The food, the service, the scenery 10 out of 10 would recommend. Love the music the space they have a beach and hammocks to relax at as well. We were a walk in party of 15 the restaurant was pretty much empty at the time. The only thing is the kitchen is smaller than most so the food did take awhile which makes sense for a party of our size, but they were very accommodating. All the food and drinks were amazing. The pina colada was the only thing that people said was okay because it melted extremely fast and the texture was more icy than smooth and creamy. Came here to get some beach time. Nice private beach so if you want a chair with some shade its a 500 peso minimum per person which goes towards food and drinks. Drinks were great. Waters were in huge glass bottles. Fish Ceviche - DO NOT PASS THIS UP!! It is freshly made!! The lime juice mixture has ginger or lemongrass its legit AMAZING!! This is a sweet little gem away from the "strip" in Tulum, each item I ate or drank was fantastic. We went with other recommendations and got the lobster pasta (yum) and the tuna nachos (double yum). The fish ceviche was fresh and delicious. Word of warning for sensitive tummies: the mixed ceviche does have raw shrimp, so if that makes you squeamish, stick with the fish ceviche. I lost my mind for a moment and ate some salad which I think may have given me food poisoning, but that's my fault, I should have known better. Great location, isn't too busy, Italian seafood options, great service. Got the lobster risotto, sat outside on the patio where there are hammocks and beach cabanas. We were one of two groups there. All of a sudden it started raining, so they quickly moved us inside. Food was good, octopus, lobster were the fresh seafood of the day. So we got the shrimp, and lobster risotto and a glass of wine for around 130 pesos (so under $10). The lobster risotto was around $380 so that's under $20. All around good pricing. Best of all; the staff went out to grab a taxi for us in the pouring rain while we waited inside. Would go again. read more

We came here late on a Monday night (around 9pm) and they were easily able to accommodate our group of 8 people. The location is wonderful because it is right on the beach. Unfortunately since it was at night we couldn't see much of the water. But sitting outside and listening to the ocean was very calming. We order a bunch of appetizers and entrees. I tried the tuna nacho appetizer and the seafood app. The tuna was unbelievably fresh and a few people liked it so much they ordered another round so they didnt have to share. After all of the seafood apps, I decided i didnt need a lot of food so I went with the special house bruschetta and a salad. Salad was a bit over dressed (all of the spinach at the bottom with soaked) but tasty. The house bruschetta was soo good. They make all of the bread in house and you can tell. Because it was my friends birthday, they gave us a free round of "tequilla boom booms" which was tequilla with some sprite that you hit on the table to fizz. A fun little treat. read more

Unbelievable food! We ate here almost every meal of our Tulum trip because after the first meal we didn't want to go anywhere else. Incredibly creative dishes with very flavorful and unique sauces. We had our wedding this April at Piedra Escondida and it was truly the best week of our lives. Nayeli, who works at the front desk, is so kind, smart and hard working. She helped us plan the entire wedding and communicated with us every step of the way. She treated our friends and family like her own and went above and beyond. Martin, the chef, absolutely nailed the reception dinner and kept our bellies happy all week. In town over the Labor Day week, my friend and I were looking for a good place to stop in for lunch. Honestly, I had done all my research for dinner, so we were simply looking for a place to relax with a view and some drinks. We picked Piedra Escondida for its beach-side location and it's happy hour. Noon-7pm, 2 for 1 drinks. Best deal of the beach! They also have free parking across the street. My friend and I were virtually the only one in there. A fact that regularly amazed us during the week, as no one seemed to be around at all. We sat "outside" -- meaning outside outside, as all of the restaurants are open-air. Our table was on a patio area, allowing us to see to the beach just beyond. We enjoyed several margaritas, some tacos and shrimp aguachiles. While the tacos were good (we had shrimp and fish), they were fried. I wasn't quite expecting that. We never thought to ask if they came grilled. We also started off with this appetizer that I can't remember the name of but it was delicious. It was essentially this great homemade thick tortilla stuffed with a fish filling. Our server was very attentive and friendly, although he never really smiled. We didn't want for anything, though. The chairs to the tables were slightly uncomfortable. They are wooden with big slats. For a gal in short shorts, it's not the best seating. Our favorite dinner on our week long trip to Tulum & Cozumel. Went here looking for a beach club where we could both eat and use their beach chairs, and chose Piedra on a whim just because they had their own parking lot across the street (a rarity on Riviera Tulum). After parking we checked it out and saw it was quite cute, both the restaurant and semi-private beach area with hut-style umbrellas, and the menu not only looked good but....they took credit cards! Two rarities in one business! The server was kind enough to let us hang out on the beach for an hour before our dinner. We then decided to eat on the patio, essentially having it to ourselves. We were excited for the whole fish special, though it turned out it was more expensive than originally quoted to us (they said it was a larger fish....?) so we shared the grouper filet which came with mashed potatoes & green beans, some guac & chips as an appetizer, and margaritas because of the happy hour 2 for 1 special. Everything was beyond delicious, and very fresh. Truly amazing. The hotel looked great, I would love to come back and stay there and eat more meals! read more

I would rate the food here a 4 or a 5, however they stiffed our party when any of us paid with cash. Big time. It's sad that a couple of opportunists ruin my review for the entire place. I won't go back again. After we closed our tab they brought back incorrect change shorting us over $17 USD (without bringing back the itemized receipt). Our party wasn't ready to leave, so I asked how much for a beer. I was told 45 pesos. I ordered 3 beers. They asked me to go inside & pay. I paid with a 500 and they gave me 110 for change. I told them no, they owed me more than that and ended up having to be very insistent to get back 350. This is a beautiful location and the food that we had was delicious. I just hate that they ripped us off and blatantly tried to a second time. read more

This steakhouse was our favorite spot. We ate at a couple of other neighboring restaurants but seem to always be disappointed. Our first dinner we ate the filet mignon and mashed potatoes that came with chimichurri and toasted bread along with the taco trio. Both were amazing. We came everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner. Martin was a excellent host who catered to all our, Miguel was great as well. Best part is the restaurant over looks the ocean and you get a nice breeze while eating. read more

Almost forgot to mention, there was soft live music playing while we were there and they have beach chairs you can use after your meal. Driving down the beach strip in Tulum looking for a laid back place for lunch, we found Piedra Escondida. The drink special of 2 for 1 margaritas was a nice perk too. We parked in their lot across the street, which is also a nice touch for that compact, ped-friendly area. We sat on the back portion of the open air restaurant. The view was specular. Went here because my husband was craving pasta. The site on the beach is very nice. The sopa de lima we had as an appetizer was very good. But my husband's fettucine with lobster was undercooked and some of the strands were stuck together. My lobster risotto was very dry and clumpy. The waiter, while very nice, was doing a sales job on the hotel throughout the meal. I get that he is doing his job, but it was sort of pushy. We will not go back next time we are in Tulum. read more

The best...If we count the view, it's the world, if it's only the food, then we have to say merely in Tulum. Martine is a true chef when it comes to sourcing his foods, and creating his sauces-- They often revolve around traditional Mex spices (and certainly ingredients) but can go quite original, like the roasted cauliflower, pureed with feta cheese, that underlay the fresh perfectly cooked shrimp (to give you an idea). In reviewing the accommodations I forget to give a shout out to front desk Nayelli--filled with joy and helpfulness. Getting back to restaurant: the wine and drinks were well-selected, and fairly priced. read more
