If you're looking for a top notch pilates studio this is the place for you. It is an elegant, spotless, friendly studio with supportive, highly skilled instructors dedicated to helping you strengthen, lengthen and tone. All of the group classes at Pilates Plus are very challenging, but in a good way because you leave the studio feeling amazing and accomplished. All the instructors are fabulous- very attentive and extremely knowledgable. Class size is small, which is wonderful because you really receive that extra attention so you can perfect your form. I feel very fortunate to be a student at Pilates Plus. They will push you hard, but the results are great. When I am out of town for school, I try to find nearby pilates/barre studios. She recognized that I was new along with one other person, so she showed us both the machine and got us set up. The class itself was great! If you're not familiar with Lagree, it's a style of high-intensity Pilates that combines cardio and strength training. It's very hard and very rewarding. Katrina did a fantastic job of encouraging and pushing us while providing either modifications or ways to make the workout harder. There were some empty machines and I loved this as it meant she was able to demonstrate on one, so I knew exactly what the exercises should look like. I've taken several Lagree classes but still consider myself relatively new to this type of exercise, so I appreciated the visual demonstration. Overall, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. There was also ample free parking. Because of that, the convenient location, and great instruction, I will definitely be back!

    I took my very first pilates class in January of 2021. I think everyone remembers something about…read moretheir first class - how hard it was, how it seems like everyone else in the class is a superstar, how you wonder if you'll ever "get there". I remember Plank to Pike, specifically, how I couldn't do it on one light spring (I had to add a spring for more support). My body just couldn't do the movement, I wasn't strong enough. But I kept at it, I kept showing up for class, through the snow storms and sore quads, through all of the growing pains so that one day, I didn't feel like I had to spend more time looking around me to see what everyone else was doing, I could just do the Plank to Pike on one light spring. Earlier this month, I took a camping trip to the southwest, and on one of the days, I rented a sea kayak at Lake Powell - I wanted to see the Slot Canyons. It's a 3-mile kayak trip one way to get to the base of the trail in Antelope Canyon, and then after you hike, you fight the wind blowing against you to paddle the 3 miles back. Besides seeing the beauty and grandeur of the canyon, I had the most amazing experience - I looked down while I was paddling and noticed my arms. They were strong, there was muscle definition I've never had in my life, I looked good! And better than that, I felt good, I felt Strong. I realized that all the core strengthening, all those arm exercises, all those squats and lunges that I had been doing made a difference. I showed up and put in the work, and my body gave it all back to me. I was so tired the day after my kayaking, but it was a "good" tired and a "good" sore - it was the feeling of getting out there and living. #PilatesStrong #PilatesEvolution #Transformation #LiveIntentional

I'm still not a fan of the cancellation policy, but I've discovered that their prices are on par with their competitors, and I love their classes! Pilates has never pretended to be cardio, so while I don't always feel like I'm getting a workout during class, I often feel it after, and I've definitely noticed a change in my body. I find mat classes to be great for core work and equipment classes to be great for "everything else", and I really like going back and forth between the two. The instructors are really good about providing directions that make sense, answering questions (don't be scared to speak up and ask), and making sure you're doing the movements in a way that will help your body and not get you injured. I'm mainly a fan of Desiree and Lija, but I've taken a class here or there from Kelley or Liz and have had good experiences with them too. Class sizes are small so you can almost always get individual attention, but if that's not your style they're okay with that, too. Wherever you are in the spectrum-- between totally out of shape to tight from running a marathon to just wanting more workout variety or core strength-- I'd definitely recommend Functional Strength.
