Decent stay for the price. Definitely some areas for improvement but overall, not bad. PROS: -This hotel is conveniently located walking distance from a number of shops, and convenience stores including Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Total wine, CVS, Starbucks, as well as a few restaurants. There's also a gas station next to the hotel with rather reasonable gas prices. -There is ample, free parking on site. The hotel also offers access to the top floor parking deck from the second floor -Room is cozy and spacious and comes with all of the amenities this brand is known for (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, dining table, etc.). The decor is a bit dated, but it's very comfortable. -Very quiet stay! even though I was not in my preferred top floor corner room, the staff did their best to accommodate me and the room was perfectly and delightfully quiet. -The breakfasts here are definitely some of the best I've had at any Residence Inn. They offer egg white frittatas, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, muffins, bagels, English muffins, oatmeal, boiled eggs (conveniently already shelled and bagged), fruit, and of course everyone's favorite... The Belgian waffles. (There was only one waffle maker though. They should invest in at least one more, to minimize the wait time). Instead of one whole waffle, the waffle maker makes four mini waffles. Perfect for decorating them and topping them with whatever you want. And in addition to syrup, they also offer Nutella, a variety of jams, honey, plus almost a dozen toppings including coconut, raisins, sunflower seeds, banana chips, and a few other fun things. Paper plates are available upon request, and they also offer tiny to-go cups for the syrup. -shower has a nozzle with adjustable setting so I don't have to do the "rotisserie chicken" thing to rinse off. -Washcloths and towels just the right balance between coarse and soft CONS: -The sink area is very small...not enough space for all of my toiletries, but I made it work. -At other Residence Inn locations, there was flavored ice water available 24/7. That is not the case here. While they do have a standard water fountain, it's very difficult to fill up water bottles. I highly recommend adding a water bottle fountain accommodate those of us who travel with our water bottles. -The in-room clothing rack is too close to the ground. I like to iron all of my clothes and hang them up in the closet when I first arrive. However, the highest clothing rack available in the closet area is still so low to the ground that the bottom of my knee-length dresses touched the floor. -The shower takes a very long time to get warm, and the water pressure is frustratingly low. Even with the attachment, it still takes forever to rinse off. -The in-room iron was so old and emitted clouds of dust onto my clothes whenever I used the steam function. Additionally, the gauge was worn so it was difficult to see what setting the iron was on. The mini ironing board in the room made it very difficult to iron clothes. A full size ironing board would have really been helpful. -I have concerns about the availability of the front desk staff. Most of the times that I passed the front desk, there was no one there. It's been this way since the moment I arrived. I walked in and waited at the desk for few minutes before someone finally showed up to check me in. Very early the next morning, I came down to the lobby looking for the fruit infused ice water, and the only employee I found to ask about it was taking a snooze in the bar area. Later the day, I went to the front desk to report a dead insect in one of my light fixtures, as well as a malfunctioning door lock. I returned to my room 8 hours later only to find that the dead insect problem had not been addressed. I called the front desk multiple times to follow up that evening, and no one answered the phone. This situation was only resolved when I went down to the front desk the next morning to complain. There was only one elevator working during our stay, but there were no notices on the elevators or in the lobby to notify us. That made it very difficult to get to where we needed to be when all of the guests and the hotel staff were. sharing one elevator. read more

I was advised by a friend that this hotel location was central to my travel plans. The Residence Inn Springfield was located by major highways that made it easier for me to meet my personal and business requirements. The Hotel offers free high-speed Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and their suites are spacious. The staff was friendly and tried to be as accommodating as possible under my circumstances. When I entered my room, it was clean and looked comfortable. We noticed the phone in the room was inoperable, so we brought it to the front desk for replacement or repair. Later we also noticed that the several TV channels were not operable, and there was not any internet. I had spread sheet analysis work that had a deadline. Luckily, I headed to a friend's home to complete it. When we addressed all these issues to the front desk, they noted that the internet was down, and they are attempting to repair it. That evening, we noticed that the heat was not working properly, so once again we went to the front desk, and they sent someone to our room to repair the thermostat. They left assuming success, but the next evening it was quite chilly still. I addressed all these issues with the front desk, and they stated that they could not do anything for the inconvenience. I ask them to provide me with Marriott support contact information. I am a long-standing Gold Member of Marriott Hotels that has never complained about occasional issues. But in most cases those issues are resolved by the hotel management. I am guessing that this is an isolated situation, so I hope, but I cannot ever lodge at this hotel again when I receive an answer from the front desk stating there is nothing we can do about your inconvenience. read more

Well situated for the college hockey tournament we were attending, and a Marriott, so we figured we'd give it a try. It's ok. But just ok. The rooms were perfectly serviceable, however we had one whose electrical was a problem (circuit breaker that couldn't reset; sparks coming from the breaker panel). Checked in late so no engineer to address it, and consequently no electricity around the bed. In fairness, they offered to move us, but we had already settled in. Front desk team were fabulous upon check in and again when we requested additional pillows. Common areas seemed to need more frequent sweeping or mopping. The enduring memory, though, is of the overwhelming amount of pot smoke in the garage every single time we parked or left. Overwhelming. Fitness center was kind of minimalist, with a single recumbent bike (ugh), two treadmills, two elliptical s, a cable crossover machine, some dumbbells, and a desperately in need of replacement bench. Price was fair. I'd have expected more with the Marriott badge on the property, though. read more

Truly an incredible stay at an incredible hotel. I find this place ideal for stays of all durations, work, or just vacation related. It's relatively new in the Springfield area. It's also very close to the highway for travel/ job, restaurants, the mall, and anything you may need. My family and I have never felt so welcome and so at home. Breakfast was great (much better than expected!). We stayed in a suite with full kitchen, king bed and full bathroom in one room attached and a queen with full bathroom attached on the other side. They allowed our special guest, Daisy!! And she loved it. Exit through the main lobby to the back of the hotel and there are some areas to walk your pets so they can pee peacefully. Main lobby has two entrances one with its own opening from old Keene mill road straight past the hotel to access the FREE Parking garage (they don't give you passes it's just free) and one that goes out the main entrance with a roundabout for pick ups shuttles etc. The pool and hot tub is perfect for winding down after a long day. Everything seems very clean and maintained well. Added pluses include free WiFi and free happy hour foods with full bar! This certainly helps seeing as that the hotel does not have room service or dinner options. I know they also have a bar with snacks available to purchase downstairs in the lobby. I've realized that unless I'm staying in a really fancy hotel that I'm pretty hard on them as my expectations seem to be too high. Was down here in Springfield for a conference and stayed at the Residence Inn. The place was very conveniently located and is an area where there are plenty of places to eat. Check in was quick and they put me in a preferred space (away from the elevator and a high floor) so I was pleased. Breakfasts start a little late here (supposed to be 6:30, but they had some stuff out earlier) and it's cool that they do a 'MIX' each evening with food and beverages. The room was nice, but the bed was a bit uncomfortable and the water pressure for the shower stunk. Overall a decent stay, very friendly staff, free parking, and a nice area. It's a bit pricey for a Residence Inn, but I'd stay here again. read more

I am a military service member and longtime supporter of Marriott hotels. As a Titanium member I have become accustom to a certain level of service within the brand. I am currently deployed to the Middle East and came home on leave to attend my sons high school graduation and move my family from Northern Virginia to Hawaii, which will be my next duty station. My families last few days were mired by the traumatic event my children suffered while staying in the Residence Inn in Springfield VA. On the third day of our visit my son who has significant allergy issues was having episodes. My wife while packing up our luggage noticed sticky strips on the floor of our room. When we looked behind the TV stand in the living room we found a dead rat stuck to one of the strips. We immediately called the front desk and they eventually sent someone to retrieve it, however, they did not remove the remaining strips, and no one made an effort to clean the room after the rat was removed. What is even more disconcerting than the dead rodent being found in our room was the lack of accountability by the hotel leadership. When we checked out early the next morning there was no management on shift, so we were told we would be contacted as soon as someone came in. I called the next day after no one called and was told that they were extremely busy, but they would ensure the manager got my note and would call back. This went on for about a week before I stopped calling and emailing the hotel directly. I usually got a follow up survey from Marriott, but of course in this instance I did not get one to share my experience with them. read more

This is a very nice Residence Inn. Everything is newer and clean. The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable. We utilized every area in the room and it really felt like a second home. A few negatives, making reservations was very weird and took longer than it should have due to some restrictions with our room block. However, it was worth it due to our group rate discount in the end. Secondly, breakfast, though some loved it, I personally thought was awful, but it was free. Parking was also free, which is super cool because free parking is rare in the DMV. Perfect area, not far at all from tourist attractions. Would totally lodge there again. read more

Leftover cashews, and so much more... First they gave us room 606, but when we did the bedbug check, there were cashews under the mattress. Then we checked in to Room 533, a 1 Bedroom Suite, hardly worth calling a Suite, the bed is shoehorned into the room such that one can barely walk around the bed. Just 12 inches between the foot of the bed and the pain in the hip corner of the dresser, ridiculous. The wireless system is dysfunctional, unable to connect to Netflix or Amazon Prime on our iPad. The mirrored sliding glass door on the closet is very difficult to slide, and the frame is broken off the mirror. In the shower there are 2 of the corner soap dishes positioned to the right of the showerhead right where are you are sure to smack your elbow if you try to wash your hair, what a pain. Not to mention that the soap dishes are tiled such that they fill with water and make little lakes. the shower drain backs up, barely drains the tub, so I'm standing in 3 or 4 inches of scummy water at the end of every shower The cabinet under the TV in the living room, just ridiculous, even with the doors fully open, barely able to pull out the drawers, they smack into the hinge side of both doors. And did we mentioned the "tissues?" They are so flimsy that even with 2 or 3 of them you're going to make a mess. We have stayed in dozens of Residence Inns, and this is the worst one we've seen. read more

Maybe a bit to cluttered but worth the price paid I feel, Kitchen area ect were very nice, I would stay at this location again No problem. we were on the 6th Floor room 109. Which overlooks an adult video store which made for some great jokes on the trip so i thank the owner of that dingy establishment for that. The breakfast area is pretty cool , the breakfast options in the morning are also better then most, eggs, sausage, potato pancakes, bagels ect. Ya know.... breakfast shit. The one thing about the hotel that was rather annoying is that the parking and how it connects to the hotel is kind of confusing and sort of like navigating pans labyrinth. I was waiting for a trap door to pop open at any second every wrong turn i took trying to find my way back to my car with my loaded up luggage carousal. But good news is i made it... so rest easy. Still Staying at this nice pricey hotel . But it's upsetting that it's summer time and there pool is closed . Going on 2 1/2 weeks of being here the pool has not been open . There free breakfast that they offer is really low grade . I feel like I'm in a gas station store grabbing heated pre made food . Overall perfect place! Stayed here for 10 days since we are a military family relocating. They put us on the 6th floor (top) room 635 (all the way at the end of the hall) perfect room although the walk from the elevator is a bit far. The room we had was a one bedroom suite, king size bed, one bathroom, full kitchen (ice box has an ice machine, the kitchen also has pots pans dishes utensils a dishwasher microwave and a double stove top *no oven), living room with pull out bed, dining table and desk. We do wish that breakfast was served a bit longer instead of ending at 9am because we had a hard time getting out of the comfortable king size bed! I would recommend this hotel for everyone! Perfect price, free shuttle (comes every 30min), nearby grocery store (Giants within walking distance), SPRINGFIELD MALL (shuttle can take you there), friendly staff that greets you throughout your day (mainly housekeeping), mixer nights (every mon, tues, wed between 6pm-730pm free food beer wine sangria), parking in garage (free parking), mini market in lobby, indoor pool (hours are 5pm-10pm on weekdays and 10am-10pm on weekends), gym (open 24hrs), computers/printers in lobby to use freely, carts for luggage and super clean! Due to military travel issues, I was unable to arrive the night of the first reservation. I showed up the next night and the hotel had given my room away. I was able to get a room for a couple nights and they still charged me a $202 cancellation fee even though I didn't cancel (I was delayed), they made their money by giving my room away, and I still stayed there a couple of nights. The manager was an arrogant jerk who couldn't be bothered to even try to help. Highly recommend no military people stay here. As a long-time Marriott customer with over six years as a Lifetime Gold Elite and less than 20 nights to Titanium Elite, I'm switching to Hilton from now on. My family and I stayed at the Residence Inn Springfield Old Keene earlier this month while on a visit to see family. The staff at the hotel could not have made our stay any more pleasurable. Our first interaction at the hotel was with Marie as we checked in. Marie made sure that we had a fantastic room and made sure that we were comfortable and found the room acceptable after we had been settled in for a bit. Throughout our stay, Marie made sure that we were as comfortable and happy as possible. There wasn't a single time when we came in to the lobby, where we weren't greeted by name and asked how our stay was and if there was something that they could do to make our visit more comfortable. Services at the hotel have been curtailed during the Covid pandemic, but the hotel is doing all they can to make their customers comfortable and feel valued at this time. The gym is open with restrictions, the breakfast buffet has been suspended and replaced with generous 'to-go' bags for each guest; unfortunately the pool is closed due to local health regulations. While all of us are adjusting to the new travel normal, it is refreshing to find a hotel and staff who have made the adjustment and are doing all they can to make sure their customers' stays are as normal as possible. Our family has temporarily relocated to the Washington DC area for the next year or so. We look forward to staying at the Residence Inn Springfield Old Keene on our future visits. read more

My family has been displaced from their home due to a house fire for an extended period of time. Let me start off by saying this should never have to happen to anyone and that it's truly tragic to be displaced from your home due to a house fire. But miracle does happen and no one was hurt in the house fire; and in the end, that's all that matters. Now with that said, I can't say enough good things about this particular Residence inn in this oddball location of Springfield, VA. Let me sum it up in one sentence for you: Service, Service, Service. It's such a simple concept that so many establishments simply cannot execute. Forget about the oddball location, forget lack of the 'view'; and if you want an awesome view, why are you staying in godforsaken Springfield, VA of all places? This place treats you like family. The staff here (especially Lisa, Yesenia, Dina) truly cares about their customers and I can't say enough good things about the staff. For example, my preteen niece throws hissy fit about her Wii remote being out battery; staff's response? A set of new AA batteries to your door in 2 minutes. BAM, crisis averted. They'll go above and beyond, walk that extra mile, and then some to make you feel like you're at your second home. Second home; with that said, I rest my case. read more

I have stayed here MANY times in the last couple of years on business. One of the major reasons I stay here is for the breakfast & dinner meals which are included. The rooms are great. Linens, great. People, fantastic. Breakfasts are still good. But the Mon-Wed "dinner" has been drastically reduced the last couple of months. I stayed here this past September and their dinners were a suitable for a night in for simple food. Last night they didn't even open their kitchen, but instead put hot-plates out of kids food. Corn dogs the past two nights. Tonight were these mini dry burgers. Last night were these dry quiche's. Yes it'll fill you up, but honestly the McDonald's down the street provide fresher food, and more variety. Really unfortunate because this has been the only hotel I've been to in the DC area the past few years, so I recognize these cost savings. read more

We stayed here last weekend for an overnight trip to DC. We were very impressed. The cost was great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will even go grocery shopping at no charge! I almost wanted to just to say i did! The room was super clean, had a full kitchen! There was a large sink and mirror area which the ladies can appreciate! They had a complimentary dinner and breakfast. We went out for dinner but the breakfast was great. Even make your own waffles which the kids in the hotel seemed to be enjoying. We were planning to take the metro into DC, so it was not far from the hotel at all. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I was fortunate to spend five nights here recently for a work trip and can easily say it was a great experience. Granted, I wasn't in the room a whole lot between working during the day and exploring the local area during the evening, but I was completely content when I was. The Residence Inn offers more than just a normal "hotel" room, which includes a small kitchenette, living area, bathroom and bedroom. In addition, they had a full breakfast every morning and a free dinner/drink reception at night in their downstairs serving area near the lobby. Throw in a fitness center, laundry room, free parking in their attached garage, friendly/helpful staff and a convenient location near I-95, the Springfield Mall and Metro Blue line...I was actually disappointed when we had to leave and go home. read more

I stayed here for a week while working in neighboring D.C. I travel around the country and have had my share of experiences at various hotels. Some, more memorable than others. I have to say that this hotel stay was the most positive experience I have had...ever. Their management, the staff and the property was TOP NOTCH! The hotel provided daily shuttle rides to my girlfriend and I, complimentary breakfast...dinner and spirits. The drivers (Marriott employees) were extremely cordial, helpful and knowledgable. One employee that stood out was "Josiah". He's working long hours, taking college courses and studying Japanese. He also mentioned he's from Little Rock so I have to give him a shout out! I wish him good luck in all his endeavors. While in DC, I proposed to my girlfriend and the next day, we entered our room and the staff had placed balloons, wine and a card from the hotel staff congratulating us! In closing, I just want to say that I appreciate all of the personal attention that my fiancé and I received and I hope that Marriott management recognizes how exceptional their employees are that work at this location! read more

The staff service was good and our 2 bedroom suite worked well for us, it was very clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful, Marie was very nice and helpful and another gentlemen but we did not get his name. The hotel was near the metro and hotel provided a shuttle, so we took the metro into DC quite a few times and we also drove into DC with no issues. The evening mixer was nice, with drinks and snacks. The complimentary breakfast was fair, we have stayed at many other Marriotts and the breakfasts have been really good so we were disappointed that it was not that good. The Market was very small and never seemed to get restocked. This is the reason for the 3 stars. The hotel was close to freeways/highways and we felt it was in a good location as we did day trips to Alexandria, Mt. Vernon and Quantico. We had never been to this area before so it worked out for us. We would stay here again. read more

Stayed here over the weekend while visiting extended family in the area. Weekend rates are very reasonable, considering breakfast is included. The rooms are well kept. Yes the couch in the room is showing it's age, but everything else looks relatively new. Thanks to Marriott's acquisition of Starwood Hotels, I now have Gold Elite status with Marriott. This came in handy when they gave me a free upgrade from a studio to a 2-bedroom suite on the top floor (There's only 6 floors, so don't get too excited haha). The hotel itself has it's own parking garage, which is very convenient. There is a huge strip mall a block or two away from the hotel. The strip mall has everything from a supermarket, Trader Joe's, fast food, to Vietnamese, Japanese, Halal, and bbq restaurants. I found it convenient during the first night, when I didn't want to go too far from the hotel to get dinner. read more

About 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21st a man and women walked into my room. He said the front desk provided him the key. It was apparent that this was a HUGE mistake, as I was not scheduled to leave the hotel until the next day. I was mortified,.... to say the least! Although I didn't have much need for it, the TV remote control was very simplistic and did not have an option to view the onscreen menu. Overall, the staff is superb! I selected this hotel partly because of the Yelp! reviews about the staff. They did not disappoint! Unfortunately, I did not get the names for inclusion in this review. I was very sorry to witness a staff member fall flat on her back in the hallway lobby. I also saw staff attending to a guest seated in the public breakfast area. I was told that she had fallen as well. I'm not sure if the floor was wet because of the heavy downpour of showers outside getting tracked inside or because it was getting cleaned at the time. Needless to say, it was really sad to see both ladies in pain, especially if this could have somehow been avoided. This is the first Residence Inn I've stayed in, and was very impressed. Most importantly, the room I stayed in was clean. The room wasn't huge, but the layout made the most of every square inch and it was extremely comfortable. I was only here for a night, but with a full kitchen this would be an excellent place to stay for longer durations of time. The bed was extremely comfortable and the television was able to swivel to face both the living area and the bedroom. Overall, the furnishings in the room were pretty modern and tasteful. Also, the bathroom was pretty spacious. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The complementary breakfast offered quite a selection, including continental breakfast, hot items, and "do it yourself" Belgian waffles. I didn't take advantage of either the pool or the fitness room. I doubt that I will be staying in this area again any time soon, but if I do I will definitely remember to book my hotel room here. Ok, how do I begin. I stay at a lot of Marriott properties and this was physically the worst. The hotel is a newer hotel but very dirty. There was no maid service for the 7 days that I stayed here. There was no amenities, I understand the covid situation but I just spent 30 days at another Marriott property. The staff was helpful as always. I will not be staying here again. Marriott is a billion dollar company but will not staff its hotels properly to make sure the guest who are essential are treated the same everywhere. I would recommend to stay next door the Hilton property because obviously Marriott does not care about this one. I am a platinum elite member with Marriott and will be taking my complaints to corporate. read more

A very nice stay! The price was great because I caught a AAA special on the Marriott website. The room was well designed and extremely clean. If I had a complaint about that, it would be that some of the furniture showed signs of excessive use - meaning, the couch cushion didn't look like anything that I'd want to sit on & the arm on the computer desk chair was wobbly and being held together by tape (Room 211). But those issues were minor when considering the overall value and quality of stay. I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast; not bad... not good either... but par for the course. I got a little annoyed that I was denied 'late checkout' - on a Sunday Morning - in a half empty hotel. Plus, I'm a Marriott Member! The front desk guy, (Alan), said that they "couldn't grant any more late checkouts." Maybe they had a large crowd arriving on Sunday, but I doubt it. Last Important thing to look out for!!!! Stay away from "The Market"!!!! The little sundry shop for chips and soda. They charge $3 for a bottle of water!!! Every 20 oz. beverage was $3 or higher. I was dying of thirst so I paid $7.16 for (2) bottles of water. That wiped away a good portion of my savings on the room fee. Ridiculous. read more

I love the Residence Inn normally, but where I was on the second floor, I heard too much road noise, or some kinda noise. I didn't complain. The service was great there. Enjoyed their little dinners Mon-Wed (no more Thursday freebie), and the people that work there are super cool. Was teaching a computer class there (Linux if you wanna know), and they bent over backwards to keep me and my students happy. read more

Fantastic hotel! Very clean, comfortable, and cozy. As noted by the previous reviewer, the room is exactly like the pictures on the website. The free breakfast buffet was also impressive when compared to other hotels'. I stayed 3 nights in Sept 2011. First night I had scrambled eggs, sausage, French toast sticks, Dannon Activia yogurt, and a blueberry muffin. read more

This Residence Inn not only has horrible customer service, the condition of property is not well maintained. Our tub didn't drain, the cable is in and out, TV's in the gym don't work and there was disgusting gunk on the bedroom walls. After complaining to the front desk, they sent someone up to fix it who said let me go back down to get my tools and never came back. We then called again, and they sent someone else who said he didn't know how to fix it. Really??? We moved rooms the next day only to experience more problems. The management could care less about all the problems. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere! read more

The hotel itself is ok. A little messy and I noticed many times that there was no one at the front desk but instead employees were eating, on their phone or chatting in an open area to the left of the check-in desk. The biggest issue with this hotel is their lack of any type of professional customer service. Upon check-in on 12/23/2017 around 5:30-6:30 as I was checking in I noticed a paper at the front desk regarding their pet policy. While reading this I saw that I would be charged a $150 non-refundable fee. We have stayed at quite a few Marriott family hotels with our dog and have yet to be charged this fee including the nearby Towne Suites. I informed the woman checking us in, Julie Blanco that I had actually called before I made the reservation and spoke to someone at the front desk regarding their pet policy because I could not find it anywhere on their website and at no time during that phone call was any type of pet fee mentioned. When I told her the situation and that I was not pleased, had stayed at other Marriotts and not encountered this, Miss Blanco's next statement to me was"Well, I can cancel your reservation and you can stay somewhere else". She was rude, eyes rolling and had an attitude from the start. At no time did I raise my voice or threaten Miss Blanco. I asked for a manager and was told that she was one. I also told her that I was a gold elite member and had never had encountered an issue at any Marriott I had stayed at. Miss Blanco than told me that she was canceling my reservation and would be calling the authorities to have me escorted off the property. I was in shock and asked why and what the authorities would do. She told me they would forcibly escort me off the property. It was then that Miss Bogale the assistant property manager appeared and the other front desk person went over to her and explained the situation. Miss Bogales after hearing the situation told me there was nothing she would do regarding the pet deposit and while I was speaking pulled up from your website the pet policy, read it back to me and then asked if, "Would you like me to screen shot it for you?". Not only were both of employees rude and not helpful but they exacerbated the situation by their attitudes and their uneeded and truthfully laughable escalation of the situation. They made an unpleasent situation much worse than it needed to be. Once again, I never raised my voice and the only threat I made was to tell them I would be contacting both their franchise owner and Marriott corporate. I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever had an issue with a Marriott brand hotel and it makes me rethink my loyality to your brand if this is the type of customer service that is put forward by your fanchises. read more

Just spent most of March living here while in the area for some work related training. It came highly recommended by my company and I can definitely see why. I was able to stay in both a studio and one bedroom and both were roomy. The studio had a 46" TV on a swivel stand that you could rotate between the bed and the living room while the one bedroom had 42" TVs, one in the bedroom and the other in the living room. Personally the studio met my requirements as a single occupant, but the 1 bedroom with the pullout couch/bed could easily fit a family of four. The living room had the aforementioned couch, along with a center table and single chair. I rarely used these accouterments, instead spending most of my time at the table/chair with complimentary CAT5 cable connection and enough plugs in and around it to charge my laptop, phone, and ipad without needing an additional power strip. There is also free wireless if you didn't want to "jack in" to the wall plug. The kitchenette was quite functional, with two electric burners, a full size sink, a full size refrigerators, and everything you need to cook and eat with (pots, pans, plates, utensils) This on top of their complimentary breakfast and dinner (Mon. through Thur.) and nearly all of my food needs were met. There's also a shopping center around the corner with a Giant's supermarket, Trader Joe's, and Kmart where you can pick up all the groceries you need. And if you don't want to cook, there are a handful of eateries within walking distance for those that don't want to use that kitchen. ;) The complimentary breakfast is your standard fare of eggs, sausage, bagels, etc. There wasn't much in the way of fresh fruit (occasionally they'd have a bowl of fruit out) but that's a minor complaint. The dinners weren't fulfilling as the offerings usually consisted of a main dish, two side dishes, and that's about it. The only good part was the alcohol which was supposed to be a 2 beer/ 2 wine glass maximum but as the days went on, we became regular faces and the maximum went up to 5-6. Thanks! Parking was plentiful except for the weekend of the Cherry Blossom bloom (or what was supposed to be the bloom; a cold snap ended that dream) which was the only weekend where I had to park on the third floor. Outside of that weekend, I had to park on the second floor once. The rest of the time it wasn't difficult to find a spot on the first floor. The biggest plus, and the reason why I give this place 5 stars, is the attentivenesss and friendliness of the staff. From the first day, they met all of my needs. Ran out of water bottles one night and as I headed out into the cold night to walk to the store to get some, the woman at the front desk asked what I was doing. I told her, and she said no need to go. She pulled three bottles from a fridge and said it was on the house. Another night, I was planning to wash my clothes but realized I didn't have any soap. I headed to the front desk and another woman handed me a sample pack of tide to use. I also left a dollar and a candy bar or two every morning for the cleaning crew and they left a hand written thank you note every day as well. I checked out for a few days to head to another state but when I came back, they all remembered my name and the gal at the front desk tried her best to get my "old" room back and when she couldn't, upgraded me to the one bed for the same price as my old room. The little touches like this ensured that when I head back to DC, I'll be staying here again. Highly recommended! read more

I really hate to bring their rating down with a 3 star review but I just wasn't very impressed during my week-long stay here for a business trip. There are some things that this hotel does spectacularly well. The hot breakfast AND dinner (woohoo!) were simple but delicious, the rooms were clean, and the staff was pleasant. However, my two main criteria for a "good" hotel stay weren't met. My bed wasn't that comfortable and my air conditioning unit was exceedingly loud. I'll get to those more in a minute. I had high hopes after reading all the reviews for this place. The pictures online are exactly how the room looked. I loved that it came with a full-sized fridge, stove top, microwave, and cookware. Check-in was fast and efficient. The staff during meal times were always very friendly and cleaned up quickly. The location is convenient, and parking is free. Wi-fi is the standard slow speed, but it's free and I was able to watch Netflix on my Kindle. My room was *almost* spotless except for a small blood dot on one pillow that I ended up putting in the closet for the duration of my stay. The reason that this hotel doesn't get a full 5 stars from me starts with the bed. I realize that bed comfort is highly subjective, but my mattress actually creaked and groaned when I got into it, out of it, or rolled over heavily. The pillows looked fluffy, but deflated to a pancake when slept on. However, my main huge issue had to do with my air conditioning unit. It was LOUD and would come on every 15 minutes or so with a dull roar. It was also located 3 feet from the bed. Unlike many hotels I've stayed at before, there is no "fan" option that allows you to maintain a constant background noise; with this unit you either have the AC on and deal with it roaring to life every 15 minutes for 5-10 minutes at a time, or you leave it off completely. I complained twice and each time maintenance looked at it and said it was working fine. I was also told that the studio rooms tended to be a lot noisier than the separated rooms. At the third complaint (3rd day) I was offered to switch rooms, but by that time I visited the room of a coworker staying in the same hotel and found that while his unit was slightly quieter, it was still loud and switching rooms would likely not give me any relief. I tried sleeping without the AC on, but it was exceedingly hot and muggy that week so that didn't work well. Overall, every night I was constantly interrupted in my sleep and needless to say, I was pretty tired when I got home. read more
