Restaurant Les Armures is a historic (I heard oldest restaurant) in the middle of Geneva's Old Town (Vieille Ville). If you're a tourist it is just steps from Saint-Pierre Cathedral. Renowned for serving authentic traditional Swiss cuisine there are hearty dishes on the menu .I found the quality lived up to its reputation for the cheese fondue which was Gruyère and Vacherin cheeses with some kind of wine. Pair it with l the onion soup. Both were delicious. I recommend visiting one of the best in Geneva. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic and service was good.

Les Armures - Geneva This restaurant is no stranger to famous people; Bill Murray Paul McCartney - (10/09/00) George Clooney - (03/09/08) Bill Clinton - (15/01/94) I haven't eaten anything all day. I was walking around and stumbled by accident across Restaurant Les Armures. This restaurant welcomes everyone with open arms and staff is more than willing to help you navigate through their Swiss Menu. I walked in around, 17:30 (5:30pm), during their busy time and I asked if they had any open tables available for one person. The manager was so kind and graciously let me dine here. He did say, "As long as you can dine in an hour and a half, you should be fine. We do have reservations set past 19:00 (7:30pm)." I accepted his offer, "I appreciate it, I don't need but an hour." The atmosphere is very historic, dating back to 17th century. Here you will enjoy exquisite dishes and wonderful Swiss hospitality. The staff is more than happy give you great recommendations and help translate menu. They offer great choices on their menu. I wanted something completely local. I settled on, "Féra fumée du Léman" - Smoked Geneva Lake White Fish. My waiter also recommended something on the sweet side for dessert, " Mousse au chocolat suisse et Ovomaltine." - Swiss Chocolate Mousse with Ovomaltine. Every dish was delicious and worth the price. Next time you're visiting Geneva, stop by here and enjoy great hospitality and cuisine.

While this was a Geneva bucket list item, I don't know that I would return. We were sat for dinner outside, and their seating is quite crammed and on a slope to the point that our table was slightly tilted. Our server was generally attentive, however it took easily over an hour from the point of being seated to having our food arrive. The fondue was excellent however, and I'd recommend the choices we made of one traditional Vacherin/Gruyere fondue and one tomato based with the addition of sausage on the side. We felt that 2 fondues were definitely sufficient for a party of 3.

I was told this is the best fondue in Geneva for a traditional Swiss meal. The service is superb. The place is traditional and cute and part of the hotel. There is nice outdoor seating in a quiet street (no cars). I enjoyed the regular fondue with bread and potatoes. It was nice.

Highly recommend you make reservations in advance. It's a very beautiful establishment and food is pricey as expected but delicious. I took one star off because our service wasn't that great and each dish took forever to come out. It was just me and my fiancé for dinner and from us getting seated to getting the check it was about 2 hours. We ordered the Swiss onion soup to share and they were nice enough to split it into separate bowls. My fiance had the perch fillets and I had the steak. Food was cooked to perfection. We ended the night with their crème brûlée which was chefs kiss. I really enjoyed the food here and I would definitely come back.

Great location. Services is good. But this restaurant smells awful. It is hard to enjoy good food with such foul smell lingering.

All around, it was our best meal in Geneva. Romantic atmosphere. Top notch service. Perch was excellent. Rich but great flavor. Pork chop was a bit fatty but was very tasty.

This is a Geneva staple for both fondue and perch filets. If you're with the locals and they ask you where you ate dinner and you just say "Armures" they know where you're talking about. The raclette is generally eaten in the fall and winter but I couldn't resist having some when I was there in June. I definitely got some looks from the other tables but whatever. The perch (filets de perche) is mind blowing too and shouldn't be passed up. I know...that means two trips but that's okay. Service is typical Geneva which is to say paced for enjoying the company of the people at your table.

Highly recommend! Great service, very interesting and historical atmosphere, and great food options. I got the cheese fondue of course. It felt a little weird eating just cheese, bread, and potatoes for dinner. I would recommend ordering a meat fondue and a cheese fondue and share!

First time trying cheese fondue. Highly recommend along with the breaded veal and pork chop. Make reservations in advance as it gets busy. Great service from the waiter.

This is a very nice restaurant with amazing cheese fondue and raclette. It's a little expensive but pretty reasonable for what you get and in a nice atmosphere! The raclette cheese is some of the best I've ever had. You get free bread which was also tasty and nice to use for the fondue and raclette. The waiter was very attentive, friendly, and funny. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff brought out a fun candle with three dessert we ordered. The crème brûlée is very delicious. I'd recommend this for a nice dinner!

This is one of the few restaurants I have ever been to anywhere near a tourist area that is exceptional! Great atmosphere and location. Service is great. Tomato fondue and viande sechee are perfection.

I had a pork tomahawk which is very tender. An impressive wine menu and excellent service, what's not to like!

Geneva has tons of great spots for fondue, but on Sundays there are several that are not open - however, these guys are open 7 days a week! They even worked us in despite having a lot of reservations that evening. The fondue was excellent - there were lots of mushrooms throughout, and we also ordered a starter plate of smoked trout to share but I forgot to get a photo. It is recommended to have a glass of wine or beer with fondue as it aids in the digestion of the meal (we didn't know that until going to Switzerland!) and they have a couple NA options for those of us who don't consume alcohol. The beer was bright and hoppy, not bitter like an IPA - just light and refreshing, which I loved. The whole restaurant has Swiss culture pieces, decor, and even the workers dress in cute Swiss attire. For our last dinner there, it was a great spot and we left feeling totally happy! Prices were very fair for portion sizes also. Highly recommend.

I loved that I was able to see so many of my fellow Latinos enjoying life over here. Very cool. Onto the food, it was super good! I love fried perch and the fact that it was caught in the lake that is just a block away was also amazing. Fresh and tasty. The steak was also really good! You can't beat Swiss beef! And I'm from Texas, so trust me on that one. The salads are always so fresh and light. I will be back next time I'm in town. Gotta remember to wear a Mexico jersey again.

Order your food at the cashier and seat yourself in one of the two covered outdoor sections with benches, or take it out onto the grass if you so desire. The affordable item is always their "Plat du Jour"/ dish of the day, 15 CHF (~18 USD). During our visit, it was a wonderfully refreshing "Ceviche de Cabillaud"/ cod ceviche marinated in lemon. They also serve Fondue here at 27 CHF per person (if requested), though we made the mistake of ordering a portion for 2 people which was not necessary after ordering 1 plat du jour each. This was brought out for to us at a bench we eventually secured. The Gruyère cheese was quite rich and on the saltier end. The bread they supply you with was a bit too crusty. The expectation is for you to bus your plates near the kitchen window when you finish eating. The environment was quite lively on a Friday night, the younger generation out in full force in bathing suits, cooling off after a 90 Fahrenheit day, with some beats bumping from an on-site DJ. Authentic environment to intermingle with the locals and fumble your way through your non-existent French.

Geneva is super expensive. Finding a decent meal and a drink without spending a ton is pretty rare…read more We heard this place was a locals spot. You order your food and drinks at the counter. They have a surprisingly good menu with daily plates, sandwiches, desserts, and fondue. I watched a few plates come out of the kitchen and it all looked good. It's definitely a place where actual locals hang out. People just come out here to chill on the pier and look at the water. What we got: - Aperol Spritz (5/5): They offer these in two sizes. We got the large. We were just looking for an aperitivo and a good view. It hit the spot perfectly. Great vibes for relaxing in the sun.
