    Fondue

I feel like getting fondue is a must when visiting Switzerland, but it's definitely not something you can eat a lot of. I highly recommend booking a reservation ahead of time since it's a cozy restaurant, and the service is great. We ordered the raclette and the half and half cheese fondue. Keep in mind that there is a minimum per person order requirement for each. The raclette comes with dry meats, potatoes, pickles, and onions, which were pretty good. The cheese fondue just comes with bread, and while it was good, it's definitely really heavy. I don't think I could eat it more than once. Just note that they charge for everything: even tap water is 2 CHF per person. Not sure if this spot is a tourist trap, but the prices certainly reflect that.

Fondue moitie-moitie - traditional cheese fondue, house version

Outstanding Swiss restaurant. Highly recommend you make a reservation, the dining area is not overly large. A large mirror keeps the space from feeling too small. If the day is nice, outdoor seating is available. Auberge de Saviese has been there for years and is not in the center of the tourist/shopping areas of Geneva but well worth the stroll to get there. Many hotels are nearby, so you may be closer than you think or can come after arriving at the train station. Friendly staff, many are multilingual and an english menu is available. Many of the fondues have a minimum order size of 2, so come as a group. If you are alone, you will probably be asked to share a table. The house recommendations are the most traditional disshes and very good. The house white wine is very nice. We had the house blended fondue and a half order of the dried meat appetizer and the 50/50 house fondue, both were excellent. Many locals add boiled potatoes to their meal and I have found I like it as well. (The potatoes make great dippers along with the bread.) If you want a traditional Swiss meal come here.

When in Switzerland, do as the Swiss do. If you're an American, you are no stranger to melted cheese. Typically, it's called "queso" and is drizzled on any food item of your choosing. In Switzerland, it's called fondue and it's typically mixed with white wine and served with stale bread. For Fondue for Two, it's typically priced around 30 CHF, which is equivalent to $33 USD. In addition to the fondue, I also ordered the Beef Carpaccio, which came with an order of fries. If you are with a group, I would not suggest fondue as a full meal, but rather it should be a stop along your dinner destination. Unfortunately, if you are a party of one, you will have to order the Fondue for Two, as they do not offer single servings. Overall, the carpaccio and fondue were nothing I'd try again-- nonpivotal.

Vegetable soup! A lil bland but okay

Please take my review with a grain of salt: I'm not a cheese person but I've always wanted to try fondue, and since I was in Switzerland, I might as well. I thought the gruyere fondue was okay! Because I am not a cheese person to begin with, the fondue met my expectations; didn't exceed or fall below, it was okay and satisfying. The cheese was definitely aromatic and rich -- maybe if my palate was a little different, I would have enjoyed it more! The fondue is definitely not bad, and from other reviews, seems very good, so I would still recommend this restaurant to others who like fondue! :) My three star rating is primarily for their vegetable soup! I wanted something lighter on the side to balance the richness of the fondue and my charcuterie side, so I ordered a bowl of vegetable soup. It seemed it was only seasoned very lightly. I wish it had more dimensional flavor and seasoning, but it tasted fresh so overall it was fine. The vegetables were cut very evenly and cooked well -- not bad at all, just a little boring. Their service is great though! Since this was my first time trying fondue, my server taught me how to eat it properly and how everything worked. The decor is very, very cute and rustic. Overall, I would recommend others to give this place a try! My experience was enjoyable and I had no problems with my meal.

Rosti and a beer! Life is good!

Forget the Fondu, go for the Rost! Excellent rosti, and it pairs well with a beer on a hot afternoon.

Worked us in at an outdoor cafe table despite us not having a reservation. Meal was fabulous from start to finish and excellent service to boot! Owner or manager checked in on us which was a welcome treat.

Best cheese fondue ever!! Definitely make reservations as this place gets busy. We came here on January 2, a Sunday night. Upon entry, there's the friendliest older gentlemen that greets you. We tried the cheese fondue (the version without alochol) under their classics selection. The fondue was so good, that we could not find one that compares when we went to Paris afterwards. They have beers on draft that actually goes very well with melted cheese. This restaurant is worth every dollar and made our experience in Geneva very memorable. The only improvement would be if they added some light music playing in the background.

Warm and tight atmosphere. Service was decent. It was very packed for dinner. We tried the mushroom fondue. It was fairly salty but tasty. The sliced veal had an extremely flavorful sauce that I enjoyed a lot. My first fondue experience. Some areas for improvement but overall I liked it a lot.

Enjoyed this restaurant so much! We were in Geneva one night and found this hidden gem. We wanted authentic Swiss food, and auberge was perfect.  And the perch is a popular in the area!  We really enjoyed this meal. Service Friendly. So friendly!  Our waiter was an older man who served  the whole restaurant but he was so nice and warm. Helpful. Showed us how to eat and talked us what we should order. Good suggestion. He suggested we share the fondue for 1 bc it's big and filling.  Food We got 2 dishes to split. Fondue half and half (half grueyere and half house) with potatoes, bread, and fruit.  The cheese was super aromatic and rich in flavor. We didn't need to get the fruit, although it was good. It was too my h food for us (2 women).  Waiter suggested getting 1fondue and a meat dish.  The perch filet and fries dish was so delicious!  The tartar sauce had such good flavor! Ambiance We sat outside and people watched. We were here in July, and it's cool and breezy during dinner time. Quiet overall, but the busy-ness of the area was amusing. Highly recommend :)

Ok we had fun. Actually stumbled upon this a bit early for the reserved crowd at 7:30. It was full by then! Kind of a great opportunity for Americans here for authentic food. Food is great. Crowd largely tourists. But the food is great.

Cheese fondue for four. Cheese lovers galore.

I have made fondue at home every year for New Years or various holidays. When we went to Switzerland, I had to immerse myself into the birthplace of fondue. The place is so quaint and our server was so friendly. We ordered 4 person order of cheese fondue with a side of grapes and apple, since bread alone wasn't going to cut it for the hungry crew. Wow! That was a lot of cheese in the pot. They are not skimpy with the cheese. The restaurant had excellent beers and my husband enjoyed a non-alcoholic beer since he was our designated driver. I think it is awesome when restaurants serve n/a beer so those who don't or can't drink can enjoy in festivities. We had a great meal, one thing I would suggest is to order extra sides to go with the cheese.

I enjoyed my fondue champagne very much but the flan would have been perfect with a bit more sugar when it was carmelized.

Merveilleux! Magnifique! And I don't even speak French!…read more We were directed to this café by a tour guide and through online recommendations. It was one of very few eating establishments near our hotel, so given its popularity and being aware of the need to have reservations for dinner, we decided to try a mid-day lunch. There was nobody eating indoors, so we selected an outside table. The area is mostly shady and has a nice feel, but tables are rather closely spaced, and if you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, you might not enjoy this. The menu has many classical Swiss dishes, and the place is best known for its outstanding fondue. We ordered this to share. A carafe of water, our wine, and a basket of not-so-fresh crusty bread (uncubed) came first. Then the fondue (in a cast iron pot), my gazpacho, and my husband's salad arrived. The waiter offered a half portion of salad, which was perfect. My gazpacho was slightly textured, had hints of garlic, onion, and peppers, and came with mini-croutons. It was perfect on that hot afternoon. But the star of our lunch was the amazing fondue, which was thick and flavorful. We did have to cut up the bread for dipping, and it certainly could have been fresher. There were lots of sparrows trying to get their share of it. All in all, this was a great afternoon meal at a reasonable cost (for Switzerland, anyhow). We'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Do you like cheese? Then this is your place. We made a reservation and we're glad we did because…read morethe place was packed and they were turning people away later in the evening. Since the place is known for fondue, we had to get that and it was really good. I could have just eaten that and been fine but I didn't know that ahead of time and ordered some ravioli, which was very good too. Service was fairly friendly and the food was great, so I give it two thumbs up. I will say the seating is a little tight but they're trying to give as many people as possible the opportunity to eat here so I get it.
