Very small diner feel. There's 5 booths total inside with some bar seating available . (Very similar to Waffle House). The biggest downside to their small size is that the restroom is outside and it has no sink to wash your hands. The sink to wash your hands is in the dining room. Our server was really sweet and made some great recommendations. I ended up trying the fried catfish platter based on her recommendation and it was pretty amazing. It was fried to perfection and was dried with their homemade tarter sauce. The mac and cheese tasted like box Mac and cheese but it was still good. My husband had the ribeye sandwich and he said it was loaded with flavor. We ordered a side of chicken pot pie and the portion size was pretty big. I can only imagine with the entree size is like!

A guy pulled up in a tractor and came in for breakfast. This is a small country breakfast/lunch joint. The waitress was very friendly. The service was fast. Felt like we were at grandma's house for breakfast. The bacon might be the best I've ever had. The hash browns are home fries style and were fantastic. I love going to diners and this will definitely be a top spot moving forward.

I stopped here for lunch today as I was wanting to try something new and had read good reviews about this place. Old Richmond Grill is one of those old school, home in the wall places that serves up neighborhood food at a decent price. The place is located in Pffaftown right beside Bethania, NC. It's located kind of in isolation right at he corner of a stoplight so you cannot miss it. Parking is pretty much of you can find a spot, or you make your own spot since there are not actual spots. I noticed the place seems to be where a lot of locals come, you know the place where the staff watches people's kids grow up before their very eyes. The place is relatively small as their are about five booths and the rest can sit individually at the counter like diner style. I would recommend getting there early or between the breakfast, lunch, and dinner rush. It should be noted that they are also open longer on the weekends and close around 2:30pm during the weekdays, Monday through Wednesday I believe. The waitress was nice and got my drink pretty fast. I had sweet tea, which I had no complaints about at all as it wasn't ridiculously sweet like some places. One of the reasons like like this place is that they serve breakfast anytime, or until they run out of stuff to serve breakfast for the day. That's always a plus in my book! I opted for the Super Omelet which had virtually all the meats, veggies and cheese thrown into 3 eggs. It has sausage, ham, bacon, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and American cheese. It was really delicious, hot and it was so big that the omelet was running off the plate! It came with hashbrowns and toast or a biscuit. I got the biscuit which may have been a little over cooked but it was fine, it came with two of them by the way. I thought the ham could have been cut into smaller pieces, but I was so hungry it didn't even matter. All this was for less than ten bucks, $9.29 I believe. I would come here again for sure. It's got that down to earth feeling to it, and it's really reasonable. Its places like this is why I am thankful to have Yelp!

I had been meaning to try this place out ever since I read about it in Our State. I finally got the opportunity today. This is a small little hole in the wall right on the outskirts of Winston-Salem in the small town of Pfafftown. It's the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else. I always find this as a good sign, because if the locals go there every day then it is usually the type of place that you want to be. It is a great example of a locally owned small Southern diner. There is limited seating, but right as my girlfriend and I walked in the door someone offered up their booth to us and went to sit with a friend. Generosity and friendliness were themes for the rest of our meal. Everyone was very welcoming. They have things that are on the menu every day, but they also have daily specials that they write up on the board. They also don't have a specific time when they stop serving breakfast. It is merely determined on when they run out of ingredients. I had the Super Omelet, which they basically throw everything that they have into (3 eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, and cheese). It was delicious and I was happy to get a breakfast item at 2:00 in the afternoon. On the side I got a made from scratch biscuit (above par but not great) and some really tasty home fries. Also, it is always worth noting when a place has good sweet tea, which is the case here. This is definitely worth a try if you are in the mood for some good local diner food. I will be back.

I chose to eat lunch at Old Richmond Grill today. It is a breakfast and lunch place with dinner two days a week. The dining room seats about 25 including about a dozen counter seats. The owner is a local youth minister and proudly displays his faith prominently throughout the restaurant. My meal included a hot dog and a hot ham and cheese sandwich. The beef hot dog was grilled perfectly and served on a deliciously toasted bun with mustard, chili and slaw. Both sandwiches were excellent but the ham and cheese stood out enough that I will definitely visit again eat the same thing again. A variety of dessert is available including B&G Fried Pies. The waitress offered to heat the pie for me. I have never tried one of these heated before and being adventurous I agreed. I was incredibly satisfied with the result. Heating the pie with a little butter really kicked up the taste and quality of this pie! Considering I ate two sandwiches and a pie the entire meal was around seven dollars which is a fantastic price for a meal out. The waitress was the only member of the staff with whom I spoke. She was exceptionally friendly and provided fast and courteous service. The owner was also friendly and spoke to several other patrons over the counter between preparing meals. He seemed familiar with several of the other customers. Overall there was nothing negative to say about the meal. Everything was great and I will certainly return again soon.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

I have the impression they do Greek food really well but everything else seems mediocre. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was a small portion and lacked flavor. They also initially brought it with brown gravy covering it even though I ordered sausage gravy. Not a big deal, but they told me they had the correct one in the back and would bring it right out. I waited longer than expected for "it's already made," and I'm pretty sure I was lied to and had to wait on a re-fire, which came with the gravy inconspicuously on the side this time, but the service was friendly nonetheless. It was Valentines weekend so we ended up being there while they were quite busy. Still, the wait wasn't terrible, all considered. The French onion soup was delicious, and we were able to get it as a side for only a $2.50 up charge. Worth it! My wife got the turkey meal (not pictured, sorry) and it reminded me exactly of the tom turkey meal I used to get at the diner in NY when I was a growing up! The restaurant is large, bright, and clean though I think it tries to give southern kitchen when really they should probably lean more into the Greek diner vibes. I'll be back to update my review after I've ordered some other options off their menu.

Staff is great, ambience is charming. It's a cool spot with good people. The food was pretty hit or miss. The loaded tots seemed interesting, but really...the just end up a little greasy and kind of unnecessary. Overall flavor is mudled and you don't really get anything by throwing duck on tots. I was hoping it would be one of those dishes that just magically work and are fantastic...but eh, kind of a let down. We also shared a bunch of other dishes. The pimento cheese sandwich was tasty but really hard to eat (the cheese pours out of it). We had their pasta, the duck sandwich (again. It was ok. Not great) the grain bowls seemed enjoyable, etc. We also got some desserts to share. The bourbon bread pudding again, was a pretty big let down. There was generally nothing bourbon about it. The chocolate tart was ok. The food wasn't bad, it just felt like some key items that they seemed to use to elevate their menu as a whole were just misses. But there are absolutely some solid dishes on the menu. The price is also a little high for what you get.
