We were a bit concerned, based on the reviews, that Edelweiss might be overly touristy. It was not. There were tourists but local patrons as well. We did not think the decor was gaudy. Themed, yes, but tastefully done. Do be cautious about ordering the fondue. The prices are per person and you get a ton. So, unless you can really put it away, one order is plenty for a couple to share. We ordered the very tasty cordon bleu for our second plat and had leftovers. Service was friendly but not very attentive, especially when it came to bringing the bill. Seems to be a theme Europe wide. read more

We had the best time here as the live performer was an absolute hoot! The room was clapping and laughing and the vibes were killer. We ordered fondue, which was pretty standard and didn't disappoint. It wasn't anything crazy, just what you'd expect and there is something to be said for consistent comfort food. Wine selection was ok, not spectacular. We made a reservation, which I recommend. Definitely would send a friend or family for the experience, but not for a top food meal in Geneva. read more

Fun place with good Swiss food. We passed on the fondue (everyone else seemed to have it and enjoyed it) and had the chicken Cordon Bleu and the Veal Zurich style. It was very good. We also had the Apple strudel which was equally very good. There was traditional Swiss music played by a person playing the accordion and a very long Alpine Horn with some yodeling making it a fun time. A bit touristy but, we were touring and everyone there had a wonderful time. It is loud so if a lot of noise is bothersome consider sitting on the upper floor. Nothing to pick on here- I have had excellent Swiss food and this is just a tad short of that to set expectations. Definitely go. read more

Restaurant had a very touristy feel to it, but I still loved it. This was our first proper dinner in Switzerland and it's how I imagined Switzerland to be like. The interior decor was spot on and gave off a vibe like we were sitting in a courtyard surrounded by different buildings. There was live music playing folk songs with classical Swiss instruments, which really added to be experience. We ordered the beef fondue and ribeye. The beef fondue comes with some hot oil that you fry the beef in for a minute to cook. Also frying the fries makes it taste delicious. The garlic aioli and tomato sauce were my favorite with the fries. Be careful when you try to eat right after frying, the food and metal skewer are piping hot. Seems pretty obvious, but I burned myself a few times before I learned my lesson. The ribeye came medium rare and flavored with some butter and herbs. The mashed potatoes were also good. I'd probably rate the food alone to be 3 stars, but with the live music and interior decor it was certainly a 4 star experience. read more

Dear god I don't know what to make of this. I'm so torn between a 2 star and 4 star rating. It's comically touristy. Like, rows and rows of tour groups all eating the same meal fresh off a bus. All taking photos on iPads. And hokey, yet very good, music. And an atmosphere that felt a lot like a lower budget Epcot. I wouldn't classify this as a romantic or classy meal; it's a funny meal. I'd be shocked if locals ate here. (2 stars) The food was good, but very expensive, even by Geneva standards. They make you order one fondue per person, which was way too much for us, or you have to pay a $15 penalty. A benefit is that hotel guests can save 15%. The fondue Edelweiss was great. The other cheese fondue we got was more rich and a bit too much for our palates. One or two dips in that rich one was okay, but not a whole pot. The meat and cheese appetizer was excellent. The steak fondue was great (excellent cuts of meat and tender) and it helped break up the monotony of cheese, although I wasn't wow'd by the four sauces they give for the steak. Best experience with a restaurant in Switzerland! The atmosphere is like something out of Disney's Epcot with plenty of classic Swiss decor and a live Jazz band. The service is quick and very helpful, all English-speaking. The restaurant has a few set menus that include a starter, entree, and dessert. Great prices for the quality of food and entertainment. I got the cheese raclette and beef fondue. The apple strudel was nothing extraordinary, but everything else was still very good. Excellent place for a fun group dinner! read more

This restaurant is like the Matterhorn bobsleds ride at Disneyland except even more Swiss themed. First thing you see is a giant sized stuffed St. Bernard doll with the iconic Swiss hot cocoa barrel around its neck. Then you're hit with the smooth sounds of live music being played by a groovy accordion player and his backup vocalist/guitar player. It really goes over the top when they bring out the alphorn and let tourists give it a try. It wouldn't be complete if the live performances didn't include singing "edelweiss" and they definitely deliver a memorable rendition. You'll also get copious amounts of yodeling to make sure you get the full egregiously touristic Swiss experience. The food itself is overpriced and that's the case nearly all over Switzerland but the food is not bad it's just average is all. The various fondues (of which we had the beef and payanne) were too fragrant for our tastes with a heavy alcohol aftertaste. Ranging from 30-50 francs. The fries are good as was the veggie fondue. The creme brûlée dessert was pretty good too. Don't forget if you're staying at hotel Kipling or any of the Manotel chained hotels that you get 15%off here. Overall it's a super touristy experience but at least you can say you went for it and did the whole fondue thing. Tip: if someone in your party doesn't buy a main course then it's an additional 15 franc charge. read more

Ok well I feel like this is a tourist trap here ... it's traditional Swiss food in a Swiss chalet type decor. They have two men playing accordions for entertainment. We ordered the cheese fondue because well we had to..with potatoes and bread cubes. I guess I am just not a fan of the cheese they use so I did not love it. My friend ordered the filet $45 and it was topped with foie Gras and a brown sauce and served with assorted vegetables. The steak was perfectly cooked and the Vegetables were good as well. After dinner the waitress brought the check and stood over us as we paid. I didn't like that- she mentioned that tips are not included... hmmm awkward to be forced to tip this way. Anyway I would say that overall it's not my first pick if we return to the area again. read more

Our first night into Switzerland we were cold, hungry and wanted to try some traditional fondue. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations with such a hefty price. The restaurant is very cozy and a tad bit touristy due to its decked out Swiss decorations with St.Bernard stuffed animals to a traditional Swiss style set up. We ordered a veggie fondue, meat fondue, cheese fondue, and a regular fish dish. Everyone is forced to order their $30-$50 main dishes otherwise you will be charged an additional 15 francs. The meat fondue was done differently where they serve a platter of raw meat and you literally cook it in a pot of hot oil. Something different and new, the meat was OK. You have to cook it quick before your cook it to brunt crisps! The cheese fondue had a very strong alcohol taste to it so we couldn't even finish it. The vegetable fondue, you cook it in a pot of tasty broth. The highlights were probably the onion soup and the creme brûlée. 2 stars for the food, bumped it up to 3 because of their great live music available. It brought some life into the restaurant. Overall, a very expensive meal for below average food. read more

My husband and I stumbled on this restaurant and we were intrigued with the amazing food especially the cheese fondue. The hosts were extremely helpful with popular choices and pairing of the wines. Moreover the live music gives this place more of an authentic touch. However the downfall of this restaurant was that we were forced to order more food than we needed. We wanted to share a portion but were instructed that one portion is for one person and if two portions were not ordered then a surcharge of 15 CHF was to be placed. My recommendation is if you are going as a couple then go on an empty stomach, really good cheese fondues especially the champagne fondue if you like stronger cheeses. read more
