The very first restaurant that I visited in Paris, completely by chance. Vingt-Deux's menu appealed to my wife & I, so we gave it a shot.
Discovered that the French tend to eat later in the evening, so we felt slightly out of place upon arriving at 5:30 PM for dinner. Only the maitre 'd was the only one available, to which he escorted us inside past the bar area and into a somewhat private area that had a small partition. Very polite, of which he gave a reasonable amount of time to peruse the menu.
After choosing a duck entree w/salad (she had the penee pasta with salmon), our meals were presented with mineral water & bread. There was a mixture of French & American music that had a relaxed flow already playing throughout the restaurant, which already added to the ambiance. The maitre 'd actually left us alone for quite a while, checking on occasion in passing towards the downstairs kitchen/employee area.
Dessert for her featured vanilla ice cream with chocolate drizzle & whipped cream, served in a regular dessert glass. The maitre 'd offered myself a cafe nightcap, to which I politely declined in order to finish my mineral water. It was around 6:45 PM when we discovered that the late crowd started to fill the restaurant's seats, thus concluding our evening.
Will certainly return. read more
