Good with the meal $33. Two others with me liked their food also. Wife had a steak and a duck taco. The duck one was very good and steak was a bit fatty and spicy for her. Pass on this place. I came here over Memorial Day weekend and it was a huge disappointment. Service was terrible. The server recommended the Nebbiolo bottle of wine which was extremely acidic. I ordered the mushroom soup which was extremely salty. It did not have any notes of mushroom. My friend ordered the sashimi which she said tasted like it had been thawed. The best dish was the pesto pasta which was bland but at least not overly salted. Ubers do not come here after dinner hours so be warned. The waiter never brought dessert and actually told the person who ordered it that she did not order dessert. We all heard her when she did. That was a first for me. The view is nice but I would never recommend anyone make the trip here in light of the fact there are so many other dining options in the Valle. read more

After 4 days in Valle de Guadalupe, this was our last meal of the trip. And everything was amazing! From the customer service, to the decor, the view of the vineyards while eating lunch, to the amazing food. There are no complaints! We ordered a bit of everything and shared: - oysters on the 1/2 shell and oyster shooters - octopus ceviche - tuna sashimi with scallops - cow tongue -finger ribs (which we think are goat ribs) - an aged ribeye - lime water - beer - check split between 4 people would've been around $35-40 per person This restaurant was on my top 3 favorite restaurants I tried down in Baja California. First time experiencing this particular eatery, but an avid and passionate admirer of all things 'Valle de Guadalupe'. Firstly... the ambiance and overall setting of the restaurant are the epitome of fine-contemporary-dining. Indeed... my experiences within (for the last decade or so) Valle de Guadalupe as a whole are that they have almost perfected the aforementioned dining experience. And this gem follows in the footsteps of other well-known and reputable chef created/curated establishments of the area. My husband enjoyed his prime rib and risotto as well as the garlic-butter infused shrimp with the potato purée. (He was super hungry and very satisfied) There were multiple sangrias and some local vintner dry red for me.(Not disclosing my preference amongst the hundreds of wineries here--as that is a matter of palatable preference and I believe in the fabulousness of every vineyard here) For myself, it was the grilled lamb chops served medium-rare and to perfection! With baked vegetables and a bit of puréed potatoes-mint jelly as well. Every bit of the lamb was succulent and the uniquely tangible smoky-chariness of the mesquite utilized was well noticed and frankly intoxicating! My husband and I have every intention of visiting this wonderful eatery during our next stay. Why only the Four-Star rating and not Five you may ask?? Well... because there was a very minor miss for me, which I must clarify may not be a questionable dilemma for others when it comes to a dish served to you. And that is the following: SALT. I had a bite of my husbands cornucopia of a meal and everything was seasoned to perfection! But as for my meal, the grilled vegetables were lacking in flavors. They felt bland and slightly too undercooked for my taste. Still, I devoured them after a light sprinkle of the condiment. La Esperanza is our favorite restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe. I seriously would drive 4 hours down the border just to eat here. The service is great and the food is SUPERIOR! We were recommended this restaurant by our Airbnb host and we have nothing but compliments. these chefs here really know how to execute their seafood dishes. Every time we try something new it's never a disappointment. Some of our favorites are the grilled octopus, the oyster del chef, Madagascar tuna, the vegan shot, and their catch of the day. The atmosphere is both cozy and modern. We also feel safe dining here during covid because of the tables were spaced out and workers all wear masks properly. read more

Worst experience ever! So disappointing! Now we know why every other restaurant in the Valle is crowded and there are so few guests here. We were here for a birthday. We advised in Spanish that our friend was highly allergic to sesame. After his first bite, he almost died. Thankfully the epi pin and 4 benadryl worked. My grilled scallops came. There was no grilled flavor and they were small, hard, chewy, grissly and completely inedible. My husband's supposedly flambe lamb was a pile of torn tasteless unrecognizable, who knows what. Both were inedible. We told the server. We could see the chef looking angry and told a staff member to tell us we didn't know how the food should look and taste and they wouldn't take them off of our bills. The other guests had burned portobellos, tasteless tacos. The guest who almost died was afraid to eat anything. Our bill was $40 per person and no one ate. Miguel Angel, I hope that if you had been there, the experience would have been different. There would have been quality control, and if not, the staff would not have been defensive. What a surprise!! This hip vineyard reclaimed-chic style overlooks its winery and offers really high quality Cali contemporary dining. We stopped by per recommendation of our host and were fed delicious tuna sashimi topped with stylish rustic crunchyness like kale and Mexican fusion sauces, followed by grilled octopus so tender it would compete with Nancy Silverton's version at Spacca in LA. Not sure what the complaints about service are about in some of the other reviews. I have always found the service here to be professional, old-world, and on point. Maybe people expect American-style service, which honestly annoys me. Too intrusive. The food here is amazing. I have always been a big fan of La Querencia in Tijuana, and this restaurant in the Valle does not ever disappoint. Situated on the beautiful vineyards of LA Cetto, it's the perfect food served in the perfect setting. I would have gone back today but they are closed on Tuesdays ... Do not order the shrimp with vegetables! It was terrible, the vegetables they state in the menu were two small slices of green and red pepper, a couple slices of white onion, 1 small sliced mushroom, one small potato that was served almost raw! Plus it was almost $27.00 dollars! The shrimp was good. But not worth the $27.00 dollars. The bread they give you are the tiny 2 inch toast you can buy at the .99 cent store. We ordered the 4 cheese pasta. Sauce was watery and ok in flavor. They'll ask you if you want a protein. Beware! My husband chose the octopus to add. For what looked like a couple chicken tenders they charged$10.00 dollars extra! Outrageous. Beer was around 3.50 and the plain carbonated water with lemon aka lemonada was 4:00! I ordered the mixed salad which was good but it was $10.00 which anyplace else would be about $5.00. They bring two hot chili sauces and one non hot sauce. That one was not good. The place is ok in ambience, there was no one there except a couple of tables of two. Service was excellent because no one was there but I felt like I was in a old Chinese restaurant. They were very annoying because they kept cleaning the table every time we moved a glass. We will never go there again! My husband and I stopped by here over the weekend for lunch and we enjoyed it a lot! The scenery is stunning and the location is easy to find off the main road. We are both vegetarians and this restaurant had very good options. We ordered a grilled vegetable salad that was super fresh, super tasty, and full of vegetables (sometimes these types of salads can be lame, but this was the best one I've ever had!). We also ordered a hibiscus taco with goat cheese and a portobello mushroom burrito. Both were very small so we ended up getting extras--and the second burrito came with shrimp, so be specific that you want the vegetarian one--but they were very good and we thought reasonably priced. Most of the food is very good, the view is great and the staff is good. We came 2 weeks ago and enjoyed everything. We came back on St Patricks day and it didn't work out so well. A little while after we arrived they got very busy and the service dropped off. A few of the things we asked for we didn't get, drinks, salsas, salt and pepper. I ordered scallops and when it arrived it was almost inedible, very tough, not something I could enjoy and I'm very tolerant. One of the staff took it away but it took so long for the waiter to come back so I could order something else I decided to pass. We asked for the check and commented on the slow service which the waiter apologized for deeply. But then infuriatingly, as he was returning with our change and factura(reciept) he stopped and chatted with another table for 5 minutes. It gets freezing cold in Valle de Guadalupe and this place only has 4 heaters.. we were a party of 16 and they kept seating people scattered around the restaurant with no regard to the large group.. Waiters kept saying "of their being used..." but we kept saying .." why don't you sit people adjacent to each other so the the few heaters you have can be better utilized..!" Very cool place. I wish more Californians knew about the wine country in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. The food is phenomenal and the wine is very amazing. Service is a 10 with super personal attendance. These guys are on top of it. The chef is in the kitchen running the show and I have not one complaint about the food. I had started with 2 Pepe Oysters which were prepared fresh with a few sauces and toppings, then for my main course I had Chille Relleno which was stuffed with veggies, duck, goat cheese, and a few other very delicious ingredients. For dessert I had a flan which was good but ordinary with a cappuccino. The scenery is picturesque with grape vines and a mountain in the background. We had an excellent rainy Sunday afternoon here yesterday. The restaurant is large and open air, bringing the beautiful landscape and vineyard into the restaurant to meld as one. La Esperanza is located at the entrance to LA Cetto winery, an ideal area, and serves the delicious wines from the same winery by the glass exclusively. I had a deliciously crisp sauvignon blanc as I partook in the rich salsas they bring to the table with fresh homemade bread to start the meal. The salsas run from hot to hotter... Green, red and then a habañero cream... All muy delicioso!! Our dishes were lovely... We ordered the mixed sashimi with sliced avocado, an abalone and chorizo sope and a large plate of grilled octopus with tomato concasse. All of the dishes were of the highest quality, incredibly fresh and perfectly delicious. If you are in Valle de Guadalupe ( which you just have to go to because it is absolutely awesome!!!) you must spend an afternoon here relaxing, drinking, eating, taking photos and well, just living the good life!! Got there about 12:30 right off the bat, we felt rushed not welcomed. The hostess/server (Blonde) Not the Freckled one!) aproched us, asked me if I had a reservation, I said no and tought to myself; a reservation at 12:30 with 95% of the Restaurant empy??mmm... That question felt pretentious; like the whole food and experience was, starting from the servers to the chefs. She said she had a table but it needed to be available at 2:30pm. So now you can relate why we felt unwelcomed. I like to give an honest chance to anyone especially restaurants since I know it requires commitment to cosistency to create great results. But this restaurant had neither. The food once prepared by the chefs, is left for the servers to pick up, from the the pick up window, and while is sitting there is sampled by an army of Flies, parking on the food. The servers didn't seem to mind or concerned about the Fly problem. I got sick from the food I ordered, I spent the whole night blotted and the next morning I vomitted what my body rejected from this unfortunite meal. I ordered the tongue sashimi, the duck tacos, the roasted octupus, the flavor just tasted off, the food or the vegetables/lettuces that where together with the plate, did not tasted fresh. At the end of the meal, there was an instance in the pick up window(I was seated in table #1 infront of the pick up window), a server pointed out to the chef, that there was something on a plate, the chef proceded to remove the item, which seem to be a human hair. He turned towards me to check if I had noticed, and I turned away to see if he corrected the matter replacing the plate without knowing I noticed; he did not. Most overpriced, over pretentious service restaurant I visited in the Valle de Guadalupe Valley; save your health, money, and good spirits for a restaurant that actually deservers it. Do not go here; they are Pretenders/Not Doers! They should actually learn what Chef Placencia Does(Exellence)! Not just try to copy, and Pretend its the same. Because its Not!! read more
