One of the authentic tapas places in Barcelona. They speak Spanish and only a little bit of English Pros - large affordable portions of food. Definitely not the small portions you are used to having. Their paella is their signature dish and thats what you should stick to. Cons - the appetizers and non-paella dishes are subpar. The cerviche pieces were too large and only flavored by a tomato. The grilled snails were poorly seasoned. The mussels were fresh but not seasoned well. Stick to the paella. Cool place to get some great filling paella.

Ordered the seafood paella and the rice was undercooked. Would not recommend. The flavor could be better.

Croquet with chorizo and potato if I remember correctly. Scrumptious! Next time I'll just eat 5 of these.

Best dinner during our Barcelona trip. I would take a cab to this restaurant if you're staying in the gothic quarter. Paella = best in the city for us, perfectly crisp rice on the edges, nice and soft rice in the middle. Veal= just melts in your mouth. Order it rare because it cooks on the hotplate. The service was impressive. Our waiter was a guy from Ecuador and very friendly. Make reservations or get here before 7:30p!

Walked over to Seasons across the street because of the good reviews but they were not serving the full menu, the waiter was kind enough to let me know that Bodega Joan is owned by the same family and the food is just as good, he was not wrong. Easily the best paella I had in Barcelona, great service and non touristy prices. It's a few km away Ramblas, which in my short stay in Barca means better tasting/quality food, a very local spot, can't wait to go back.

We've been in Barcelona for less than a week and have gone here twice in three days. I will have dreams about the seafood paella for the rest of my life. Big healthy portions, but you have to be a party of at least two (no swan diving into this one solo, unfortunately). We also had the potatoes with brava sauce the croquettes (both times- the six), Pan con tomate and the chorizo. Everything was great, but the chorizo was average. We also had the cava sangria which had lots of great fruit in here. If you're in this area of the city, would highly recommend stopping by! Well priced, delicious and very conveniently located.

Delicious Seafood Paella. Great Sangria. Reasonable price. Place is busy with locals and tourists.

Food/Drink: We did the prie fix menu which involved a paella for two, three tapas, a drink of choice (sangria, beer, etc), and a coffee at the end. We go the mixed paella which is definitely recommended if you want both seafood and meat in your dish. The rice was cooked to perfection with the little crisp at the bottom and the waiter even helps you serve it. The three tapas were patata braves, a sort of pork loin dish and grilled shrimp. After the tapas we thought we couldn't finish the paella but it was so good that we ended up finishing everything. Even though it's not the most authentic place to get a paella, still would recommend as an option for a lot of food. Price: The prie fix menu was 25 euros per person which is a little on the higher side but not bad at all when you consider how much food you're getting and the quality. It feels authentic enough since we saw locals in the restaurant as well as tourists. Atmosphere: It's a lively casual bar with a lot of football memorabilia and can be great place to watch sports with its huge TV. It's well air conditioned which was important to us and there are many tables and chairs for both small and large groups. The waiters were nice enough but weren't overly enthusiastic although I suspect that's everyone in Barcelona so we didn't take it personally. Tips: you can reserve a seat online in case it gets busy!

Absolutely fantastic! Seafood paella is amazing, the octopus gallician too! We loved the sangria. You better make a reservation, as it is quite busy! The staff is great and it's definitely worth the visit!

Probably the best seafood paella I've ever had. The service wasn't great but it's definitely worth going for the food. Great experience overall, would go again if I'm ever back in Barcelona.

I read about this place for top rated paella and it was worth the nearly two mile walk to get here. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere was lively and the food was unparalleled in taste and quality. The paella rice was cooked to perfection, the sauce was flavorful and there is plenty of seafood to go around. From the very first bite my husband and I were impressed and we rated the paella top two meals we had in Barcelona, and we ate A LOT! If you get a chance to eat here, get the Paella!

My friend very happy with his meal

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me.
