Decided to eat here on our last night in Geneva. They were able to seat us even though we didn't have a reservation which was nice. Most of the staff was Hispanic so that was fun. They were very friendly and attentive. The place has a cozy Swiss chalet feel. We ordered local wine and beer. The steak frite was delicious. The perch meunière was so good with tartar sauce. Had a late dinner here with my wife and two children. Loved the rustic decor and cozy ambiance. Service was perfect and they spoke english. I feel like getting fondue is a must when visiting Switzerland, but it's definitely not something you can eat a lot of. I highly recommend booking a reservation ahead of time since it's a cozy restaurant, and the service is great. We ordered the raclette and the half and half cheese fondue. Keep in mind that there is a minimum per person order requirement for each. The raclette comes with dry meats, potatoes, pickles, and onions, which were pretty good. The cheese fondue just comes with bread, and while it was good, it's definitely really heavy. I don't think I could eat it more than once. Just note that they charge for everything: even tap water is 2 CHF per person. Not sure if this spot is a tourist trap, but the prices certainly reflect that. read more

Outstanding Swiss restaurant. Highly recommend you make a reservation, the dining area is not overly large. A large mirror keeps the space from feeling too small. If the day is nice, outdoor seating is available. Auberge de Saviese has been there for years and is not in the center of the tourist/shopping areas of Geneva but well worth the stroll to get there. Many hotels are nearby, so you may be closer than you think or can come after arriving at the train station. Friendly staff, many are multilingual and an english menu is available. Many of the fondues have a minimum order size of 2, so come as a group. If you are alone, you will probably be asked to share a table. The house recommendations are the most traditional disshes and very good. The house white wine is very nice. We had the house blended fondue and a half order of the dried meat appetizer and the 50/50 house fondue, both were excellent. Many locals add boiled potatoes to their meal and I have found I like it as well. (The potatoes make great dippers along with the bread.) If you want a traditional Swiss meal come here. read more

When in Switzerland, do as the Swiss do. If you're an American, you are no stranger to melted cheese. Typically, it's called "queso" and is drizzled on any food item of your choosing. In Switzerland, it's called fondue and it's typically mixed with white wine and served with stale bread. For Fondue for Two, it's typically priced around 30 CHF, which is equivalent to $33 USD. In addition to the fondue, I also ordered the Beef Carpaccio, which came with an order of fries. If you are with a group, I would not suggest fondue as a full meal, but rather it should be a stop along your dinner destination. Unfortunately, if you are a party of one, you will have to order the Fondue for Two, as they do not offer single servings. Please take my review with a grain of salt: I'm not a cheese person but I've always wanted to try fondue, and since I was in Switzerland, I might as well. I thought the gruyere fondue was okay! I wanted something lighter on the side to balance the richness of the fondue and my charcuterie side, so I ordered a bowl of vegetable soup. It seemed it was only seasoned very lightly. I wish it had more dimensional flavor and seasoning, but it tasted fresh so overall it was fine. The vegetables were cut very evenly and cooked well -- not bad at all, just a little boring. Their service is great though! Since this was my first time trying fondue, my server taught me how to eat it properly and how everything worked. The decor is very, very cute and rustic. I finally found Swiss Fondue! It was delicious, warm, authentic and so comforting after a long day of travel! Called for reservations but had to adjust time due to travel, it the maitre'd, so kind and worked with me! Walked from our hotel, he greeted us like long lost friends and had us seated on a busy night in no time! The service was wonderful and the food even better! I won't forget this place or the first impression of Geneva! I want to go back for more! Loved the ambiance! Best cheese fondue ever!! Definitely make reservations as this place gets busy. We came here on January 2, a Sunday night. Upon entry, there's the friendliest older gentlemen that greets you. We tried the cheese fondue (the version without alochol) under their classics selection. The fondue was so good, that we could not find one that compares when we went to Paris afterwards. They have beers on draft that actually goes very well with melted cheese. This restaurant is worth every dollar and made our experience in Geneva very memorable. We wanted authentic Swiss food, and auberge was perfect.  And the perch is a popular in the area!  We really enjoyed this meal. Service Friendly. I have made fondue at home every year for New Years or various holidays. When we went to Switzerland, I had to immerse myself into the birthplace of fondue. The place is so quaint and our server was so friendly. We ordered 4 person order of cheese fondue with a side of grapes and apple, since bread alone wasn't going to cut it for the hungry crew. Wow! That was a lot of cheese in the pot. They are not skimpy with the cheese. The restaurant had excellent beers and my husband enjoyed a non-alcoholic beer since he was our designated driver. I think it is awesome when restaurants serve n/a beer so those who don't or can't drink can enjoy in festivities. While visiting Geneva, we knew we had to try fondue somewhere! This place is within walking distance to Lake Geneva and got good reviews for having authentic fondue. We had a total of 6 people, 5 adults and 1 child. We ordered the special valais IGP plate, the tomato house cheese fondue which came with boiled potatoes and the house cheese fondue which came with a basket of bread. Both fondues were very tasty, super cheesy, and big size portions. The service was great as she thoroughly explained how everything worked, and the correct way to eat fondue! My only complaint would be I wish they served some vegetables with it! Everything was so rich and heavy, we needed something to lighten it up a little. The fondue was a bit pricey, but you can tell they are using high quality cheese. A great location to try authentic Swiss (especially Valaisan) food with a friendly staff and a nice location. We visited that spot with a friend who was visiting Switzerland for the first time and wanted to try authentic local cuisine. Which is a tad difficult in the center of Geneva, given the amount of tourist trap. Fortunately for us, the Auberge de Saviese was just the right spot for us. First of all, the staff was super friendly and careful in figuring our food limitations, which given the fact that my friend doesn't do alcohol wasn't the easiest for Swiss cuisine. Fortunately, they had an authentic, but hard to prepare and even-harder-to-find fondue style - water-based vacherin. Yes, water, not wine. And no, it's not a gimmick - from what I've heard from my Swiss colleagues it is the more authentic version, but much harder to make due to the water-fat separation not being helped by the alcohol dissolving both. And not only it was authentic, it was positively delicious with the bread. On top of that, we were also able to try Malakoff (despite the name - a Valaisan specialty, and a delicious at that), as well as great raclette with potatoes. Finally, we concluded with a meringue double-creme (duh), which was absolutely delicious and went well with teas we were advised. And finally, everything was provided for a price that is reasonable, given the location and the quality of the food. Overall, it's an awesome place and I am looking forwards to returning here if I need to give someone an expedite tour of Swiss gastronomy in Geneva again. read more

This place was suggested to us by our concierge at Hotel d'Allèves. It wasn't so busy, as you can see on pics. Our server was very nice, not pushy at all. We weren't too hungry but wanted to do fondue. However, if you look at menu, price of fondues are per person, with a minimum of two persons. It was too much for us. We had spent over 100€ on lunch earlier. We decided on Mont-Blanc Salad, which had Raclette croutons, 'Raclette Menu,' which came with small boiled potatoes and all kinds of cured meats, and a Rösti Royal. My favorite was the Rösti. It's basically a hyped hash browns. So good. The only good thing about the salad was the Raclette croutons. Also, according to menu, 'Any meal ordered without drinks will be increased of 2.-CHF p.p.' I'm giving them 3 stars because of strange pricing structure and also for asking for a tip on the bill when we were told that tips are included on bill by our concierge. read more

Went here for dinner one night in Geneva. Found it be very packed inside the restaurant - glad we made a reservation. The service the whole time was great! Our server was nice and very attentive. We felt the food items were a bit overpriced, especially with the fondue being priced per person and needing to have a minimum of two people to participate. We both started with mixed green salads, which was just lettuce drenched in dressing for too much money. I don't recommend. Next we had one of their cheese fondues - the Wallis Beer Cheese - and thought this was very good. This only came with bread, so we ordered a side of small potatoes to accompany it. Where we went before in Switzerland for fondue, it came with bread, potatoes and other things, so that was a bit disappointing. Next, we had the grilled veal sausage with French fries and vegetables and thought this dish was very good. Had we not had the potatoes with our fondue, we probably would have actually eaten the French fries. I found their drink menu to be actually very fairly priced in comparison to others I've seen in Geneva. I got two glasses of wine, each for under 5 CF each. It was a classic Swiss restaurant - popular, and a bit overpriced. Definitely make a reservation if you're going on the weekend. They seem to cater to tourists as they had English menus ready and also everyone there spoke English. read more

We had the beer cheese fondue plus an order of the Special Valois meats. Note that a cheese fondue only comes with bread so I recommend ordering a side of something. I was invited my colleagues after work. We had great fun as the servers help us selecting wine and taking pictures of the team. Food We elected a lot of dishes to share. Sort of a Swiss tapa style. The server helped us select the best wine for the occasion, a beautiful Shiraz. The food was just prefect and I was really impressed with the wine list. Service The service was just perfect ver were 6 and had 2 servers taking care of us making sure we were having a good time. Ambiance We sat inside (maybe next time we should try outside for a change ) the room was nice and cozy. We were really loud and happy. Full disclaimer: I am not a cheese person. I rarely eat cheese and I don't like (or eat) cheese with a lot of my dishes, except for pizza, ravioli, and with sausage and bread. SO, as a non-cheese person, I thought the house cheese fondue was all right. Definitely too cheesy for me still. It was quite salty too, but that wasn't a turn-off for me. My friend who loves cheese really likes the fondue though, so if you enjoy cheese a lot, you should probably trust her word on this. The bread was all right -- they weren't as soft and absorbent as I hoped but rather just bland, hard-crust bread. Is it worth it for a non-cheese-lover to try the famous Swiss cheese fondues? In my opinion, no. Chocolates? Absolutely yes! For both chocolate and non-chocolate lovers alike. read more
