Be sure to cap off your visit by wandering a couple steps into Alfama to a real Fado cave, and listen to some incredible music.

On three floors, the Museu do Fado does a fabulous job of explaining this music that dates back to the 1820s. Its comings, goings, censorship, freedom and current status. I visited this building with a tour guide and my husband. The admission fee was reasonable. The building has Baroque-style architecture, a marble interior, and a stunning dome that was built in the 1960s. The building also provides beautiful views of the surrounding Alfama neighborhood and Tagus River. I loved the Alfama neighborhood, and although I do not know the historical Portuguese people in the tombs, I think that the National Pantheon is worth a visit if you have a little time.

He had two children but no wife. This museum is CASH only. 3 euros entry fee. There is no WIFI. The entrance is a mess and in need of renovation and I think is going to be starting renovation because there are boards everywhere and the weeds are taking over. The museum is very military with lots of guns, canons, and more things that were owned by Portugal and then things Portugal pillaged from other countries. And even some guns that Portugal was able to get back after it was stolen for the museum. Many of the exhibits are in Portuguese only, so if you don't speak or read Portuguese and Google translate did not work with Portuguese, so many parts I skipped.

Many artifacts here from Portuguese military history with extensive displays of cannon, firearms, uniforms and weaponry. Swords and such from centuries ago and a big focus on The Great War. I knew, but had forgotten, that Portugal declared itself neutral during WWII though they leaned a bit towards England as their ally dating back to the Anglo-Portuguese Treaty (Aliança Luso-Inglesa in Portuguese) of 1373. Yes, that's 1373. It is one of the oldest treaties in history. It's not just the objects on display but also the rooms themselves that are worthy of examination. Even the entrance is worth seeing, a monumental portico which survived the earthquake of 1755. There are many pieces of Azulejaria (Portuguese tiles) and paintings on display. Below in a basement area is the Pátio dos Canhões which contains a collection of artillery pieces. The entire museum is designed so that it can be enjoyed in a single line to minimize exposure to other museum goers for COVID purposes. However, we eventually grew tired of this and wanted to enjoy a cocktail or two with the locals. After doing some shopping, we stumbled upon The Bar. Unlike some of the other bars, The Bar does not have outdoor seating. Therefore, you have to keep your eyes peeled for the entrance. Upon entering the dimly lit intimate bar, we were warmly greeted by a bartender named Joao. We took in the romantic ambiance (they have a Louis Vuitton Virgil Abloh collector's book!) as we found seating on one of their cozy + comfy couches. My wife ordered the Porn Star Martini (you gotta love an establishment that has a little fun with the name of their drinks) and I ordered the Long Island Iced Tea (this used to be my go-to back in my clubbing days). I knew the drinks would be delicious when I saw Joao carefully crafting the drinks as if he was bathing a newborn. Six minutes later we were sipping on our delectable drinks. In fact, the drinks were so delectable that we slowly sipped them to not finish them too quickly. We made repeated visits to The Bar during our stay in Lisbon, specifically for their Happy Hour that takes place from 5pm to 8pm. With the exception of the signature cocktails, all cocktails are $7 during Happy Hour. If you're looking to consume an adult beverage in a comfortable, cozy, and non-touristy environment...I highly recommend The Bar!

This server was very kind and brought us our drink that we drank rather fast so that he could get home as soon as possible. Both of our drinks were expertly made and the ambiance only added to the experience.
