I met Sandra at the Resolute Brewing 1 yr anniversary and had no idea what pilates exactly is…read more Pilates is a little like yoga as far as mind and body, but it focuses on a total body workout and movement efficiency while keeping its main focus of keeping the integrity of the spine. Sandra had me try the pilates chair and while she makes the movement look so simple, it is super difficult and involves so much core; Sandra makes it look effortless and that is what I want to be as far as fitness goals. Sandra went into great detail about how to do the pilates chair correctly with hand and feet placement as well as describing how your head, knees, and ankles need to be in order to ensure a full body workout. Because Sandra also specializes in pain management as well as working and re-working your pain receptors, she noticed immediately that I need more strength in my feet, which I don't disagree with. I signed up on the spot and can't wait for my first session!! Sandra also does P-DTR (proprioceptive deep tendon reflex), which is used to correct faulty movement patterns. ie: gait, which is one of the primary reasons I signed up.

It was so bad that I could barely walk, let alone run. I went to Sandra after I had heard how great she was from mutual friends, she muscle tested me and used P-DTR to determine what was causing my shin splints. After 2 short sessions of her working on my shins, they pain went completely away! I was able to run again, after not being able to do so for months. She corrected my muscles and stimulated them so they would work properly again. Ever since she worked on me, I have not suffered from shin splints. Thank you Sandra!!!!

Shanon was very accessible to ask questions and texts during the week. I traveled and spent some time in a hotel gym, had to modify my workout at elevation, and had some PT issues with my knee. Shanon was very quick to answer texts to help me accommodate my workout. He has a great way to help you even if you can't get in for personal training by having you take videos and he can give feedback with audio and drawing lines to show better form. This was really key to online training especially when lifting heavy. I am one to have done a ton of different workout styles and have worked with several trainers so I was hesitant to pay for some vanilla type of training but I learned a ton with Shanon that's useful for ongoing maintenance.

I have received physical therapy at Functional Performance Physical Therapy, 6169 S. Balsam Way,…read morefor core strengthening, focusing on stabilizing the spine and pelvis through targeted, progressive exercises that engage deep abdominal, back, and hip muscles. Having fallen several times, with and without my walker, I have been in and out of physical therapy for the past fourteen years. I have a total lumbar fusion, two total knee replacements, an index finger surgery in which I nearly lost it, three abdominal surgeries, and am obese. Since moving to Littleton, CO, from Wisconsin in 2024, I have been on continuous oxygen therapy 24/7 for COPD. Additionally, I have neuropathy in both feet and lymphedema, and I underwent vascular surgery on both legs within the past year. I use tactile compression boots on my legs and feet daily and often wrap them with Ace bandages. The therapists here are brilliant! I am very impressed with their knowledge and skills, and my primary care doctor is equally pleased with their practice. I had Rebecca and Tom for most of the first fifteen months. Tom consistently monitored my oxygen levels because I wasn't on oxygen therapy until he diagnosed that I needed it. My oxygen levels stayed at 80-83 for a few sessions, and I began feeling weak and faint. He told me I needed my doctor to check me and prescribe oxygen so I could raise my level above 90. I am very grateful to him because my previous primary care doctor was less than satisfactory. I made an appointment with a pulmonologist at the National Jewish Health Center in Denver, where I was sent home with an oxygen canister the same day. Shortly after, I found a new primary care doctor. I returned after a couple of weeks and continued my sessions with Tom and a student field experience associate for a few months. After a five-month break, I have returned to Functional Performance and am starting to focus on my back and legs. Tom is no longer at this location, so I have seen Rebecca and Alex. Rebecca reassessed me and assigned me to Alex for the coming weeks. He did an excellent job warming up my back muscles and legs. Then, he guided me through the exercises Rebecca had assigned on my first day back. I am keeping a daily workout log and sending it to my daughter via SMS to stay motivated. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Functional Performance, including the amazing receptionists and administrative assistants, Laura and Mary!

Jen has been with me every step of the way. When she was out for a week, PR Nicole stepped in and was fantastic too. I've made good advancements in my recovery thanks to their care, attention, and expertise. While I wish I were "good as new" already, I know it will still be a bit of time for that to happen, but until that time comes, I don't think I could be in a better place or in better hands!

The receptionist is super friendly and helpful, the facility is clean, and comfortable as well! Best of all my therapist Chad worked hard to help me restore my aching back-literally! Which is a miracle because, I haven't felt this way since before my injure. Not only this but, he is kind, confident, and always professional.
