Try to get a good seat gets busy.

Clams are so hot and delicious! You have to stop and try some! Fresh off the grill with large shrimps! Can be crowded so try to find a seat and enjoy! $2.00 a clam but totally worth it since it's jammed packed high with veggies and shrimp! Can be loud since a lot of foot traffic!

La neta, la neta ni se harimen. Está malísima la comida. El taco de camarón enchilado parece caldo de tomate. Sabe a puro tomate y todavía lo adornan con más tomate. Yo no miré ningún camarón. Ya están advertidos.

I booked a tour here, specifically for this restaurant!! I've traveled here in the past and wanted to visit since being recommended to eat here. The folks that work here give phenomenal service. Who doesn't like eating fresh seafood next to the Pacific Ocean? Amazing experience! Cannot beat this ambiance. Eat the grilled clams, shrimp skewers and tacos! The drink names are hilarious!

As y'all can see in the pic the oysters were not fresh at all they were actually disgusting

While visiting the area I was dying to eat some GOOD fresh seafood, I mean I'm on the beach right? What's better than fresh seafood? So we decided to try this place (had not seen the reviews) upon looking at the menu I was gonna go for grilled octopus while my company was going for Baja style fish tacos cuz they're usually delicious! We weee suggested by the waiter Cesar to try this huge dish that came with everything, shrimp, lobster, octopus, crab, fish all of that called Mariscada. Not knowing the rip off that it was gonna be we decided to go with his suggestion. The dish is indeed big however there was NO octopus, no crab, there was a load of different kinds of shrimp I believe 9 different types of shrimp and also a badly overcooked fried fish and also overcooked small lobster as you can see in the pic. I also asked him about the oysters he said they had been caught a few hours ago... they were disgusting nearly inedible!! Resuming the story I wasted my money cuz it cost me 250 dollars!! Yes DOLLARS! When if I had gone with what we initially had in mind my bill should have been about 40 bucks which is pretty good in Mexico. Love Mexico and always will, but will never return to this restaurant! The food was not worth the price not even close! Total disappointment! La vista está bonita pero es lo único que fue bueno, lo demás que decepción.

We came on a Monday. I hear it's extremely busy on weekends. We had a GREAT experience. Seated quickly. Food came out quickly. And food DELICIOUS!! We had the grilled clam with cheese, grilled shrimp kabob, garlic octopus, and mixed cocktail.

View was beautiful and food was okay. It was a trek climbing to the top, so be careful if you have small children, you're with older adults or you've already had a couple palomas, pina coladas or tequila. I ordered tacos de pescado (fish) y camaron (shrimp). Came out to a little under $2 for a taco. Chips and salsa are brought over to munch on. For the tacos, they're brought to you deep fried on a tortilla and plain. You add your own shredded cabbage, Pico de Gallo, sliced radishes, salsa and crema. I forgot how spicy fresh salsa can be and it was delicious. The tacos were okay, but I think Tacos Fenix's batter is better. Had a mariachi band playing and they took requests of 3 songs for $20. We requested the first 3 songs and the table next to us kept it going and requested 3 more. Was in good company and had fun!

The clams were $8 for a whole. Very good.

Ah I wish I had cell service when we were at La Bufadora. We were ushered in by a nice guy who was talking up their clams, which smelled delicious. We planned on lunch in the area anyway so we took him up on his offer and he seated us upstairs with a great view. Restrooms were free to use as well as customers and very clean. $8 usd per clam and shrimp skewer. We were surprised that the price per clam included both sides of the clam. Cheesy gooey goodness with pico de gallo - shrimps and not much clam but still the highlight of my meal. Loved the smokiness of it. I will say we bought shrimp skewers without veggies on the beach just the other day for $2.50 usd each. We decided to also order off the menu as there were 5 of us and still a bit hungry. My only recommendation is to calculate your own bill before they take the menu away. We ordered- 1 modelo 1 shrimp tostada - I remember this at 50 pesos 1 mango margarita 1 orange soda 1 horchata 1 fish taco 1 fish tostada 2 sides of rice which I remember was $5 usd total. And we are trying to figure out now how that was an $86 meal??? We had already paid $32 cash to the other vendor for the shrimp and clams. Lesson learned. My fiancé loved his fish taco but the ceviches were just okay. If we ever go back to La Bufadora, which I doubt, - I would buy the clams again. They were unique and tasty but something was off about the calculation of the bill (no receipt) and we were feeling ripped off and that's a terrible feeling when visiting a new place. Word to the wise! Do your research before visiting and expect you may have no cell service there to look at Yelp reviews. Servers were nice and friendly.

we had to use our phone flashlights because there's no light in the terrace even after we asked

If I could give negative reviews I would. The food took over 2 hours to be ready and when it came the chicken was raw (raw pink and soaked in butter). The rooftop is nice, but there is no light when the sun sets, so you eat in the dark. RIDICULOUS! La comida estaba CRUDA y tardó más de 2 horas en llegar. No hay luz en la terraza así que comes en la oscuridad. Mal servicio!

The food is just delicious and honestly besides the view the best part of this little excursion. The shrimp kabobs.. totally worth the 8 dollars. I would have tried something else but time was limited. If I ever make it back to ensenada I'm definitely coming back here.

One shell (2 halves) with a pack of rice crispy.

Woot their grilled clams with butter were so good! That's the only thing we tried and that's what they're famous for too as you can smell and see them on your way to the geyser! Basically they put some chopped clams, diced onions, peppers, herbs and butter into both of the shell halves, topped with cheese and shrimp, grilled on the charcoal grill to add some smoky flavor. It sounds simple but it's so freaking delicious! The reason why I didn't give it a 5 was because of the service. They're doing 3 whole shells (6 halves) for $20 USD. Us 5 girls were not sure if we could finish all 3 so we just got 2 for $14. After finishing the two we wanted to get more! So we went back there and ask them if we could get the 3rd one for only $6 more since that would be what they offered, 3 for $20. The guy refused and was very adamant and rude about it. In general the merchants here do not have the best service. Maybe they make too much money from tourists that they don't care anymore? Regardless, I hope you won't get rude service. If so, just focus on the delicious food and the fact that you're on vacation!

    Serena R.

Went here on our day excursion from a cruise. They provide great service and are very attentive to their customers. I ate the tacos which were good, but salsa was just ok. My husband and other family members ate their oysters. Which everyone absolutely loved!! I only give three stars cuz they charge us for additional food they said they brought us which in fact they didn't. I think they thought they did cuz they were running back and forth serving us and got mixed up. We just end up paying it to avoid issues especially since being in a foreign country. Before writing this review I noticed i someone else had the same experience with being charged for food they didn't receive but what can ya do... I did however appreciated the sever going up to the restaurant and getting my tacos and bringing them to me down at the bottom table just beside the bottom steps. WORD TO THE WISE - ask prices first and if you're with a large group, make sure u keep track of what u order and what they think u ordered. Learn from my mistake lol

    Channy P.

The food, the food was superb. Best oysters that I've ever had. Oysters were $8 for 2 large oysters with jumbo shrimp and saltines. Cooked in front of you and super hot. The customer service was great, seating available and positive vibes.

If…read moreyou've spent any time up this way, you already know its reputation runs deep--this isn't just another restaurant and bar, it's a landmark, a meeting point, and for many of us, a second home. Over the years, Gordos has reinvented itself more times than I can count, each era adding another layer to its identity. And now, under its current ownership, it's clearer than ever that this iteration might just be the best one yet. The owner brings a level of passion and intention that you can feel the moment you walk in. She genuinely invests her time, heart, and relentless hustle into making this a polished, welcoming space where everyone--locals and travelers alike--feel like part of the crew. It's not just professionally run, it's thoughtfully run. The service is warm, the staff is sharp, and the atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between laid-back coastal hangout and well-oiled hospitality. One of the coolest parts? Gordos celebrates the community by employing local talent and giving them a stage to shine. You'll catch familiar faces behind the bar, in the kitchen, or cruising the floor making sure glasses are full and plates are clean. It's amazing to see a business here that doesn't just exist in the community, but actively supports it. And the food--man, you can always count on it. Every dish comes out with that signature freshness that makes you grateful you skipped breakfast. You can tell the ingredients aren't sitting around waiting for their moment... they're used at their peak. And the drinks? Let's just say Gordos doesn't play around. They pour with confidence. If you like your cocktails stiff enough to put hair on your chest, you're in the right place. Between the daily happy hour, the weekly food specials, the good music, the salty-air breeze rolling in, and the nonstop good vibes, it's hard not to have a great time here. Whether you're grabbing a cold cerveza after exploring the coast, fueling up before heading to the lookout points, or settling in for a long night of laughs with friends, Gordos delivers--every single time. Do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the kind of place that fills your belly, lifts your spirit, and leaves you already planning your next visit. Highly recommend--10/10 for the food, the pours, and the people that make it all come together.

We didn't eat here. But it was I believe $50 in total for my son & I from what I can remember to pet animals. I wanted to play w/ one of the other animals but the guy said it would be too playful & big for my 2yr old toddler. So we went w/ the smallest cub. They made us sanitize our hands prior to going in. You're not able to take pics while outside of the cage. But once you go in you had a few minutes to record & take pics w/ the animals. The cub was playful w/ my son. Even bit him on the hand in one of my videos. Although I don't believe it was that hard since my son didn't cry. He just noticeably pulled his hand back. That didn't stop him from playing w/ them tho. Service from the workers were 3/5 stars. They seemed over it & didn't really care for it. When the cub bit my son, the guy just didn't even acknowledge it & pretty much played it off. He kept repeating himself which got a little annoying. Not to mention they kept pressuring us for tips. Well now that's off my bucket list, I don't think I'd be doing this again. Lol.

This small and unassuming family-owned eatery has become renowned for its delightfully authentic Mexican cuisine and local seafood dishes. Located next door to Sharkey's Bar & Grill, they are situated facing the Estero on the left side of the road. One of their signature dishes is their fried calamari, which consists of a generous, crispy and tender breaded fillet done 'abalone style' in garlic butter. It is served with fresh veggies from the local farms, rice, baked potato and sour cream, and toasty garlic bread. The price for this sumptuous feast is 150 pesos, which is only about $8.00 U.S. at the current exchange rate of 19 pesos to the dollar. The most amazing feature is that El Faro offers a different 2 for 1 menu item each weekday; and on Fridays, calamari is the designated special. That's right, 2 calamari dinners for only 150 pesos! On one occasion, a buddy of mine and I showed up there with a couple pints of Heineken (no corkage fees at El Faro) and took advantage of this mind-numbing value. It was ABSOLUTELY delicious, and we waddled out the door after paying the 150-peso check and leaving a 25% gratuity. Yep, a total of 200 pesos ...about 12 bucks tip included for a couple of the best calamari I've had in years. If you're in the neighborhood, give 'em a try!

I told myself if I'm ever in the area again, I have to make an effort to eat at this place. Well, the opportunity arose as I was staying at a nearby winery. The biggest problem I encountered was finding a ride to get to this restaurant. Taxis are nonexistent in the area. Ubers are only in the area when someone from Ensenada requests a round trip to the area, so no they are not available to others. Therefore, I expressed my frustration with the front desk at my winery hotel and they took on the task of finding me private transportation. About 40 minutes later, they called my room to inform me that they located a driver. Unfortunately, he requested an inflated price for the to and from the restaurant. Private drivers down here know that you have few choices, therefore, they can ask inflated prices. Yes, I was in a pickle, but I really wanted to go. I did not rent a car because many of the roads hug cliffs and everyone drives fast, because they know where all of the mountain curves are. Being from Chicago, where we also drive fast but don't have mountain cliff roads decided to play it safe and let others do the driving for me. Anyhow, I debated, and in the end agreed to the expensive terms because when I going to get the opportunity again to eat at a place rated best breakfast in the world? How was the breakfast? It was absolutely delicious, everything was made from scratch. I ordered the cafe de la olla which interprets into coffee from the pot because typically it is prepared with raw sugar (piloncillo), canella (cinnamon sticks), and orange zest. How was the coffee? Delicious. I had some machaca (small bits of dried beef) with eggs which came with delicious refried beans. I also ordered the excellent chilaquiles with an egg and a side of bacon. I also needed to order the one thing most talk about on their menu which is the corn bread pancakes. They used the recipe for a typical corn bread sold down here called pan de elote to make the pancakes, and yes, they were excellent. Turning the batter from this recipe into pancakes was a brilliant idea. Also, I cannot leave out the great tasting freshly made corn tortillas that came with the food. The tortillas down here taste different from the ones back in Chicago because down here a white heirloom corn is utilized rather than the sweet yellow dent corn from the Midwest. Was it the best breakfast that I have ever had in Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter? Well, it definitely lived up to the hype the breakfast was amazing and I do highly recommend it. If you do decide to visit, my best advice is show up early because a line forms very early. I have been lucky to have also had other amazing breakfasts in Mexico and other places in my travels. The secret to this restaurant sits right behind it. On the restaurant grounds is an active ranch, which also doubles as a small zoo, where they source their milk and meats from. Yes, they raise their own animals which later become items on the menu. Does that fresh matter? Yes, it absolutely does make all of the difference. Does it sound cruel? Well, that is a whole other conversation. Let's just say the animals are treated humanely. All of the livestock looked happy as they roamed around the grounds. Unlike the way livestock is treated inhumanly in the United States in dirty overcrowded housing where some never get to see the sun or roam freely in the open air. Livestock in the US are constantly given antibiotics and growth hormones, also fed gmo feed with questionable health implications for those that consume them.
