as they hold themselves out to be. And trusting them to take care of you could harm a lot more than your wallet. They had the inviting radio program on WIBC radio and I called for the initial visit for $88 but when I went the first time I also got an adjustment I wasn't expecting. The price went up since that wasn't part of the initial price. I went back for the analysis review. They had a plan to help repair the way my cervical vertebrae were curving. My lumbar were also less than in line too. I initially went because I was having my thumb and two fingers going numb some time after 3 AM. I'd get up and they would go to normal. After about two weeks I was in pain from the aggressive adjustments that I let them know. There are five chiropractors that I know of and you take a number after doing the warm up. That determines which chiropractor you'll get. After letting them know about the pain they put the one on my case that designed my program. The pain trying to sleep got even greater. I told him I wanted to take a break because I couldn't even tuck my shirt in. I called the following Monday to say I had to quit and go to a doctor. They wanted to keep charging me but after working with the accountant which is the owner's wife she agreed to stop charging me. I have numbness in my hands 24 hrs a day now. I have gone to my primary care physician for nerve meds and referral to a neurosurgeon after having and MRI of my cervical and upper thoracic vertebrae. They said they could not see anything that surgery would help but told me an EMG might find out more about why the nerves would bother me all day and night. I did that and the EMG amplified the electrical feeling in my hands. I am currently going physhical therapy sessions and have a shot in my wrist from pain surge up my thumb. I believe the EMG cause that. So I have shoulder and hand pain 24 hours a day. If I had known I never would have gone there. I must add that all the staff were very pleasant people and don't have anything bad to say about them. I believe the aggressive adjustments are what has me messed up for lack of a better way to say it. read more

My experience with Indy Family Chiropractic MaxLiving has been exceptional. When I first entered, I was astounded at how organized they were! No wait time. Each employee had specific jobs: check in; appointment/s; help on what and how I was to begin (sitting on a wobbler cushion, and doing warmup exercises) and taking a number; one or two people to direct me to a treatment room (1 of 6 or 7) my first time I was shown to type in my phone number which brought up my x-rays, there are numerous Chiropractors and I think this is notification I am in a treatment room; Dr Traci Gross shortly comes in talks with me, gives me an adjustment, and we talk a little more and told me I had home care exercises; another person took me into a smaller private room where she gave me a large tote bag full of the equipment I was to use at home and demonstrated each prescribed exercise I was to do, and thank goodness there is a video on line I can watch for doing each exercise; there are others to help me with anything I might need (I had a lot of trouble getting the weighted head crown to fit properly, 3 separate times I was helped with the correct fitting; helpers observing and helping others with various exercises involving equipment. I was mostly amazed at how positive everyone was, smiling, personal greetings, and departures. This is a lot and I hope I haven't missed anyone. Also, a meeting with my Mom, sister, and I with Dr. Gross giving thorough explanations (I have Parkinson's and my sister is my POA, Mom watches over my insurance). At this point, I have had two weeks of adjustments and can honestly say I'm feeling some relief! I can hardly wait to see a new x-ray compared to the first set. Eight weeks ago, I hobbled into Indy Family Chiropractic with chronic back pain, headaches, and a complete inability to lose weight. I walked out that day feeling significantly better. Since then, I have followed his suggestions and changed my diet. I also have about 15 minutes of daily exercises to strengthen my back and neck. My headaches are gone, I am steadily losing some extra weight, and my back is steadily improving. Instead of just trying to survive each day, I feel that my life has purpose.
