I haven't been here in several years. The food was fine, but not great. Service was friendly, but slow. The biggest drawback was the atmosphere. I remember it as being fresh modern and clean. All I can say is AMAZING!!!!! Went to Oro last night with my significant other and from the very first drink we had we were very impressed. The bartender was very friendly and made a great drink. When we were seated the waitresswas was very helpful and had a big smile . The food was no less tham fantastic, from the salad to the tartar (yum)to the lobster cakes(amazing) to the entree's , pasta for me and scallops for him both fantastic! We go to the finest resturants in Boston and to tell you the truth, ORO is right up there. The South Shore most definitly has a GEM of a restaurant for a true foodie! read more

Every time I visit Oro, I think to myself, "Why don't I come here more often?" The family and I visited for Sunday Brunch this past weekend, and everything was A-OK. Service was gracious, atmosphere was lovely, and the food was top-drawer. My one regret is that I didn't share one of the large entrees with one of my family members so that I could've had room for the luscious desserts that they serve. Great food!! As a chef i am more than delighted with the menu. Its one of those menus that are difficult to choose from. We love the corn & clam chowder. Its unlike anything you have ever had. Its so incredibly good. You can get the 'typical" New England clam chowder anywhere but this one is a one of a kind version.. a real treat!! I have never had a bad meal here. My wife and I ate here recently for our anniversery. I had to find someplace to eat and for some reason I heard mention of Oro about 5 times in a 48 hour period (nice job marketing ) and got the ear worm...but I ramble. Very nice location in the harbor with plenty of parking all around and easy to find. The restaurant itself is on the small side and the table are a bit close together. Their is also a small bar with about 12 stools. I can be a bit noisy when it's busy, but not so much that you can't hear yourself think. The food was delicious, not one thing that we ordered would I send back or not eat again. Started with a cheese plate with herbed crostini. I had the grass fed beef and my better half had a pasta dish. Dessert I had a creme broulee and she had the lava cake. They also surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne because of our anniversery. The only downside at this visit (and our server was horrified by this), were the flies. We personally killed about 5 during our meal. We thought we could barter for a discount, maybe five dollars a fly. Hopefully that was just a one time thing. She was unsure where they were all coming from, apparently they had gone so far as to get a new dumpster and move its location. Who knows. read more

Finally made it to Oro for a date night, after hearing great things. It did not disappoint! Service was great (prompt, friendly, and our server made a great wine rec) and the food was delicious. Highlights were the focaccia, the harissa chicken, and the spicy shrimp pappardelle. Really dynamic flavors. The ambience is perfect for a date night--casual enough to feel comfortable, and hip enough to feel like a special night out. We'll be back for sure! read more

Let me first say that we've had some great meals at Oro over the past year or so. Tonight was a huge surprise as our app was really tasty but the main course tasted really bad. I got the steak, with risotto and onion rings. The steak was okay with a tasty au jus sauce but the risotto and onion rings left a greasy film in your mouth after each bite. My wife got the chicken and that was very bland/dry as well. Moving on to the dessert, which is typically my favorite at Oro. There aren't many places you get Profiteroles and tonight they were completely flat covered with ice cream. When they came to the table (after waiting over 30 mins later), I moved the ice cream and could see the raw dough puck... For a meal that cost over $130.00, I'd expect a lot more. Before we even said anything the waitress said that they'd take the dessert off the bill... I'm now torn... because this is one of our favorite restaurants and tonight's meal tasted really bad. A weird vibe in this place. First off- the odor in the restaurant is off putting. You get used to it but it takes a while. Next is the poorly stocked bar(s). The first time in my life I could not get Jack Daniels. (Jim Beam but no Jack, what?!?!). The laminate floors throughout the restaurant are contrary to the cozy vibe that the building has. The food was terrible. I don't mind paying for a $30 entree if it is creative and well executed. We had three apps and two entrees. The mussels were without broth and small portioned. The oysters were not firm and had ice all over the TOP of them which waters the flavor and ruins the texture when "slurping". The Misto Del Mar was actually quite nice. The salmon dish was over cooked served on bitter collard green and covered with a chunky flavorless salsa. Strangely, it was served with the driest deep fried hush puppy I've ever had. I didn't even know what it was until looking back at the menu. The "crispy pork cutlet" was anything but crispy. More of a bready mush with a smattering of diced fingerling potatoes. These dishes were dry and unaccompanied with any flavorful pan drippings or sauces. Service was good and the food was delivered timely. read more

My husband and I ordered take out from Oro on August 14, 2020 for our wedding anniversary. It was the first time since Covid that we ordered take out. I ordered lobster cakes and my husband ordered barbequed ribs. My 2 lobster cakes arrived burned, along with some fried skinny onions ( 10) along with skimpy greens weakly dressed. The lobster cakes, though ample, were rubbery and tasted like cardboard. There was no seasoning. The sauce was tasty but again, skimpy. The ribs were just ok according to my husband. Very, very disappointing. Last week I sent the restaurant a private message on their Facebook page. Essentially writing what I have written here. There was no response but an indicator that the message had been read. We used to enjoy the food at Oro when they were in Scituate center. Never a complaint, but what we got for a hefty $65.00 , I could have done without. And to add insult to injury, to get NO response, not even a, "We are sorry", well I will never set foot there again. I could not post review w/I at least one star, but they deserve not even one star. read more

Oro is the Best! The staff always go above and beyond expectations. Due to several food intolerances (gluten, dairy, soy), I can't eat in many restaurants but the chefs at Oro work miracles in the kitchen! They create incredibly flavorful, delicious, and beautifully presented dishes that are truly amazing. Robin King's chicken is the best I've ever had anywhere! The bartenders never fail to make customers laugh, relax, and feel welcome. They are true professionals always remembering personal preferences, mixing perfectly balanced cocktails while making it look easy. I feel so lucky to live nearby. I went there on a date and it was great experience from beginning to end. We sat at the bar and experienced attentive and friendly service. We had the calamari appetizer, which was wonderful...it is some of the best calamari I've experienced...the texture was just right and the greens and peppers added a great balance of flavors. After two experiences with Oro My advise is when the food is off its mark and the waitress is thinking about whether her boyfriend is going to get his license. ...Make a big stink and complaint to the owner....this is because if you are polite and call the next day to tell them, you will get a dish full of attitude. we've dined at Oro's on several occassions and always have been pleased with the dishes and service. However this past Saturday night was not a pleasant experience. We are aware that it can be a bit noisy and vibrant but that night was exceptionally loud but due to a large party. The volume was unbearable. So much so that we could not carry a conversation with our friends, who were out celebrating two of our birthdays. We asked the server if she could say something to the table, but she responded that the manager asked her not to. Not sure why that was? We glanced over at the rowdy crowd a few times hoping to catch their attention but instead fueled someone in the party to shout out at us and basically telling us to leave if we didn't like it. It was not a comfortable position to be put in We asked for the manager who did explain that her hands were tied. Again, why? We noticed a couple of parties asked to be relocated to the lounge, and saw a couple leave the restaurant due to this obnoxious group. All we wanted to do was finish our meal and leave. We should have left after the manager's response, but had our meal served within minutes. We did speak with the owner upon leaving, who also said he was in a tough spot on approaching the large party. We are local residents who have enjoyed dining at Oro, but will think twice about returning. Not understanding why our dining experience was not valued? There are other nice dining options in the area, so it's a shame that situation could have been handled differently to let others enjoy their night out. Very dissapointed. read more

I love love love this place!! I have been here 5+ times. It's my local, really nice restaurant and I am always very excited to go. The food is absolutely top notch, amazing. Honestly. I am a big fan of Stella in the South End so was thrilled when I heard this restaurant was owned by the same people. The menu will not disappoint you! The atmosphere is really cool, parking is easy, the service is great and it's expensive but you don't care because you feel like you're getting what you pay for. The wine list is great - and exceptional if you consider that you can get nice bottles of wine for under $50. My go-to items on the menu are the corn chowder, lamb carpaccio and the endive salad. The salad sounds plain but is amazing! For dinner I always get the salmon and my husband always gets the orichette and I usually eat a good portion of his too. We always order dessert and it's always good but I am usually stuffed by the time it arrives after eating my dinner and some of my husband's! I love this place. I love taking out-of-towners here for a wow-dinner to prove that you can get fabulous dinners outside of Boston. I put this palce up against Tosca and Bia any day. read more

The 4 courses were each a masterful presentation of perfectly balanced seasonings, beautifully artistic presentation, and just the right sized proportions. I have only been here a couple of times for Sunday Brunch, but it was fantastic. Menu is limited but very tasty! Beautiful decor and very nice vibe. They have live acoustic guitarists/singer who plays a nice selection and sets a very cool vibe. The food is equally as good. My fiance had delicious Huevos Rancheros with braised pork and I loved my Eggs Benedict, which was beautifully done with avocado, tomato and a nice arugula salad. We both had a couple of Habenero Infused Vodka Bloody Mary's! They usually cut the Habenero V with some regular V so if you like it spicy like we do ask for extra Spice! Love this place! Can't wait to go back for brunch and to try it for dinner! It is quite small so I would call before showing up with a big group. read more

Guess what, Onos is not that much better, we went on a sunday afternoon, the waitress was very uninterested, the interior was plain and not very invigorating, and the food was just plain fair for an over expensive price.. Sunday brunch! Although our kids were the only ones in the restaurant, we didn't feel out of place at all. Loved the menu! I ordered the juevos rancheros (served on corn tortillas, my GF friends!!). My kids ordered a plate of maple glazed doughnuts to share before their eggs and fruit and burgers came out. Whoa. Dessert??!! Those donuts looked amazing. My husband and I enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary and listened to the live music while the kids silently chowed down on their sweet treat. We were excited to try this place, as we heard some great things about it. We stopped by on a Thursday night thinking that we would not need to wait but we were wrong, we waited 45 minutes. There was a large party that was taking up about 3 tables but the restaurant seems kind of small to allow such large parties. I would suggest that you make a reservation if you do not want to wait. The appetizer came out right away, which was fried artichokes that were slightly crispy with a tasty basil aioli sauce. It was a 45 minute wait for our meal after we ordered but we didn't mind because we were having a nice conversation about how the french people take their time serving and eating their food and we thought that maybe we would try not to be impatient Americans and enjoyed our $9 california chardonnay while waiting for the food. The waitress took our bread away right before our meal which I am sure she was trying to be helpful but we would have liked another piece of bread with our meals as there was plenty left. I had the lamb loin with the mediterranean salad and eggplant and the lamb was cooked a nice medium rare, but it was still tough and there were some sea salt crystals that were not fully dissolved so there was an off-putting crunch in my salad. The pasta with veal ragou was the highlight of the meal which was al dente and had some nice flavors. If i am in the area, I might go back to try something else and see what other improvements and/or changes they might make to their menu. PEI Mussels: $12 Pork: $23 Mushroom Risotto: Pumpkin Whoopee Pie: $6 Restaurant Oro is part of the revitalization of downtown Scituate, and it looks like they are here to stay. We called early on Saturday for a reservation that night, but the restaurant was booked. The hostess suggested a high top (first come/first served) and when we arrived the 4 high tops were taken (high top = a long, comfortable bench on one side and a chair on the other). The hostess took our cell number, and suggested we take a walk around town (to go to another bar) and she'd call when a table opened up (extremely generous, thank you!). We had to seek another bar because Oro's is located in the center of the restaurant, and can only fit a handful of stools. If you don't get a stool (they were full) you're standing in the middle of the traffic pattern... The PEI mussels were good, but they were a little small (the portion, not the size of the mussel). I ordered the pork and the meat literally fell off the bone, and tasted excellent. My wife really enjoyed the mushroom risotto, and had enough to take home. For dessert we ordered the Pumpkin Whoopee Pie, with maple filling. The filling was really good, but the pumpkin was really dense and kind of dry. Overall a great experience! Glad Scituate has a wider variety of decent places to choose from. read more

The drinks menu is extensive and our server was well prepared to answer our questions. Easily the best or second best dining option in all of the south shore. Inspired and elegantly prepared time and again. Went here for brunch it was ok. The atmosphere was nice, but the prices don't align with the quality of food. Eggs were tasteless and potatoes were undercooked. Everything went very quick, which was good having my kids with me. However I don't recommend it. Brunch shouldn't be $50 for the quality of food we got. read more
