All walls and corners were filthy.
    Nicole S.

Terribly dirty and rundown. I couldn't check-out fast enough. I would not ever stay here again. I feel that I should receive a full refund because there is fraud going on with this hotel. The photos and favorable reviews online must be fake because there's no way that anyone who takes regular showers or knows how to keep their house minimally clean would give anything more than 1 star. The parking lot is dark and feels very unsafe. They have the nerve to say they charge $12 for parking (for what?!) and then give you a "courtesy" of giving you free parking. Thanks for nothing, I guess. The only good things were the water pressure in the shower and the breakfast. Everything about the hotel room was dirty, rundown and not properly maintained or fixed. I couldn't even get a hair dryer because they don't have them in every room. Apparently they don't have cleaning standards in every room either. I would never stay here again. Marriott - do you even care? Consider pulling your name from this slum immediately if you have any standards - because they sure don't.

If I can add a zero stars I would choose zero for this hotel! I booked a stay at the Towneplace Suites By Marriott located at 6245 Brandon Avenue, Springfield, VA USA 22150.  Upon arriving, I took out my driver's licence and asked that all charges go to my card online, which I already paid ahead of my arrival.  The front desk clerk insisted on me swiping my card, which at the time I could not find it, I later did.  But by this time I had to swipe another card and she told me she charged that card for my stay.  I was irritated, and told her if I paid ahead of time why was I swiping my card and paying again.   She booked me in a first floor room, which I asked that I get another room not on the first floor.  I do not like staying on the first floor as a woman traveling alone. She insisted there was no other room, upon entering the room, I went to set up my laptop on the desk in the bedroom and it was dirty, I took out my wipes and found it was something caked on the desk but as I applied pressure it was being removed.  I went back to the desk and told her I want another room, something that was cleaned.  I was moved from 136 to 236.  In 236, after I settled down and as I entered the bathroom, I noticed the toilet seat was up and I could see where it was dirty, I called the front desk several times before I got a response, actually, only when I called from my cell phone did I get a response.  I spoke with Vickie and told her the toilet was dirty, she proceeded to tell me she has the best head of housekeeping and the rooms are checked, I told her 236 was missed, she then proceeded to have a conversation with someone else and put me on hold, she did not return, I hung up and packed up and left the hotel. I also wanted to add, I used the app to ask if I could check in early around 12 noon, I did not get a response until after that even to let me know I can check in after 5pm.  I later used the app to request additional blankets at 8pm, I never got the blankets or a response. As I left the hotel, Vickie apologized only when I gave her the room keys and told her I had pictures of the dirty bathroom, with the previous guest soap still sitting in the shower.

Friendly staff and the kitchen (which I did not use) was clean but that's the best I can say. Dogs were barking all the time (one room had 3 dogs!), furniture was old & beat up, bedding was upside down & there were tags in my face, floor didn't feel clean. I stayed here for price and convenience but will spend a few dollars more next time & stay elsewhere.

Stayed here for a business trip. Nice central location nearby the interstate, just a few off-ramps from my trip location. Good amount of restaurants and stores nearby. Out of 5 night stay, we ate within walking distance 3 times. Nice sized room, ac, flatscreen, free wifi, complete kitchen with burners, oven, microwave, and full sized refrigerator. Complimentary continental breakfast (nothing hot except waffles) and shuttle to the Metro station. I needed the Marriott nights, so this worked out. Good stay and one to keep in mind whenever work takes me back to the Springfield VA area! Will repeat and recommend!

This place is geared toward the extended stay crowd. It's fairly generic and I'm not complaining for anything other than a single thing... and it's the simplest thing. It reflects, unfortunately on the cleaning staff and probably not on the hotel as a whole... but hard dried boogers and deeply imbedded mold in the shower curtain, that's a basic lack of attention to detail. 2 stars is gracious.

This location I give it a four star. Not a five because they good were they could do more. HOTEL ROOM *****Bed was really nice and firm and something I my buy my self. Also every room has a hid away couch. Also very good as well the furnisher ****Kitchen is very nice but I can see if you have a long stay. But only for $96.00 a night you will go for it. -Stove: oven and four electric to cook on. -Nice size sink, Refrigerator, Microwave, toaster. ***Morning Breakfast. This is very good they switch up from pancake to waffles you can make fresh. Hard bowl eggs and there pre-made for the hotels changes. Coffees good as well they have the special creamers. ***Free WiFi and location with a special password to log in. Computer is located by the lobby and sitting place. There more by the breakfast room. ***Washer and dryer are one of the best thing to have at a hotel so you don't need to pack to much clothing. Washing detergent at the front desk. ***They have a small store they sell food, drink, wine and beer. Also all your traveling stuff make you outing very good. Sometime they give them to the customer for free. ****Shuttle bus to and from Metro is out standing. They even take you local areas if they have time or the staff. **** Pool very very small pool but not to many people every use the pool. Even they have something for people that can't walk help in getting in the water. Hotel is next to eatery restaurants, and 7 11 stores. And a Shopping center there remodeling and a shopping mall. If I needed a place to stay I go to this hotel.

We were charged for audiovisual services that were not functional when our seminar began. Staff onsite were unable to operate the equipment and acknowledged they were not trained. We had to bring in outside equipment at our own expense to keep the event going. The hotel later refunded the AV charge, but refused to cover the additional cost we incurred due to their failure. Even more concerning was the behavior of the Catering Manager, who was confrontational and unprofessional in front of guests and staff. This included a heated exchange that was visible to attendees and others present, including representatives from a nonprofit organization we were supporting. That level of conduct is not what you expect when hosting a professional event. This property has a lot of potential, but based on this experience, I would be very cautious about hosting an event here without clear assurances around on-site management.

When I arrived at check-in time, my Digital Key wasn't ready and I had to wait 30 mins in the lobby until the room was ready. They did clam to refund the parking fee ($17) for the inconvenience so that's nice. The room itself was fine. Though they didn't have linens for the pull out sofa bed nor did they have shampoo in the shower. The toilet handle was malfunctioning and the shower drain was wacky too so those were minor inconveniences. Beds were comfy and the room was fine so good there. The pool was closed starting on Christmas Day to January 31. No reason was given. I'm not blaming them for it but it was a bummer for my kids. Fitness Center was there too but I can't comment on it as we didn't use it. The evening complimentary reception was decent. Adults get two free alcoholic beverages and kids have their choice of unlimited juices of soda. The food was tortilla chips, veggies, fruit, cookies (which ran out and not replaced), and cheese/crackers. Breakfast consisted of made to order food as well as a buffet of sorts. Eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage, and biscuits/gravy were the hot food choices. Bagels, fruit, and cereal other options as well. No waffle maker in sight which is unusual for Hilton hotels. All in all it was a decent stay and is conveniently right off 95. Would I come here again if I need too? Maybe, but it wouldn't be something I'd be over the moon looking forward to.

This is easily a top 3 WORST experience I've ever had at a Marriott. Check in: the lady at the desk was cold and barely even acknowledged my existence. Not a word about being a good member or lifetime status member. The pool was closed. We had a very large group and part of why we chose this hotel was for the pool so the kids could play in it. Not a single word at check in about it being closed, not was it on the website or in an email. Simply unacceptable. There was an extremely large group or groups of teenage kids there for DC tours or sporting events. The hallways were extremely loud ALL night long and made it impossible to sleep. If your hotel knows about these large groups (and they know exactly how many there are) they should be placing them in one area, together, away from everyone else so families and travelers can get rest. Putting all these kids and groups around families is begging for disaster. Simply unacceptable. My room was next to a busy street and ALL night long I could hear cars going by, another reason I didn't get much sleep during my stay. My room smoke detector was beeping all night long, when it started I called down to the front desk and the phone rang for 10 minutes and yet no one picked it up. I went down to find the front desk worker and no one was around, even after I waited about 10 minutes. The next day I told the workers at the front desk about the beeping and asked for it to be fixed. When I returned to my room that night the beeping was still there. Completely unacceptable to not fix that after being asked to. The fire alarm went off at 630am, waking every person and forcing us to go outside where it was freezing temperatures. After we finally got back inside we were told it was just a false alarm, not someone pulling the alarm. Our family has a special needs child and he was absolutely terrified the rest of the trip, he kept asking if we were going to die in a fire because of the fire alarm. The rooms are old and outdated, we had one room where the wall paper was falling off the walls all over the place. My pillows were terrible, they had different styles but none of them provided any kind of softness or comfort. I am still looking for the managers direct email, I am demanding my points be returned to me for this stay, it was truly a terrible experience from the time I steeped onto that property. This hotel should be stripped of the Marriott name because it completely ruins the brand.

The hotel also offers access to the top floor parking deck from the second floor -Room is cozy and spacious and comes with all of the amenities this brand is known for (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, dining table, etc.). The decor is a bit dated, but it's very comfortable. -Very quiet stay! even though I was not in my preferred top floor corner room, the staff did their best to accommodate me and the room was perfectly and delightfully quiet. -The breakfasts here are definitely some of the best I've had at any Residence Inn. They offer egg white frittatas, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, muffins, bagels, English muffins, oatmeal, boiled eggs (conveniently already shelled and bagged), fruit, and of course everyone's favorite... The Belgian waffles. (There was only one waffle maker though. They should invest in at least one more, to minimize the wait time). Instead of one whole waffle, the waffle maker makes four mini waffles. Perfect for decorating them and topping them with whatever you want. And in addition to syrup, they also offer Nutella, a variety of jams, honey, plus almost a dozen toppings including coconut, raisins, sunflower seeds, banana chips, and a few other fun things. Paper plates are available upon request, and they also offer tiny to-go cups for the syrup. -shower has a nozzle with adjustable setting so I don't have to do the "rotisserie chicken" thing to rinse off. -Washcloths and towels just the right balance between coarse and soft CONS: -The sink area is very small...not enough space for all of my toiletries, but I made it work. -At other Residence Inn locations, there was flavored ice water available 24/7. That is not the case here. While they do have a standard water fountain, it's very difficult to fill up water bottles. I highly recommend adding a water bottle fountain accommodate those of us who travel with our water bottles. -The in-room clothing rack is too close to the ground. I like to iron all of my clothes and hang them up in the closet when I first arrive. However, the highest clothing rack available in the closet area is still so low to the ground that the bottom of my knee-length dresses touched the floor. -The shower takes a very long time to get warm, and the water pressure is frustratingly low. Even with the attachment, it still takes forever to rinse off. -The in-room iron was so old and emitted clouds of dust onto my clothes whenever I used the steam function. Additionally, the gauge was worn so it was difficult to see what setting the iron was on. The mini ironing board in the room made it very difficult to iron clothes. A full size ironing board would have really been helpful. -I have concerns about the availability of the front desk staff. Most of the times that I passed the front desk, there was no one there. It's been this way since the moment I arrived. I walked in and waited at the desk for few minutes before someone finally showed up to check me in. Very early the next morning, I came down to the lobby looking for the fruit infused ice water, and the only employee I found to ask about it was taking a snooze in the bar area. Later the day, I went to the front desk to report a dead insect in one of my light fixtures, as well as a malfunctioning door lock. I returned to my room 8 hours later only to find that the dead insect problem had not been addressed. I called the front desk multiple times to follow up that evening, and no one answered the phone. This situation was only resolved when I went down to the front desk the next morning to complain. There was only one elevator working during our stay, but there were no notices on the elevators or in the lobby to notify us. That made it very difficult to get to where we needed to be when all of the guests and the hotel staff were. sharing one elevator.

Later we also noticed that the several TV channels were not operable, and there was not any internet. I had spread sheet analysis work that had a deadline. Luckily, I headed to a friend's home to complete it. When we addressed all these issues to the front desk, they noted that the internet was down, and they are attempting to repair it. That evening, we noticed that the heat was not working properly, so once again we went to the front desk, and they sent someone to our room to repair the thermostat. They left assuming success, but the next evening it was quite chilly still. I addressed all these issues with the front desk, and they stated that they could not do anything for the inconvenience. We decided on not upgrading, since I requested connecting rooms and they are only available in double queen. I advised the representative that I would be arriving around 6-7 PM that evening and she said, "great, see you later!" After driving five hours to Springfield from New York with my child, I arrived at the hotel at 7PM only to be told that my reservation had been canceled. The man at the front desk spoke in single syllables, said there was nothing he could do and no manager that I could speak to. He also said he could not look and see who had called me from the hotel that morning because they don't keep records of customer service interactions or calls regarding reservations. Perhaps most appallingly, he did not offer to see if they had any rooms available for me to stay in!!!!! The only thing he could manage to accomplish during the exchange was to confirm that the phone number that called me to discuss my longstanding reservation that morning was, in fact, the hotel's phone number. This hotel left me stranded 5 hours from home alone with my child and didn't even attempt to pretend to care. I was on the phone with hotels.com for an hour in my car in this hotel's parking lot with my hungry and upset child to try to rectify this. And still- this hotel refused to help the hotels.com agent or offer any apology or recompense whatsoever. The only hotel I could find at the last minute was an hour away. I didn't check in until 10PM. What an absolute nightmare. Be careful booking here. Confirm your reservation multiple times and take down names of who you spoke to and when. And try to check in during management hours in case something does go wrong.
