Nice little homey gem in the middle of Arlington. I never expected to find a little place like this on the corner of Sanford and Center. It's a very calming atmosphere that reminds you of a fancy bed and breakfast. Service here is mellow, friendly, and personable. The menu is very focused and only showcases a few items, but they're all pretty good. I've ordered the crab cake benedict and salmon in the past; both were solid choices that weren't too over the top or expensive. Honestly, it's easy to forget that you're in Arlington while you're there. If you're looking for a nice little "getaway", Restaurant506 is an awesome place to be. read more

I've driven past the Sandford House for years and I knew in the last 4-5 that it was a B&B. I had nno idea however about Restaurant 506 which is open to the public. I stopped by one Saturday morning to get a gift certificate for some friends and noticed the dining room was full, more than it would be for just regular guest and the person helping me told me they were open for brunch. I love brunch so thought it would be nice for some of the girls to get together after Sunday service. The place is so charming. The dining room or rooms would be differnt rooms in an old house and we were seated in what I would think would be the parlor since it had a beautiful fireplace. We had a reservation and although a few minutes late we were seated immediatly. We were cheerfully greated by our server and she went over the menu. One thing she did forget to mention was the special for that day as we heard another server discribe it to his table. No worries I believe we were all satififed with our meal. I had the Bacon & Spinach Frittata the eggs were very fluffy and cooked perfectly. The spinach was crispy like the bacon and served on top with potatoes and a wonderful pesto vinigrette. There were so many pleasing options to choose from and we were served warm mini-carrot muffins. It was just a wonderful atmosphere for brunch and I cannot wait to return to try other dishses. read more

We went there for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Kobe beef burger. I asked for it to be medium rare. It was well done. But that's not my gripe. Don't say it's Kobe when it's not. I have had Kobe from snake river farms and this was jus5 plane old hamburger. I was in Japan last month. Had a Kobe burger at the hotel, it was wonderful. The one at 506 was worse than a Big Mac. The potato's were under cooked. Seems like they made them in the morning and just nuked them. Well half were still raw. I don't think this place has long if this is how they make their food. If the owner reads this. Post a picture proving that was Kobe beef. read more

This place is well on its way to becoming one of my favorites. I had brunch here for the first time last weekend. I decided to try 2 of the dishes: the Crab Cakes Benedict and the Pecan French Toast. Both were delightful. I'm excited to try some of the other entrees next time. I also had 2 of the drinks: the Blood Orange Tini and a Passion Fruit Mimosa - it was brunch of course. Both were tasty but I prefer the Blood Orange drink to the mimosa. As delicious as they were, the drinks were not particularly strong, but that may not matter as much to others. I did feel a little under dressed for this establishment in my ripped jeans and cowboy boots. Everyone around me had on more "snappy casual" and business causal attire. I don't believe there is a dress code, but maybe I missed the memo, lol. I definitely recommend trying this place out. Well worth your time and taste buds. read more

Came her at 11:30 in the morning for brunch on a Saturday. It really is a nice looking building, one of the nicest I've seen actually. There were 5 of us, they got mimosas, I got a sweet tea. They had an interesting menu which they seem to change up a lot. I got the short rib tacos, they came out really fast. They had a lot of stuff on them and came with potatoes. The tacos were really good and filling, nice use of rib. The potatoes weren't great and I think maybe a hash would work. I also tried some of my friend's crab egg Benedict and it was really good. I'd absolutely go back, really great date spot and very cheap. read more

Valentine's Dinner was our first experience here and won't be our last. We ordered from the fixed Valentine's menu and we both tried different appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and we loved them all. I assumed it would be "fancy" food with small portions but that was definitely not the case. Presentation was lovely. Portions were large, creative, and most importantly, delicious. Craft cocktails were unique and very good. Service was wonderful. Maybe this isn't considered a "hidden gem" because it's apparently well known to many, but it was a most excellent find for us! Happy Valentine's Day what an experience reservation was made six weeks in advance to experience the romantics setting on the holiday weekend upon arriving 15 minutes before the reservation the very young hostess took us outside to a place that looks like a mother-in-law suite as well as we're the pool boy which day there was only one other couple in there to servers and it was very cold inside, we seated and then discussed this arrangement and speaking with the two servers and asked if we could be seated inside the home meaning restaurant instead of in the pool house and for $85 per person and they bring your meal from the kitchen that is in the house and then even put a lid on the dish in the temperatures were in the low 30s finally we were seated why the fireplace which by the way only 15% of the entire inside was occupied upon our arrival that's why there's a very big? On why the young hostess took us on a tour and voyage to the pool house server for the evening with a professional however the 1 12 ounce steak that was ordered medium well first came back to medium rare then medium and the medium well so another words it had to be sent back twice all for $87 but dessert was good the appetizer was good the meat itself with the steak is nice but it wasn't cooked the right way the first two times no manager came to find out what was going on nobody addressed it for a discount or some kind of reprieve and the entire bill for two people with one cocktail each one is $250 with tip that's the reason for the one star we were here years ago on Mother's Day and they had the same entitlement attitude just because they own the restaurant and they can't explain simple things because they refused to take responsibility as adults and rather take the child like avenues, stay away. read more

This was our first visit to the restaurant. We had previously looked at the location online when considering wedding venues. Today, we had a brunch with some friends and had the breakfast brunch burger, creole biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, and the pork belly benedict. Everything was delicious and seasoned very well! The prices are reasonable and the service was fantastic. We would definitely visit again The atmosphere is very classy for a bunch location and has a homey feel (tables are quite close to each other, so it feels packed). I'm thinking they use the same china and silverware when catering for special events, pretty smart to multipurpose the items. We didn't visit the bar or the spa, but went to explore the courtyard after our meal. There are rooms upstairs, so this would be a neat b&b if you want to have a day of relaxation or a weekend "getaway". Parking in front of the restaurant is quite small but they have additional parking across the street. read more

The food was great, and the dining area felt like we were in a Christmas movie. It was beautifully decorated, and felt so warm and cozy. The service was only so so. I had to ask for limes for my tea 3 times, and I didn't get them until our entree came out. My glass went empty twice. Towards the end of the meal we were the only table in the dining area we were in, and the two staff doing the reset talked louder than the 3 tables that had just left, normally this wouldn't bother me, but this is supposed to be more formal dining experience. read more

This is a wonderful resturant, my husband and I enjoyed brunch here. I look forward to returning for dinner. Service was excellent, and the experience all together was great. The food was amazing, flavorful, the flavors just popped in your mouth. To start our meal off we were given mini muffins, they were the best muffins I had in my life. My new fav place. Such a romantic spot. Its pricy so most can only go on a special occasion or do what we did. We ate a later lunch so we went not starving & mostly shared. We started with drinks, I wanted coffee which was very good & my husband ordered an Old Fashioned which my husband said was the best he'd ever had. I got the house salad. I has greens, delicious candied pecans, red onions, tomatoes tossed with a vinegrette. We shared 2 starters, crab cakes & scallops. I got a bite of crab lol. The scallops are delicious. We ended with 2 desserts, chocolate crem brulee & bread pudding. Both were amazing. Our total was a little less than $100 with tip. It was a great Saturday night. read more

First of all, we had made a reservation 20 days in advance and chose 11:00 am for our time. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas and we were looking forward to eating in such a beautiful dining room. We chose Restaurant 506 because of the lovely atmosphere of its dining rooms. We arrived early for our reservation. The hostess asked us to follow her to our table. we thought it strange because she took us to a back hallway and then into the bar where she seated us at a table practically in front of a doorway. There was no one seated in the beautiful dining room. we should hAce spoken up at that time but didn't. Our waiter was very inattentive. Only saw him about 3 times. When we were told they needed our table, I asked why we were seated in the bar I was told something about reservations that made no sense. I told her I had had a reservation for a long time, she said "Sorry you had a bad experience ", and she just turned and walked away. I do not think she was sorry at all. I have been there many times but will not return. read more

So close to writing a 5 star review. I would also come close to saying this is the best restaurant in all of Arlington. I will say so in terms of many facets, such as ambiance..the upscale cottage quaintness the house has and views of the wrap around porch while you are dining. The Food... it's delicious and worth the price points. I had to deduct because the description of the chicken dish.. "flattened with mushroom sauce", it was not flattened out but a thick breast? Husband and I were a bit disappointed by that description? Friday night is the prime rib special, which my father in law got and it looked absolutely like the best prime rib this side of the Mississippi. As did the extra thick pork chop. We also loved the little complimentary appetizers they serve, such as gelato and their spin on a caprese salad hors d'oeuvres. Entrees do not come out too fast... this is a perfect old fashioned place to get a reservation if you do not want to be rushed, so you can relax and actually converse with your party. They serve bread, things to keep you eating. They really pamper you here with a smile and southern style hospitality. Great stylish staff, well dressed, with bright personalities. There is a little bar, the "Van Gogh" bar, that has a tv you can catch a game or whatever. Small but has little hightop tables for parties of up to 4/5. It's cute. Whole place has a plantation house feel that's very lavish, and being it's a bed & breakfast adds to the charm. We will definitely be back especially for the brunch!!! Love that this place was this good, as we usually go to Piccolo Mondo. Not anymore!!!! I expected there be only a few tables full... no way it was a packed house. I had a CA friend fly into Arlington for a couple of hours. We were looking for a place to grab a drink and a nice meal. I always like something different so 506 looked like the place that would fit that bill. Wow, for my taste this place is perfect. Small, interesting decorations and outstanding service. Our bartender knows how to make a man sized drink that put a smile on my face. We left the bar and walked into the next room for dinner. I would guess there are less than 10 tables. Our meals were perfect. I had never had a lamb loin before but it was excellent. We were here very early when they opened at 5:30 so were able to fit right in. I would bet that reservations might be a good idea if you came any later. Anyway, we don't get to Arlington often but this is a gem we will keep in mind for the next time we are there! read more

This was my first time at brunch. I was slightly disappointed with the food. Oh, it was good, but it seemed as if it had sat in the kitchen for a while. The eggs didn't seem as freshly cooked eggs are and the potatoes were not hot like they had just come out of a skillet. My other visits to Restaurant 506 were both very good. The Sanford House Restaurant has charming atmosphere and is conveniently located in downtown Arlington. I have been there a few times for brunch and for dinner under the previous chef, and the food was always good. They have a new chef, as of the last 2 months, and in my opinion he has a few things to work out. We had a lovely brunch today, seated in the picture window overlooking the front porch. Service was, meh...not great, not terrible. Two of us ordered the crab Benedict. Both came out lukewarm at best. Potatoes seemed rewarmed, not fresh. We ordered the Creme Brûlée trio for dessert. All 3 were disappointing. They were not true creme brûlée, but a very soft, runny pudding, with a cold caramelized top. They were not freshly caramelized, but done previously and refrigerated, which made the top soft. On the plus side, prices are reasonable. The cranberry mimosa and bloody Mary's were very good. The little muffins they bring out in lieu of bread are delicious! I would go back for brunch, but would make sure the waiter knew that lukewarm eggs would not be acceptable. I think they need to heat the plates prior to dishing up the food. I hope the chef is listening....... read more

Needed a place for brunch before the Cowboy's game, and I'm so glad we found this epicurean wonder. It's located in a residential area in an older house very reminiscent of New Orleans. The interior was bright, inviting and gorgeous. We were greeted right away by a charming hostess who sat us right away even though we were twenty minutes early for our reservation. Our waiter, James, saw to us right away and explained the menu options very well. We started with cocktails--the Bloody Caesar for Bill and the French 506 for me (a delightful and refreshing blend of pineapple infused vodka and champagne). I've been sick for several days, so this was my first non soup meal, and I was in tastebud heaven with the Crab Cake Benedict. Delightfully flaky, crisp crab cakes topped with a perfect tangy, buttery hollandaise and perfectly cooked poached eggs. This was combined with home fries with the perfect crispy on the outside and soft on the inside delight. I didn't lick my plate, but only because others were looking. Bill had the Pecan Praline French Toast. It might sound a bit too sugary, but it had the perfect balance of sweet without being over powering. I stole a bite and felt a little closer to the angels. I might have actually hummed. All in all a fabulous experience both sensory and culinary. Definitely planning to try dinner here the next time I visit Arlington. read more

I'm a little biased toward this place because it's hiding in plain sight in Arlington, attached to a little family run hotel. The first time I met Camille she insisted on showing me the entire property (Sanford House) and introducing me to her chef. I go here because it's gourmet dining on Arlington pricing. She wasn't there when I came by this week but I think her sister was there in her place at the host stand. We went to the bar and got talked into French 75's with cognac tails, which were impressively built by our bartender. John, the chef, came out and knows I usually get the burger, which is Rodeo Goat caliber good. He saw what we were drinking and recommended crab cakes, which were lighter than I expected and fantastic. Came with a spicy pesto. I saw chicken Saltimbocca on the menu and had to try it. It was amazing. The polenta was superb and they didn't skimp on the Prosciutto. It's an older crowd and can feel like a tea room, and the parking situation there leaves much to be desired. However, with Cacherel and Olenjack's gone, this is the best cuisine in north Arlington and you're missing out if you haven't dined there. read more

Great environment, wait staff and food! I had my husbands surprise party hater in the courtyard. Krista the event coordinator is fabulous, she was always friendly and made herself available to any questions. The banquet manager (I can't remember his name ) was AWESOME!!!! His expertise and friendliness helped to make everything go great! The food was excellent and so was the service. The only bad thing was they part of the cake we were saving (after it was cut) was left outside, so the icing started sliding off. Otherwise everything went FABULOUS!!!! read more

What an amazing evening to be had at Restaurant 506 with Chef John Klein. The wife and I made a night of it and attended his cooking demonstration and dinner. On the menu, artichoke dip stuffed oysters, grilled cesar salad, crusted steak with potato cakes and chocolate smo'res. First off, the wait staff are exceptional. They keep the tables clean and everyone's glass full. With about a 35 person cap to each event, you got to get your tickets early. The cooking demonstration was a blast to watch as chef Klein gives some great examples and cooking tips. Just as he's finishing up his dish, your dinner is served. I believe my only critique of the event was that the dinner courses were very rushed due to the time constraints I think. There wasn't enough time to talk with your table guests nor finish watching the chef prepare the dish before the next item was being delivered. I'm almost positive the wife and I will be back to learn more tips, and meet new friends. I know our table guests and I have already planned our next event out for October together!
