Another home run meal from 101. The Asian Salad is the best salad on the menu for my money. 5 Oz of steak with mandarin oranges, lettuce, cukes, tomatoes. With a delicious sweetish sesame dressing. 10/10. Youngest daughter got a buffalo chicken wrap with chips on the side. Excellent. 10/10. The service was wonderful. We brought our dog Abby with us for outside seating. 101 is very accommodating for dogs outside. My wife picked this one while we were in the area attending a Realtor open house. Great location in downtown Mocksville, and although parking in front of the restaurant was very limited and full, there was plenty of free parking in the City's public parking across the street behind the restaurant. There's a choice of both outside patio and inside dining room seating. It was a nice day for sitting outside, but I wanted to experience more of the restaurant's interior vibe. The place definitely has that vibrant pub feel with your choice of high or standard table seating. We were promptly greeted upon entering and shown to our table (we went with a 2-seat high top). The menu had a great selection with everything from salads, sandwiches, burgers to full entrees. Being lunch time, and not feeling really hungry, I went with a simple beef quesadilla. Our food was brought out in a timely manner, and it was a good portion for the price. Our server was very attentive during our entire stay. While we're not out this way often, I'd definitely like to stop in again and give one of their larger entrees a try. read more

We stopped in while traveling through Mocksville this afternoon. We had been on Main Street over the summer and noticed the restaurant and bookmarked it at that time. Today we were headed to Concord and decided to stop in. We arrived about noon and were able to find street parking with no problem. This portion of town is historic and very charming. The restaurant is no exception, the brick exterior looks to be well maintained and cared for. We stepped inside and were immediately impressed. On the left is a full bar with counter seating, to the right is the restaurant area. We checked in with a hostess and were immediately seated and provided menus. Our server, Megan stopped in and took our drink orders. We also inquired about the menu and she told us her favorites along with the most popular offerings. The menu was larger than we expected and features appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches/wraps, burgers and more. My wife ordered the salmon entree with extra grilled veggies instead of rice and a side salad. I chose the chicken parmesan with fried chicken and a side salad. Our salads arrived quickly and looked better than the average side salad. We both enjoyed and our entrees arrived quickly. Megan was very friendly and attentive and kept checking on us. My wife really enjoyed her meal and I liked chicken parmesan, I just didn't love the chunkiness of the sauce. The building is very cool both inside and out. There is a spiral staircase in the dining area leading up to the second floor. We love the exposed brick and wood floors. We asked our server about the history and she said it was a furniture store at one point and currently has apartments upstairs. My wife reported the restroom was very clean and well maintained. We also noted their health score, we believe from memory it was 98.5. A great stop and we would absolutely recommend to others. There is a small antique store next door and a coffee shop across the street as well. read more

Stopped in here to have lunch with my sister and her family during a soccer tournament break. We arrived around 12 pm and with a total of 13 people in our party were seated within 15 mins. They seated us in a large room in the back. The only con of the visit was the room was extremely cool (63 degrees). We asked about the fire place but the young gentleman didn't really know how to start it. I ordered the crab cake with a side salad. It was delicious. The crab ratio was pretty good too. My hubs ordered the Philly cheesesteak sub with chips and he said it was a very good sub. Everyone at the table said their food was good and our server Brianna was so pleasant and did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. For 6 people the bill was $90.69 not including tip. With the large party they added an automatic gratuity. The area around the restaurant is so cute with a coffee shop, a couple of boutiques, a yoga studio and several other quaint places to visit. Update to my review- Still the best restaurant we have had in Mocksville. My favorites I've tried over the past year: Ribs (greatest ever) Crab dip Buffalo dip Side salad with ranch Sweet potato fries (just wish they had cinnamon sugar on them) Homemade chips I also tried their house margarita last night and was plenty surprised at how excellent that was. We sat outside in a nice February day but needed a little heat but they were out of propane they said . We had the crab dip and hot chips for apps and both were excellent . The chips were so crunchy and not greasy at all. The crab dip nice and creamy and the hot pita excellent . My friends salmon salad was so pretty and plentiful for lunch the next day and the shrimp salad was the same. They have great sauces for their proteins even in a salad . Vast variety of dressings too. I had the grilled chicken on black beans and rice which comes with queso but I opted for none. Nicely seasoned chicken and lots of it. The beans and rice were really flavorful and I could have eaten just that by itself. Really good. Server was attentive and checked by several times. Nice and easy dinner at a local Place I wasn't overly impressed with first time around. So glad I came back to try it again. read more

I came in to meet some people around noon and I was surprised at how busy it was. Even with the amount of customers inside, it appeared that newly arriving guests were being seated immediately. The waitress quickly came over and took my order, the special for the day, steak tacos with a side of fries. The food took an average amount of time to come out. Everything was hot, and it looked and smelled great. The fries were very crispy and didn't need any sauces, which I normally go for. The tacos themselves came with onion and cilantro on it and salsa on the side. I poured the salsa over the tacos and it was the perfect match. Salsa had great flavor and even a little kick to it. I like things spicy so I got some extra Buffalo on the side to pour on. Of everything I've ordered at 101 over the years, this was definitely my favorite dish and I'd absolutely order it again. The check kind of took a while to come out, but once we got it and paid they were quick to return. 101 is a staple for Mocksville that I hope is around for a long time! read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant today for our anniversary. This place is a little gem. Highly recommend eating here. Unique older refurbished building dating back to 1905. We had fried zucchini to start and all i can say is yum. Owner talked to us and takes pride in her business. Wide variety menu. We had steaks and were not disappointed. Found this place randomly after a dentist appointment. The inside is so gorgeous. It's an older building, with hardwood floors, lovely brick and a big beautiful bar. Started with the crab dip, then ordered the half rack of ribs with side salad and French fries, the fish and chips, and the cheese quesadilla for my daughter. Their food is to die for. The ribs were fall of the bone tender and so moist. Not to mention their BBQ sauce was superb. The crab dip was great, but wish the pita weren't so hard. The fish and chips were tasty as well. They were generous sized filets with minimal (but well seasoned ) breading. I asked for the homemade chips to be a little on the floppy side, and they didn't disappoint! All 3 meals plus the appetizer were $53. The service was some of the best I've had this year. I cannot wait to go back and try their "Friday Steak Night" and have a drink. read more

I want to start out with this place has really decent food and bar drinks. My wife and I have been here a lot. Tonight I brought my kids for the first time and ordered wings. I will say they were very tasty. However this is where this place falls of the rails. The menu advertised the price for 25 wings as $27 pictured below. When I got my bill they were $37.50. I asked the waitress who in turn spoke with the owner who pointed out the small disclaimer at the very bottom of the menu. "Prices subject to change".. This is unacceptable, I understand that food is expensive and changing menus is also costly. Could we not expect that someone would mention before the fact a $10.50 price increase on a single menu item! I expressed my concern and paid my last bill at this establishment. read more

My last review was back in 2012. This is an updated review of Restaurant 101. Note, still recommend. Upgraded from 4 to 5 stars. Restaurant 101 is a cornerstone in downtown Mocksville. When they first opened they had some challenges with service but now this place runs like a well oiled machine. Service hiccups are over. Food is a 5 star for Mocksville. Perhaps a 4 star if in a larger city. Menu is pretty diverse. Sandwiches, burgers, steaks, shrimp, pork chops and lots of other items. Never had anything that was bad here. Full bar, outside and inside seating. Beautiful historic building right in downtown. Highly recommend. read more

Hidden gem alert! Such a nice, rustic spot in Downtown Mocksville. Their menu is vast, with lots to choose from. They have everything from burgers and sandwiches to wraps, quesadillas, steaks, seafood and ribs. I settled on the grilled chicken with rice and black beans. It was topped with queso and served with sour cream and salsa. It was a hearty portion! It was only around $14 and came with a side salad. The rice was fluffy and flavorful, the beans were excellent and the chicken was so moist and grilled to perfection. It has a perfect dressing of queso over the top. This is our go to place as Mocksville residents. Good basic fair at good prices and excellent service. The new ownership, early this year, has made some changes in the layout, but the menu and service is the same. The beer selection is pretty wide for the small town dining location. Burgers are good, real cheese; the mushroom Swiss burger is my favorite. The sandwiches are good, the home made chips are excellent consistently, rarely a soggy one... They are now open Tuesday through Saturday, and we are there twice a week normally. The owner and staff is friendly, the clientele is mostly local families. My favorite is the steak salad; excellent meat, a full, but not oversized meal. There are pasta dishes, some seafood and a great special most days through the week. read more

Ate here for the first time today - wife had been once before. Let me say the place is cute and trendy and my bill before tip was only $24. Both of these are good things. I red a bunch of reviews about the service. Our service was on point but they are strictly business here. There is no chit chat, no my name is, no smiles. However, everything was correct, refills were had, daughters cheese cake cane out fast and nobody was lacking anything in the dining room. Need ranch - yes you can. Dirty plates picked up, bill out quickly and tables cleaned right after people left. I would take this over fake niceness all day long. I loved the efficiency of the service here on top of really good food. Let's be honest - I am there to talk to my table not the waitstaff. Nothing about the place knocks my socks off but it's a solid returnable bar/restaurant with lots of options and I could see going here again and again. Sat right away, food was fresh with no issues and it was clean. Whoop whoop. We were seated rather quickly - the floors all hardwood loved the look of the place - it was fairly busy considering it was slightly after lunchtime. We ordered our drinks with came quickly. TV's are located in multiple places on the wall which entertained my daughter, she had already eaten at preschool so we ordered her a cheesecake and she was very excited - I got a taste it was delicious!
