    Bras de Bacal
    C Daniel C.

We had lunch there and it was amazing! I had the Bras de Bacalhau and it was like nothing else I have had since coming to Portugal. The egg yoke added was an awesome touch. My wife had the gazpacho and the avocado salad which she enjoyed immensely. The service was excellent with it being attentive yet not overbearing.

We were in town for a couple hours on a tour around lunch time. Our tour guide recommended this restaurant. We were seated right away. My husband and I shared a bottle of wine (rose) which we enjoyed. They had a nice menu of tapas so we decided to choose three items. We got calamari tempura- calamari had good texture and cooked perfectly. We also tried the octopus which included potatoes and sugar snap peas- also delicious. We also got the eggplant delicious which included black beans. Everything was amazing and the fish tasted fresh. The service was good and we did not wait long at all for our food.

Squid with a side of rice

This place wasn't bad for the price. They had a wide selection of seafood items. Seemed like it was somewhat a fusion experience. I ordered the squid which had squid + clams with a side of rice. Wasn't bad for the price. Our waitress was super friendly but the man who sat us seemed flustered. At first everyone was pretty attentive but after we sat a larger crowd flooded in so it was harder to get someone's attention. Like my partner ordered a side of rice but ended up with fries. He ate it anyways and it was still tasty. The place was beautifully designed. Had extra seating upstairs and outside. Their bathroom is located down stairs. Overall, wasn't bad experience for a random pop in.

Came here for a late lunch with my family on a Sunday at around 2 PM. The restaurant has two floors and it was still pretty packed at that time. We wanted to try a bunch of different things so we decided to share everything amongst 6 people. We asked our waiter (who was awesome - wish I remembered his name) for some recommendations and he did not lead us astray. This is everything we ate: -Beet root soup - we all wanted to try this but didn't each want a whole bowl of it, so we ordered 3 of them and they were nice enough to split it into 6 separate cups. This was not my favorite because it had a bit of bitter aftertaste -Croquettes - we ordered one smoked ham and one pork sausage. Each order comes with 4 croquettes, so it was a good amount to just try it out. I liked the pork sausage one. The smoked ham was a little too smoky for me -Pica Pau Veal (Mustard Sauce, Cucumber Pickle, Garlic, Basil & Sweet Potato) - I'm not sure if I loved the mustard sauce. Perhaps it was too much of it. Maybe it would have been better if they left it as a dipping sauce on the side? The veal itself was really good though. It was so tender -Octopus Lagareiro's Style (Potato, Avocado, Sugar Snap Peas & Parsley) - this was one of my faves. Everything just tasted so fresh and the octopus so soft -Garlic Prawns - this was probably my other favorite dish of the meal. It was super garlicky and flavorful. I also like that they leave the heads on because that's the best part of the shrimp -Fried Codfish Pancakes - this comes topped with an egg yolk that they spread across the pancakes for you. It also comes with a side of chorizo and beans you're supposed to eat with the pancake. The pancake was just okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture. I also wish there was more chorizo with the beans -Tuna à Café (Jerusalem Artichoke, Ginger, Shallot, Chives, Egg, Black Garlic, Kale, Worcestershire Sauce e Togarashi) -this was a nice dish. I liked the plantain chips (?) it came with. It was a unique twist For drinks, they have some pretty interesting cocktails. They have your classics but they also have some house special ones. I had the Speachless (Infusion of Vodka and Rhubard, Apricot Liqueur, Rhubarb & Lime) and hubby had the Pink Starburst (Plantation Fiji, Pink Dragon fruit and Rhubard Shrub & Lime). While I probably wouldn't order either of them again, it was unique and I appreciate that. Overall, we had a great meal and we were all stuffed. Definitely a good restaurant if you want to try out some unique/fresh dishes (and that are super reasonably priced)!

Very cute place right by the beach. To a Canadian's standards, this place had many many interesting options for dishes including, not surprisingly seafood! We sat indoors by the window for a nice lunch after just arriving from the airport. Service was good, food arrived quickly. We tried: - the homemade chips: a variety of taro and sweet potato with a dip, very good - prawns: very fresh and delicious - fried baby octopus: what's not to like? - limpets: very time trying these and enjoyed them very much. Hot with butter and lemon with a little crunch. All in all, we enjoyed the food very much!

Came here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge, who said this place is always busy and has a great assortment of portugese tapas. The place was cozy, with a great menu and great vibes. Here's the rundown of the food: - Chips From Around the World: crispy cassava, yam, and parsnip chips with an aioli to dip - some of the chips were a bit undercooked but overall a solid snack - Shrimp Tempura: very nice cook on these with just a little bit of breading and a solid sweet chili sauce to dip - the fresh shrimp were delicious - Butternut Pie: this one was a bit basic, just sweet potato pie with goat cheese and spinach, this was the only dish that was a pass for me - Garlic Shrimp: Very delicious shrimp in a garlic sauce - the depth of flavour was immaculate here, and the juices in the shrimp head were succulent - Veal in Mustard Sauce: the flavours here were solid and balanced well - Peanut Butter Parfait: with peanut butter ice cream, plenty of chocolate and caramel there's plenty to like about this dish Overall, all the dishes were pretty good but didn't quite blow me away. I would say this place was worth a try and was great for sharing, perfect spot for dinner by the bay.

Gazpacho (with an egg, apple slices and cashews in it).

The 2 stars are for the location, right by the water. The food, however, was mostly pretty bad, except for the gazpacho, which was OK despite the fact that it had a soft boiled or poached egg and whole cashews in it. The black garlic fried shrimp was so salty it was borderline inedible. The Iberian pork was dry, tough and tasteless. The octopus salad ("summer octopus") was in a sauce that resembled and tasted like Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, straight out of the can. The tomato salad was good but how much credit does a restaurant deserve for slicing a tomato and putting vinaigrette on it? The menu didn't do a good job of describing the dishes and the staff wasn't much better at it. If you're ever in Caiscais, eat somewhere else.

If you are looking for a great place for lunch with views of the beach and friendly staff as well as great salads, stop by HIFEN. We had just arrived in Cascais from Lisbon and were waiting to check in to our hotel and just wanted a simple light lunch. What a find. The staff was very nice and accommodating and the food was delicious. We ended up having 3 different salads while my son, the carnivore, had the veal kids meal. The veal was tender and juicy, quite the luxurious meal for a children's menu. And only $7 euros. Picture attached below. Well worth it. I had the avocado salad - trying to compensate for all of the heavy Portuguese food I had in Lisbon. I have to say, this is one of the better salads I have had, ever. The dressing was very light, just some olive oil and a hint of vinegar with salt and pepper. The greens were a mixture of different salads and all very tasty. By the end, my daughter and wife were trying to eat my salad so I had to go on the defensive and protect what was mine. My wife had the duck salad. This was also quite good with shredded duck mixed with a variety of salad greens as well as tomatoes and other salad accoutrement. My daughter had the salmon salad. Now this was a find. Rare salmon dressed with a miso vinaigrette on mixed greens with sesame seeds. Amazingly good. No outdoor seating but we were at one of the tables against the windows that look out towards the beach and "harbor" so the view was great and there was a cool ocean breeze blowing in. This setting with a cold beer and tasty salads were a great welcome to another beautiful city in Portugal. Highly recommend.

    Espresso Martini

Came here for drinks per the recommendation of the front desk man at our Lisbon hotel. Delicious signature cocktails with a great view. Ordered the espresso martini, and it was one of the best I've had. They definitely put a lot of effort into presentation.

Our server was adorable and bubbly with a great sense of humor. She did get really busy though toward the end of our meal and it was a challenge to flag her down for our check. With that said, she provided exceptional service earlier. This is the kind of place you want to go to with others who love tasting a variety of dishes. I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. They were delightful, but kind of expensive as they were 1.70Euros each and were literally one bite, but a very flavorful bite at that. I also had a few glasses of their summer sangria which I rather enjoyed. I would return here when in Cascais again, but maybe with a different group of people so that we can treat it as tapas as it should be instead of individual dishes. There's so much more I want to try from their menu!

We split 3 dishes and definitely couldn't do a 4th as the portions were perfect to share. Dishes we ordered were the octopus with Migas, the wild crispy shrimps and the Ze Povinho which is black pork cheeks slow cooked in red wine. The octopus was incredibly tender and served over potatoes that had a lot of flavor. The shrimps were 4 large (prawns not sure why they were called shrimo?) were fried but nice and juicy. The puree of the avocado and mango with the prawns was a winning combo! We were both pretty full but ate every bit of the pork beef cheeks which was served with au gratin potato that had a hint of dill in it which I was surprised I like as I'm not a huge dill fan.. Once we got to this spot and this are in general we knew it was the place to be at. Monday evening and packed!

They were as expected. Generally, seafood isn't cleaned by default (fish bile is not removed, shrimp is not deveined, etc.) so I had to do some cleaning but they were fresh and good too. Very salty, but you can avoid the skin to avoid the salt. Both mains came with a side. Choices were salad, boiled potatoes, or fries. Cascais was highly recommended by the hotel concierge and an expat we met while in line at Pasteis de Belem. We decided to search for restaurants that are off the beaten path and luckily came across Melody. It was cozy and had a small outdoor dining area. The menu was pretty expansive and the portions were generous for the price. Since we've had lots of seafood during our trip so far, I asked our friendly and wonderful server for his recommendations on their beef menu. I opted for Bitoque à Melody. This was a generous portion of steak in mushroom cream sauce which was outstanding. My husband ordered Salmão Grelhado, a grilled salmon filet and baby potatoes served with garlic and garlic pepper in a light olive oil sauce. For dessert, server recommended 2 that are popular, but it didn't stand out as much as the savory items.
