I started coming to Compass Chiropractic back in August. Since I was a teenager, my shoulder has caused some aches and pains due to the sports I played (volleyball, gymnastics, diving). I pushed off seeing anyone because it was mild pain off and on, but decided to finally try out a chiropractor. Not only have they helped relieve the pain through adjustments, but also work to help patients leave with stretches and exercises to do to ensure the pain stays mild or goes away inbetween adjustments. The first appointment was a bit longer as they did some evaluating. Following appointments are quick and effective. I will admit, I was an absolute skeptic about chiropractic. I thought it was something "quacks" practiced. However, I was absolutely desperate to relieve my pain, and medical doctors, x-rays, and an MRI had done nothing to help. I ended up just googling chiropractors in Indianapolis, and ended up at Compass because of the good reviews. Dr. Bingham and the rest of his staff are miracle workers. My pain went away completely for the first time ever. It is a very science-based office. There's no "let's read your aura" chiropractic going on, which makes me feel so much more comfortable. The in-house masseuses are fantastic. They are there to help relieve your pain in tandem with chiropractic and physical therapy (also in-house) and it works. It's not the most relaxing massage you will ever have, and sometimes it hurts a tiny bit, but it's supposed to. The masseuses are experts in how to heal muscles that have been stressed from carrying the burden of mis-aligned bones. Many insurance companies will cover the massages since they are not spa treatments, but are medically necessary to relieve pain. Doctor Bingham considers the massages and the physical therapy as important as chiropractic, and I think that approach is what makes the results last, rather than just temporary fixes. read more

I have been a patient of Compass for a few years now. They've treated me for back, knee, foot, and thigh (nerve) pain. I'm the type of patient that goes to the Chiro when I'm injured as opposed to regular adjustments. A typical appointment (after diagnosis) for me would be to start on a roller table for 5 or so minutes to stretch out my back. Then I go to Dr. B and get adjusted for a few minutes. He claims I have "loosey goosey" joints so it does not take long. Then I go see Aaron for some PT like post treatment exercises. What I really like about Compass is their focus on getting you back into alignment partnered with strengthening or stretching exercises to prevent the problem from happening again. Let's not forget how awesome Whitney at the front desk is, she's a scheduling and insurance running wizard. I would highly recommend all of them! read more

I had a pretty nasty fall a couple of months ago and wasn't sure if I was going to be able to lift weights again. The doctor I had gone to see at an urgent care clinic would only prescribe pain killers and "rest," and it seemed to just be making things worse. Coincidentally around the time this all happened, a few articles popped up on NPR about how there were 0 correlation between medical imaging and recovery time and that the best way to recover from a back injury is well... *not* resting constantly. So I ditched *that* doctor and decided to go elsewhere for a more proactive approach. I don't really have a solid opinion on chiropractics... many people I know swear by it. Others claim it's "snake oil." I don't really feel either way, but I know that going here has helped me dramatically in regaining mobility and I was back in the gym setting PRs after 2 visits. I have never heard of a chiropractic office Choosing not to accept medicaid. Maybe I just haven't lived in Indianapolis long enough. Every single chiropractor I have ever been to accepted medicaid, no problem. I have worked in insurance. It does not require any extra effort. The doctor simply chooses not to deal with that kind of client, I guess. I wouldn't trust or want to be seen by a doctor who calls himself a chiropractor and clearly lacks compassion. I suppose I'll have to leave the illustrious '220 zip code to find a chiropractor that isn't classicist. read more
