The reason I gave 2 stars is bc they ONLY care about money. For people as rich as they are you would think they could give back a little and accept some Medicaid patients but they are EXTREMELY revenue driven. EVERYONE should have access to real healthcare. I honestly never felt better in my life but after I ran thru thousands of dollars I could no longer afford treatment and sadly my health has declined to where it was before. It is really sad the working poor either have to spend our life savings or resort to regular doctors driven by pharmaceuticals. read more

While traveling in INDY on business, I needed an urgent visit to a local chiropractor. After calling a few different options, I found Dr Prather's office via Yelp and they were willing to work me into their morning schedule. His staff was very friendly and welcoming, they called my insurance provider to validate my information before I actually arrived at the office. The initial exam with the NP was complete and on point. Next was physical therapy room for some preliminary stretches - the team was very helpful and worked as a team. Dr. Prather stopped in to examine my situation. He was instructing and teaching his staff as he was asking me questions - I felt like I had everyone's focus. He provided a steroid injection for the piriformis muscle to relax and begin to reverse the inflammation. Next was the massage therapy room to work the steroid around the entire affected area. Lastly was the chiropractic adjustment which reset my hips and lower back to their normal positions. This was very gentle and painless. Immediately after the adjustment I was free from all nerve pain. The muscle pain was still present but also expected due to the inflammation in that muscle. Walking out of the office I felt relieved and ready to return to the office to continue my day. The entire visit lasted no more than 45 minutes!! In all I had at least 4 or 5 staff members working on me in sequence while Dr. Prather supervised and guided the entire experience. Each staff member was pleasant and knowledgable and a joy to chat with as they worked on me. I returned the next day for a follow up adjustment and had great progress towards walking normally again. I'm very satisfied with the care and treatment I received at this office and I'll certainly stop back to this office when I'm in Indianapolis for business!! PLEASE READ BEFORE FREQUENTING THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Background: In early summer 2013, I was going for treatment here. When Dr Prather's treatment wasn't working as he anticipated, he recommended that his NP inject lidocaine into my neck to alleviate pain. He told me that, by law, he cannot do injections. He said there would be 6 injections. 3 on each side of the neck. Day of injection: Injections 1-5 went well. The NP and I chatted while she was doing them. Injection 6 did not go well. Soon after the injection, I told the NP that something was wrong. As my throat began to feel strange, I realized I could hardly swallow. Breathing had become difficult. The right side of my body began to shake. She brought in oxygen and placed the mask over my face. She said she turned the machine to the highest oxygen saturation. It did nothing. The NP told me that there was "no epi-pen and no crash cart." She asked me if I needed her to call 911. I nodded yes. I could see Dr Prather walk by my room a couple times, but NEVER ONCE did he come in to check on me. Paramedics arrived and I was transported to the hospital. In the ambulance, there were no sirens at first. Then when the paramedics could no longer hear "wind movement" in my lungs, the sirens went on and we were flying. What happened: The hospital doctors stated that the drug was most likely shot into a nerve that shut down my ability to swallow, use my tongue and breathe deeply. It also caused the right-side shaking. Staying alive: I knew that I was in deep trouble. I knew that if I panicked I would die. So, I started shallow breathing (nasal only), stayed calm in my head, and stopped talking. Recommendation: If you need an injection for pain management, go to a Board Certified MD or Pain Management Specialist. read more

Visited Prather for my first experience with acupuncture. I had a groupon which made it an extremely reasonable price. The acupuncture was surprisingly easy and did release the tension in shoulders from sitting at a desk. The front office staff were extremely friendly but I felt the front exam spaces were cold and too well lit to actually relax. I can now mark it off my list of things I've tried but it didn't inspire me to incorporate as part of my wellness routine. read more

These people are crooks. "Dr" Prather is not a MD. He poses as one. It's the same routine. Go in, get some lackluster testing done, leave with a bag full of stuff that empties your pocket. You'll also be told that it's highly recommended you sign up for every service they offer...thousands of dollars. If you want to go in and get some chiropractic work down, go for it. That's his profession. If you're looking for overall wellness through means of natural sources, there are actual medical doctors out there that know what they are doing. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! They just want your money, do a lot of unnecessary blood test and xrays, tell you they can heal you within a year, prescribe lots of "in-house" medicine you don't need, and make you feel like you need "work" done in every department they provide. They also file for medicare under a doctor's name that doesn't even work there--this is fraud. Be sure to check your bills and insurance reports because they charged me for things they didn't do! Whenever I heard someone talking about going to the Chiropractor for adjustments, I would always think, "yeah right, they pop your back, how is that gonna help?". Prather Wellness Center/Meridian Health and Wellness is a great place to visit for your holistic health needs. I personally enjoy the massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments. I was struggling with hip pain as a collegiate athlete. From a couple of adjustments and a massage I felt quick and sustainable results. However, this is just a few of the services they offer. I also think they usually offer free consultations so I'd recommend it as your first stop. read more

I paid for a few treatments and tests to be done at this place. They were completed but that's it. Nothing came out of it. It was a waste of money and time. First this office has you fill out several pages of personal information that involves past and present medical history and conditions. Okay, that's smart to obtain all that info for new clients. Well, I come in for my first appointment which involves a consultation. Dr. Prather didn't cover anything that I put down on that packet of paperwork that I had to fill out. He asked me, "so what do you want from this office?" What the hell type of question or consult is that? ONE of the things that had been on my mind, that I've been wondering for a while about, I told him about and stated my concerns. So I get taken back to where my treatment will be done, and he does a quick examination just to what points of my body are having issues. Little did he realize that I pay close attention to detail. He used a lot of force with one test to prove to me that that I have weakness going on. He pressed on different pressure points to tell me I have inflammation in those areas. So after my acupuncture treatment was administered, he "tested" those areas again. This time, with the first test, he used very little force. The areas he said I had inflammation, he pressed just off the pressure points. Well of course it's not going to hurt now, and of course when you use less force, my pinkies and thumbs will stay touching. So each time you come into this office, you have to fill out a progress report. My first progress report I stated I didn't feel any better (of course, I only had one treatment), and I also stated about all that information that was required for my new patient intake, that nothing was covered in my consultation that was on those papers. So what happens after the doctor reads that? He comes into the room and confronts me, "we need to talk about this." So not trying to make things any better because of proud he is, he tells me that he didn't like the sound of it and maybe we aren't a good fit and should part ways. HELLO! I listed that because I want results and how will that happen if you don't even go over the things that your patient wrote down on his intake form. So this visit, I had blood taken for a panel on my thyroid. When I had my acupuncture done this visit, I had let him know about my headache and my heart burn (2 things possible to treat with acupuncture.) Not treated, even after our "talk". When the doctor came back in after the needles were removed, I told him I still had the headache and my heart burn was still bothering me. "Ok. You can head up to the front to schedule your next treatment." Really!?!? And I had prepaid for 3 treatments. So my last appointment I was supposed to not only receive my last acupuncture treatment, but also go over my results of my blood panel. Still had heartburn and a headache. He still didn't treat me accordingly, and he never went over my results of my panel. Don't recommend this place to anybody, not even people I don't like. If there was a rating of 0-5, 5 being the best, this doctor would get rated a negative 5. read more

Dr Prather was great. Very good at what he does. I will never go back do to the office staff. I have multiple complaints from a their business aspects. 6 hrs between my 2 visits, and all I recieved was.... 2 adjustments, vital signs and xrays taken, and watched a video about what services they offer. They where very slow at everything. Complaint 2... The office manager told me on my first visit, "Why would we join any more insurance networks when we make more money by not joining and we still are busy." That made me question their motives towards patient care. Complaint 3... After I was told I did not owe anything more (allowing me to change Dr's without worring about addition bills), I recieved addition bills. Office manager pass me off to billing, and billing said she is not responcible for what I am told by other office employees. So I now have additional bills to pay. Complaint 4... I have a new Dr, My new Dr still has not recieved my medical information from the Wellness Center. It has been about a month and my current Dr and I have both called several times and faxed documents back and forth with the Wellness Center so they would release my records to my new Dr. Apparently, I will just start new records with my current Dr cause I'm doubting the Wellness Center's, office staffs ability to do anything on a timely basis. Complaint 5... On my first visit, waiting for my x-rays to be taken. I noticed thier x-ray machines certificate that is issued by the state of Indiana was out of date by over a month. When I asked about this, I was once again dismissed, and they told a funny joke about how observent I was and how they shouldn't leave me allone to long. When I expressed more concerns about it, they told me it was "probably in the mail". That did not make me feel comfortable that the x-ray machine was "probably" still certified and was "probably" OK to be used. You "probably" won't have all the same issues that I had. But I will not go thier ever again. Hopefully, they can get thier office issues in order so no one else has the same negative experiences that I had. You "probably" should think long and hard about any interaction you have with them. Good luck! read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a "doctor's" office. I've felt rundown for some time and someone recommended I go to Dr. Prather to have his special bloodwork profile done. At my first visit, I was ushered through a variety of staff, none of whom ever explained how the practice works, what sorts of treatments are available, what costs are associated, or anything (and no Dr. Prather) until after I had already incurred costs. My blood was drawn and I made an appointment to come back and get my results. When I came back, I was told I was so anemic I could be recommended for a blood transfusion. The young woman who went over my results with me didn't seem to know what she was talking about, but attempted to sell me over $200 worth of supplements. I don't even take aspirin and she's trying to get me on about 10 different daily (or multiple times a day) supplements. I decided to go over my results myself that night and I noticed that the test upon which these determinations were made was based on a hemolyzed sample! So the results weren't even accurate. I called and alerted them to this and asked to have my blood redrawn, which they did. When the results came back, they didn't want me to come in for another consultation, they just had someone call me on the phone and give me a litany of confusing and contradictory information verbally, some of which was consistent with the first test, some contradictory, and most of all of it made no sense to me. And more recommendations for what seems like endless supplements. Almost $1000 and three visits in, I have gotten two separate lab reports, a bunch of confusing and conflicting results, no hope finding out what is wrong with me, and no clear approach or strategy for getting well. And After three trips to this office, I have no idea who "Dr. Prather" is. I've never met him. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Prather and the rest of the staff at Meridian Health and Wellness. I just became a patient in the middle of May and I think they saved my life. Before I started, I was overweight and was definitely starting to feel side effects from that. I got tired easily, I was irritable, and just overall feeling lousy. I had my initial consultation and had blood work drawn, a hair sample taken, and was given a stool kit. The results came in quickly and they knew just what to do to make me feel better. They hooked me up to the EDS machine and told me all of the supplements and homeopathics that would make me feel better. They also started me on their new diet, Healthy Habits, and I have lost 6 lbs in less than a week! I have only been taking those supplements for about a week and I feel completely better! Prather is a miracle worker even though I was skeptical beforehand. He got rid of my planter fashitis (sp?) in 2 visits. I had trouble walking for a year beforehand. It never came back. Tell him where it hurts and he makes it go away. Great for anything that ails you. Only reason I didn't give him 5 (or 6 if I could) stars is that his office runs in such a disorganized manner. Which is odd because he doesn't have mass turnover so its not new people... I'm not sure if he keeps them feeling so good that they're all wandering around in a state of Zen or just not paying attention. However if you have pain, he's the guy to go to. read more
