Enjoyed the atmosphere and the view was spectacular. Food good, not great, and priced right. Much need rest stop before we walked down to the blow hole

Partner said the birria tacos were better than others because of the juice, softening the tortillas. I LOVE cochinita pibil but the only authentic part of this recipe was the pickled red onions- didn't taste like cochi; disappointing for sure. Birria tacos also didn't have the correct spices and flavors for me. The tortilla soup was good - it didn't need any extra protein - in fact would have been better without the added chicken we upgraded to. The side of onion rings were just okay. They are breaded versus battered so not to my liking. With so many excellent options in La Chapu area, I have to drop the ranking. I chose this place based on other yelp reviews but this was a miss for me. Upon reflection, the Yelp 5 star reviews are all from 6 years ago, hopefully the owners see this and decide to up their standard. I don't like to give a poor review but it's understandable now why the restaurant was empty on a Friday evening. Partner liked the onion rings, soup, Jamaica and the birria tacos.

Come to find out from my initial attempt, they don't accept walk-ins and there's no open bar seating so reservations are a definite must or else you'll be in that wait line. I was excited to make reservations. When that day came, the staff were super friendly from the start...at the hostess stand outside then at my table inside. Once inside, I fell in looove with the decor and homely atmosphere. I was ready to immerse myself into the traditional Mexican breakfast culture. To kick things off, I ordered the Mexican Coffee Flight which came with some sweet treats. I loooved the presentation! After sampling each one, I decided to order the Mexican Scramble. And I'm glad I did...it was deeeliciously flavorful. This was definitely a memorable summer brunch experience. I highly recommend Cocina 35 to the Yelp Community :-)

I've had the privilege to go to this place four times: twice for a birthday, a bachelorette brunch,…read moreand a regular hang out. It's definitely a popular place thanks to the beautiful atmosphere, and their specialty: chilaquiles. Pros: Large portions, very shareable, food is ok/good for a popular Instagram place. Chilaquiles - De Mercado is definitely their best, balanced and not salty. All my friends agreed this is the best dish in this restaurant. Sampler - El Tochomorcho, nice variety, was ok, got salty in the end. Quesadillitas De Chilorio was mediocre, salty as you eat more, so it gets a bit underwhelming. Coffee: De la Olla was pretty good, more milky and cinnamon and not too sweet so it hits the spot. Agua Fresca - Delicious flight, if you can't decide a drink get this one. Cons: environmental noice and service - Noisier than average due to echo of building, making music very loud and as a result, people trying to talk over the music. It can be overwhelming by the end of the meal. - Service: inconsistent. First two times we had quick, wonderful service from front of house to end. Last two times it felt like we were waiting longer times and it felt very disorganized inside. We got our food before and never received any table water. When we requested for water the waitress, it felt that she was frustrated like we were bothering her; she then brought water bottles instead of regular water, we didn't realize was an extra change of $4.50 until later but at this point we didn't want to make a big deal, so just paid and left. It felt more of a retaliation for our request for water than a miscommunication. Crowd/Parking: Liberty station during the weekend is difficult, the surrounding area is very popular, there's a church nearby and liberty station hosts events / festivities, so allocate some time prior to your reservation to find parking and navigate through the crowds. Get a reservation about a week ahead if you're able to, if not be prepared to wait about an hour - two hours. Tl;dr: good for a first time experience, very beautiful but will not return simply due to the noise level/inconsistent service/parking just for food.

OBSESSED ! been wanting to try the new location and it did not miss!…read more I ordered two hard shell tacos and a tamal w/ rice and beans! both delicious! Only thing I would change next time is to ask if they can fry the shell a little bit longer cause I need a good crunch lol. The beans and rice were amazing and the little tamal was so good and stuffed with a nice amount of pork. New location is pretty cool! Love that they serve you right away at the counter and then you just grab your spot. Seating is semi limited and they only have one restroom each for men and women. The service was super friendly too! Overall, loved everything except the fact that it was a little toasty inside and the bomb chile made the heat even worse lol 10/10, I'll be back ! ;)

Better parking, cleaner, just as few communal tables as the original. Same recipes, menu and service. Same deliciousness!!! A few wish list items - better quality napkins for how juicy everything is - why do Mexican restaurants do that to us? We use 20x more napkins than if you got the good ones. . Also no Mexican Coke in glass which made me sad. Good thing the delicious chicken taco cheered me right up Happy to have you back, Las Cuatro Milpas. I've also heard rave reviews from family and friends. Since we were suit shopping at Fashion Valley and were hanging out with my son and his girlfriend, I recommended that we eat at Chuy's for lunch. If you're a fan of value for your money and tasty Mexican food, I definitely recommend dining here. 4.5 stars for sure, but I'm glad our go to Mexican food spot, Yesenia's, is closer to us and we can visit there for amazing Mexican food as well. Chuy's Taco Shop is located in Rolando, which is close to El Cajon Blvd. and the San Diego State University area. The easiest way to get here would be the 8 freeway east or west, exiting off of 70th Street, and heading south. The taco shop is located within a small strip mall where you can find Ben & Esther's Vegan Jewish Deli, San Diego Blenders Smoothies, and Moxie Theatre. It's across the street from a tire shop. From the outside, it looks like a typical local San Diego Mexican fast food joint, but you can immediately tell that the owners are proud of their accolades displaying Guy Fieri's DDD mug and Yelp's 2025 Top 100 Places To Eat distinction on its front glass window. As you step inside, you'll see several homages to Guy Fieri of DDD fame with a framed signed picture, another framed signed pic with Guy's caricature, and one of their televisions showing the DDD episode featuring Chuy's. There's a good amount of tables and chairs to dine in, several televisions, distressed laminate wood flooring, and accolades hanging on their walls that the restaurant has garnered. Friendly and professional customer service from the lady behind the register, who also doubled as our server. Not sure anything can be done about this, but flies also liked Chuy's food as we had to keep fanning our food. I've been blessed to eat at several DDD restaurants throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona and I have enjoyed every single one I dined at. Having eaten at Chuy's Taco Shop for the first time, I understand why Guy Fieri did a segment here. What I really appreciated about Chuy's was their value for your money. When you dine here, be prepared for large portions, so definitely come hungry. Whenever I eat at any Mexican fast food spot, I order the same go to items that my family and I order at our favorite restaurant Yesenia's. Since I was breaking bread with my wife, son, and his girlfriend, we ordered the following: two carne asada burritos; five rolled tacos with cheese, guacamole, and lettuce; full order carne asada chips; half order of carne asada fries; and a pineapple agua fresca. I wanted to compare what we typically order from Yesenia's. When you eat at Chuy's, the amount of food you get will feed an army. I didn't expect the carne asada burritos to be the length of my forearm. I got to eat some of my son's and it was delicious and satisfying. The star of our meal were the rolled tacos. It was stuffed full with tasty beef, crunchy, and its components were memorable. We barely touched the carne asada chips because we ordered too much, but they aren't stingy with their carne asada both for the chips and their fries. The half order of carne asada fries were plenty and I enjoyed that dish. The pineapple drink was refreshing and helped beat the toasty weather. I still feel Yesenia's is better quality, but for the amount of food at Chuy's, it's a must visit Mexican restaurant. I'm glad I got to finally experience Chuy's Taco Shop and check off another Guy Fieri featured DDD restaurant. If I'm in the area, I will definitely stop by to try their other menu items, but I'm glad our fave Mexican fast food spot is closer to us to satisfy our Mexican food cravings.

The con is that all three tacos have to be the same meat, you cannot mix and match. The tacos are filled with a lot of meat and each taco is has a double tortilla and I felt that you could essentially turn one taco into two with the portion. My boyfriend got a burrito and it was massive - as big as my fore arm! He really enjoyed it and it had a lot of meat inside. We also got a horchata which was refreshing for the heat but pretty sweet. The place was great for a quick lunch. You order at the counter before self seating and then they bring the food out when it's ready. They have a huge menu with a lot to choose from. They also have a salsa bar with about 4 different salsas, but my complaint is that none of them are spicy enough.
