Lovely little place by Place du Bourg-de-Four. We tried the rosti, per the suggestion of other Yelpers. I had never had this dish before and was really surprised with how good it was. Basically, a potato and cheese hash brown (that's a touch greasy) served with a number of different main courses. More of a lunch place than dinner. Like most of Geneva, wildly expensive -- $25 for a simple dish. However, nothing is cheap here. Table service could use a bit softening -- you definitely get a bit of the Parisian attitude, regardless of how nice you try to be. Still, glad we tried it.

Rosti with ham, eggs, and gruyere (under the ham) so good!

Love it! It's a cute little place that's apparently been here since 1874. The rosti was super delicious on a cold, rainy day, and the wine was excellent. Glad I picked it! Seems to be a mix of tourists and locals and my waitress speaks English, though I did my best in French.

This place is a MUST and you must try the Rosti with ham, eggs, and gruyere (which is cheese) we learned this by just asking. Our server was very helpful and friendly. We came on a rainy day and had a cappuccino to go with it! Which was also creamy and amazing. We would definitely go back!!

Rotoni

Saw this place on a website for best things to do while in Geneva so we decided to try it. Like everything in Geneva it is very expensive. I got the Rotoni (I think that's how you spell it) based on everyone's else recommendation. And it was to die for. Absolutely incredible. My wife got the tagliatelle bolognese and it was eh okay. If you come here definitely get my dish with the ham and egg.

If you want that authentic Potato Rosti, check out Cafe Bourg de Four - found in the Old City. A very funky and unique interior and the staff are very friendly. Although the menu is in French the waiter happily translated the toppings for the rostis. These rostis were filling and delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft and velvety on the inside. I would highly recommend it!!

cafe au lait and 2 of the same: rosti with gruyere, ham, and eggs

Amazing lil terrace which was empty when we arrived (around noon) and totally full within the hour. Once you just submit to the the price of geneva, you'll have a much more pleasant experience! Also, god, rösti is just good. In essence it's just hash browns but for some reason it's so much better. You will definitely be full after a meal here. Waiter was super pleasant. Would definitely reccomend this place!

This place is typical of the French speaking region of Geneva inside, located in the Old Town section of town. It has all the typical genevois items on the menu however, I must say the rosti is the best I have ever tasted. ...potatoes shredded ever so finely and perfectly, fried up in butter to a crispy perfect brown edge, mixed with onion, creme and topped with cheese, ham and egg. It was the best hands down. I enjoyed every last bite. The atmosphere was cozy, casual and not too noisy. The waitress spoke English as well, and the beer was tasty. I enjoyed my meal here and will add this restaurant to my Old Town tour when I get visitors.

Loved everything about it. The berries with cream were the perfect dessert. Great service too.

While visiting my company's office in Geneva, the manager selected this place for a team dinner…read more Since he's from Lyon originally, he wanted to share that the place was having a special "game week" menu featuring traditional foods from the area. Since I'm always "game" for a new experience, I was happy to participate! I was a little nervous because when we arrived they had just opened and there was nobody there. However, I soon relaxed and felt right at home, because service was very friendly and encouraging, but with no pressure to try the game menu. I decided to be a little bold and went for the venison medallions. I even tried some of my colleague's wild boar pate, which was good. I started with a pumpkin chestnut soup which I really enjoyed. My venison was lovely as were the accompanying sides. There was a wide variety of side dishes in small portions and I appreciated that. I paired everything with a nice local beer and it was a very nice experience. The dessert menu is extensive and I went with an old standby, a chocolate mousse. It was absolutely incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious, service was outstanding and I could understand that by the time we left, there wasn't an empty seat in the place. Definitely recommend the experience here. It's more than just the food!

My fiancee and I were looking for places to eat that were not crazy expensive. Switzerland, as…read moremost of you know, is one of the most expensive countries in Europe, if not the most expensive. I was not too hungry, but he was super hungry. I looked up a few places and this place popped up. It was within walking distance of our hotel so we gave it a shot. We walked in and the guy asked if we had a reservation, to which we said no. I thought he would say he was out of room, but he offered us the communal table. There was another middle-aged couple sitting at the end. They kept looking over at us; it was a little creepy. The menu was all in French. And since neither of us can speak, let alone read French, we used Google translate to figure out what some of the words were. The server was able to explain to us what everything was and we were able to place our order. My fiancee got a meal-sized salad. And it was really big. We both thought it was going to be small, but he said it was filling, and probably the best Cesar salad he ever had. I ordered the small beef tartare, which is 180grams. I also expected it to be small. But I was so wrong. It's the size of a hockey puck and a little thicker than one, and it comes with a side of roasted potatoes, a small salad, and bread to spread the tartare on. By the end of meal, I was so stuffed. I am really glad we found this place.

So good. Large plates and great taste. For paying, go up to the counter after your meal.read more
