Loved here! We got here as soon as it opened at like 1pm i believe.. the one problem i have with outdoor seating in Mexico is the flys. There are herbs that can be placed at table to deter flies and also water bags work. It's the worse to try to eat and swat flies at the same time. I will say it's such a cute cozy intimate place. The menu has some great options and they have an amazing quinoa veggie salad for my vegans as well as mushroom tacos served with romaine lettuce shells or corn tortillas. I opted for the Romain lettuce shells and the tacos were amazing. This was one of my favorite meals this trip. They have a good wine menu and beer.. and i believe a full bar. Another great thing is we took our doggy's and the were very accommodating to them as well which is always a plus for me. read more

Our Airbnb hosts recommended this spot...delicious. I'm STILL dreaming about the portabello tacos from their appetizer menu. The margarita left a little to be desired though...seemed to use Fanta or some kinda soda instead of a fresh margarita mix. This is an absolutely must if you're in Ensenada. The grilled octopus is to die for and some of the best I've ever had. The NY pasta and risotto are more than delicious. I honestly don't think there's anything here I haven't liked. Close your eyes and point and see how Ensenada is really coming up! Arrachera: very juicy and flavorful, some of the best arrachera I have ever had. Accompanied by green onion, Serrano and fries . Seafood Linguine: pasta was perfect, abundant seafood and seasoned well. Oyster: they are super fresh and served with a soy/red onion/serrano sauce. This is now my absolute favorite way to have oysters. If anything, come here just to try these!!! If I could give 0 stars I would! They wouldn't accommodate to us not having phones. They only care about their regular customers and served them before us even though we were there first! This place nearly ruined by birthday and I about started crying at the table. My poor boyfriend was absolutely livid. We had driven down from Pasadena, CA. I had rented a special dress. We show up an hour before closing time and we're told we'd have to order fast. The restaurant was half full, but OK. Great! Fine! We sit and dive into the menu piecing together a spectacular once-a-year splurge when some other person comes over to tell us without any sign of regret that all we can order is pizza and salad. What? We are stunned speechless. No way. No. No. No. After some haggling, a little firm pushback and perhaps some begging they agree to make us a few appetizers. Never once did the manager come over to explain the situation, let alone apologize, offer us a glass of wine or ANYTHING to ease the blow of a terrible disappointment. Never once did the manager give a crap, and it's a fairly small restaurant so he sure knew we were there and very upset. Why? So they could get home half an hour faster? REALLY? I seriously could not believe how cold they were about the whole thing. Oh, I, too, am a server in a nice Italian restaurant in Pasadena and we NNEEVVEERR would have treated anyone this way whether it was their birthday or not. This was a beautiful opportunity to make someone's birthday absolutely unforgettable, to help someone go home that night feeling special on her special day after having an incredible meal and delicious wine. It would have been nice to laugh and connect with our server as tourists with a local as we did the night before. It could have been wonderful and instead my birthday ended quietly and bitterly. One star for what little food we were allowed to order. It was good. One star for our server for offering to take photos even though he knew we were fighting to not be miserable. The place is nice and most of the staff are too, but when we got there first I asked if they have vegan options and they said yes, but at the table, the waiter said they cannot make any vegan because it take too much time to the kitchen. It turned out to be about 2 miles north of that location but I won't hold it against them because it is not their fault. My girlfriend and me stopped by after hearing good things about their food by some savvy foodie friends. They had just open for business that day, we were told that we could sit anywhere by what we thought was either an owner or manager, so we sat there for about 20 minutes and no one ever came by to provide any sort of service, so we got up and on our way out the same lady saw us and asked if we were leaving, we said yes and that's it, she was not concerned nor interested at all, fortunately, Ensenada has a los of great places to eat, we will never go back, they should take costumer service classes from Javier Plasciencia, he truly knows the business and really cares. read more

Ophelia is so close to being a five star, but I have to give them only four because every piece of fish and scallop brought to the table was horribly overcooked. It was such a shame because the flavors and concepts were very creative and delicious. One of the dishes had mole with the fish, which would seem like it would overpower the dish but it did not. The mole was surprisingly light and a great accent. Mine had a molasses sauce accent and potatoes which were delicious, but the fish was downright chewy. The scallop appetizer was as rubbery as a tire. Maybe try something other than seafood if you are planning to visit. The wait staff was very attentive. They did bring a delicious complimentary chocolate mousse because of our experience. I hope they get some new support staff in the kitchen so the food can shine as it should. The chef is clearly very talented. I will go back in the future and try again because I would love to see this place succeed. read more

This restaurant is a little hidden gem. I was introduced to Ophelia from a friend who is from the Tijuana area as we were on our way to Ensendada. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you get inside it's a very cool atmosphere. We were in somewhat of a hurry but the staff did a great job accommodating us and brought our food out quickly. The patio was very pleasant. The food was fantastic. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and everyone I was with loved all of them. The seared tuna was probably the best. It melted in your mouth. Their scallops de aguachile were so tasty along with the grilled octopus. The margarita was a bit sour but the food was delicious. Everything tasted very fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Ensenada. I am already planning a trip to go back when I have more time. read more

FYI, the address on Google Maps is accurate so use that in lieu of the Yelp address. The owners of Ophelia must fix their address on Yelp as well as the hours. Amazing non-touristy restaurant with a huge fashionable outdoor terrace. The menu is seafood forward. We had several appetizers: the tuna wontons, shrimp in phylo dough, clam chowder and another dough wrapped shrimp app with a tamarind sauce. All of the apps were excellent. The service is excellent, the restaurant is beautiful. The margaritas were proper, tart and not too sweet. This is a must-stop in Ensenada. read more

The tuna and mushroom tostadas are amazing. I could have made my whole meal out of them. Instead, my son and I split that as an appetizer, then I had the fish of the day mole' style and he had a seafood pasta dish. Both were delicious. Deserts looked great too, but we had no room. We didn't have any other "upscale" meals while in Ensenada, so I don't have much to compare it with, but by American standards this was a highly recommendable meal for a reasonable (again US standards) price.
