It's rare you find a true hidden gem, but the restaurant at the Rossi Hotel is worthy of the title. Don't let the hotel lobby vibe put you off. The food is of the highest quality. Fresh ingredients sourced from a private farm and prepared with care and artistry make for surprisingly delicious meal.
At other restaurants you might expect to pay 1.5 or 2x for this quality of food, but the unpretentious setting and the nature of the business (which supports youths with handicaps and trains them in the kitchen) means you get your money's worth and more.
We started with a pumpkin soup which was so fresh it felt like it had been a pumpkin minutes before it was served. For our mains I had a delicious pork knuckle (a must when visiting Berlin) and my wife had the duck. Somehow pork knuckle, sauerkraut, pea mash and mustard were made *much* better than the sum of their parts. The duck was similarly extraordinary.
We finished the meal with a lemon tart with a beautiful plating and equally wonderful set of flavors.
