Restaurant Depot in South Plainfield New Jersey should be the best store on earth but it's not. They have a large store with private parking and some even under cover. They provide U-boat style narrow carts to help you negotiate the isles in their warehouse setting. They cater to restaurants and charities more than other big box stores. They masquerade as a wholesaler but their prices aren't that great and they require a free membership or guest pass to shop there. The good is that they have massive quantities of food and almost every imaginable item needed for food service including advertising, management, storage and cleaning. They have recently opened an express lane at check out which is helpful. The bad list is longer. You need to dodge forklifts which are moving pallets of goods every minute that the depot is open. Most shoppers are running a kitchen and are in a hurry and rude. My biggest peeve is you can never find anything they advertise in their monthly flyer. Even if they have it in stock it isn't separated or marked with a special tag. You must check the SKU numbers of the item on the shelf to the item in the flyer or you're screwed. I went on Feb 1st with the intention of buying Tri tip roasts which are scarce in my region and some shrimp, both on sale in the Feb flyer. The worker in the meat department checked for me and could not find any tri tips. I spoke to the woman at the desk and she said 70 lbs are due in on 2/7. Why the hell would you advertise a two week special on an item and allow it to show up a week late? When it came to the shrimp I could only find a full case of the sale shrimp in the freezer. I asked the young lady in the fish department if I could break the case. She pointed to a bag and said these are the sale ones. I got to the front end and they rang up $1.50 higher. Thanks for the help, dumb ass. People who shop at Restaurant Depot are trying to resell at profit or are trying to run their non-profit on a budget. Price matters, time matters and with all the frustrations I can do just as well at Costco, Sams or BJs. Save yourself frustration and shop elsewhere.

I received an order confirmation in the email. I figured that it probably was not available in my local branch, so I waited. After two weeks, on a Thursday morning, I called the branch and spoke to a customer service rep. First she says we don't have that. I reply "why would the website accept my order and send a confirmation if you didn't have it?" Then she says we tried to contact you but I told her that there is no email or voicemail or evidence that they did. Then she says they have smaller ones 3 ft x 8 ft but I tell her it will take twice as many of those to yield the finished size my customer needs. The last thing she tells me is she will have purchasing try to get some. I hear nothing from them for the rest of the day and all day Friday. On Monday morning I called just to find out that that useless bitch never got anything ordered. Another sales rep looked into what hadn't been done and got it ordered right away. About a week later the sheets finally arrived. This is not the first time that Johnstone Supply customer service has left me hanging. Recently I was looking for a $9000.00 milling machine for a customer and they didn't respond to my inquiry. Be aware of who you work with. The customer service need some improvement.

The technician at the desk was extremely unprofessional in appearance--wearing a stained sweatshirt and headphones covering her ears, which she did not remove while speaking to me. That alone made communication difficult and uncomfortable. I was initially told that my phone screen repair was covered under warranty and would be free. I specifically asked that if there were any costs at all, I be called before the repair was completed. I was very clear about this. The technician then asked me to unlock my phone. I questioned why that was necessary just to replace a screen and explained that I was uncomfortable because my phone contains a lot of personal and sensitive information. I asked if there was a "safe mode" or any way to protect my data. I was told, "That's just how it is," and reassured they don't go through phones. Reluctantly, I left it. Six hours later, I returned and was told the repair would cost $200 because the technician had been "wrong" about the warranty. I asked why I was never called as requested, and the response was that she was "busy." I was also told the old screen could be put back on, but I would need to return again in three more hours--I live 40 minutes away. At that point, I decided to just pay the $200. That's when I noticed all of my apps were missing when i openedthe phone. I was told my phone was in "maintenance mode." This was never mentioned earlier, and it directly contradicted what I was told when I asked about a safety mode to protect my data. If maintenance mode existed, why wasn't it used when I specifically raised privacy concerns? Now I'm left having to change all of my passwords and secure my accounts because I no longer feel confident that my personal information was protected. Between the misinformation, lack of communication, unprofessional behavior, and serious privacy concerns, this experience was unacceptable.
