Y'all. I feel like a person again…read more My eyebrows were never destined for greatness before Heather. When I was 3, I was bit in the eye by a Dalmatian. As a result, I have slightly less tissue under my right eyebrow than my left. Combined with a roller skating accident that removed the top of my arch when I was 12, and my right eyebrow has always been sort of a rebel. It has frustrated aestheticians, make up artists, and brow threaders my entire life. If you look in the photos, I even marked where almost no eyebrow exists naturally. Heather fixed it all, and I didn't even feel it. After two sessions, I now leave the house without worrying about anything more than some eyebrow gel. Tweezing my eyebrows is 100x easier because I have a clear definition of what should be plucked. And the shape is so much more even. When I told Heather I wanted a bit stronger brow than average, she delivered it perfectly. The best part is no one can tell that I've had anything permanent done. When I mention it, they look confused, then closely look at my eyebrows in amazement. If you aren't familiar with microblading, it is semi-permanent strokes added into your natural brow to fill and correct shape and density. With Heather, I didn't feel a thing because she goes above and beyond to find topical products that work. And while the initial price tag might make you balk, it's the best deal you'll find in Austin and, IMO, the best person you'll find to do them. It really is an investment that pays off in time, confidence, and (if you used to churn through brow products), serious savings. I can't recommend the process or Heather enough. Let's just say this is some of the best money I've ever spent, the other being laser hair removal 16 years ago; vanity meets laziness... I get compliments all the time about how fantastic my brows look. I should just say thanks, but I can't help but launch into a "Thanks, I got them tattooed!" speech. The day of my second touchup I had someone ask me how I got my eyeliner so perfect all the time. Secret's out now! Before I went in I had several e-mail conversations with pictures, and then a phone consultation. I've been wanting to do this for years, but it's scary finding someone you can trust to tattoo your face! There's no hiding it, so I really wanted to be sure. I had my eyebrows and eyeliner done; bold, slight wing on top, mucosal for the lower (outer corners). Before I got my brows done I had been growing them out for about 2 years. I went through a pretty thin phase -I don't even think intentionally- it just happened! Like when you start to gain weight and you don't notice until it's too late, and then you have to give up bread and queso, which is basically impossible. I digress. I had made pretty good progress growing them out, but they were still a little sparse in places. Lauren to the rescue! The Timeline July 27th, 2016 Brows (Round 1) Top Eyeliner (Round 1) Lower Lash Enhancement (Round 1) August 31st, 2016 Top Eyeliner (Round 2) Lower Mucosal (Round 1) A little more bold on the bottom, but still only going about a third of the way in. November 9th, 2016 Brows (Round 2) Top Eyeliner (Round 3) Lower Mucosal (Round 2) February 22nd, 2017 Brows (Round 3) Lower Mucosal (Round 3) Make sure to go in about 2 weeks before/ 2 weeks after your period; the pain is harder to tolerate when you're on your cycle. My first appointment lasted 3.5 hours, about 2.75 hours of tattooing (experiencing the most discomfort during the last 30 minutes). The rest of the time was talking about what I wanted, looking at pictures of her work, numbing my eyes and eyebrows, picking the color I wanted (a dark brown to match my brows, and a black for the eyeliner), and Lauren breaking out a ruler and marking up your face until she's satisfied with the shape. At Lauren's direction the night before I took 50mg of Benadryl, and then about an hour before my appointment I took another 50mg of Benadryl (to reduce tearing up), and 1g of Tylenol (to reduce swelling and pain). Lauren uses a lidocaine gel and lets it sit for a good 20-30 minutes, then she makes a few cuts and adds more lidocaine so you get good and numb. You can hear and feel what's going on, but it doesn't hurt, you mostly feel pressure. She also will reapply more if you ask, or if she notices you start to squirm. I will say by the end of the first session I was exhausted, probably a combination of the tattooing and the Benadryl. I was swollen too, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. You're not supposed to get your work wet for the first week, so Lauren gives you Vaseline or A&D to use as a moisture barrier for when you shower or if you HAVE to work out. She also gives you black tea bags to help the redness and swelling, and a coconut, honey, lavender oil that she makes to apply 3-5 times a day for the first few days to keep it moist and promote healing. Your tattoos will crust over, DO NOT PICK AT THEM. You just have to suck it up for a few days. I found the first 2 days to be the most uncomfortable, if you're worried about it you can get your doc to prescribe a low does pain killer. You can't wear makeup (specifically eye makeup, but you really want to keep your face as dry as possible, so it's easiest to just wear nothing and do a quick wash with a damp cloth, don't put your face under the shower!) until you're healed up, so mentally prepare yourself for that if you wear it every day. Trust me, it will be worth it. The followup rounds Lauren just worked on adjusting the shape, making the top eyeliner thicker at my request, and filling out the color. They took only about an hour each time, 20-30 minutes to numb, and 20-30 minutes to tattoo. Swelling and pain were also reduced. I am beyond thrilled with the results. I only wear mascara and blush most days, sometimes a quick sweep with eyeshadow. ...BB cream and powder if I'm having a break out. Makeup never takes me more than 2 minutes. I've used eyeliner 3 times since July 2016, for some heavy, smokey, eyes. It's a special occasion thing now. I've moved on to obsessing over skincare now. DO IT! **I'll add photos soon.

Expertise- Ana is very knowledgable about eyebrows and the microblading process and shows her skills during every part of the procedure. I think she especially shines during the consultation portion of the process. She listened to my concerns and requests about what I wanted and made solid recommendations about what brow shape work best for me. If you want the real deal, she's it. Her hair strokes were so good we couldn't figure out which hairs were real or not! Comfortable, welcoming environment- I had anticipated that the procedure would take about an hour and a half and during that time, I felt relaxed and comfortable in her studio. Ana walked me through the process and explained the products she was using and what she was doing along the way. I can't emphasize enough how much she listened to me and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. Brow game- I had a pretty simple makeup routine before I got my eyebrows microbladed, and since then, I am so pleased that my routine got faster and that my eyebrows look awesome every single time. I had been thinking about doing microblading for over a year now. Because I'm a perfectionist, I worried no one would be able to please me. If you are this person you need to see Ana! She is an amazing artist. She takes her time (doesnt rush you through), makes sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure and listens to your wants and desires. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing and clean. I am extremely happy with my results. My only regret is that I didn't contact her sooner. I was interested in microblading to fill some gaps in my eyebrows and create a more symmetrical shape. Before committing to an appointment, Jess went over the preparation, procedure, and aftercare in detail before my appointment so I knew exactly what would happen. Once booked, Jess asked for sample photos of brows that I liked as well as a few photos of my face, so we could talk through shaping options. I wanted to mostly stick to my natural brow shape and fill in some sections / lengthen the ends, so I sent over a few photos of myself with brows I liked in the past as a baseline in addition to inspiration pictures online. The appointment: The studio is a bit of a drive from north Austin but parking is ample and easy. The space is clean, bright, and welcoming. Jess made sure to send me a couple rounds of brow edits a day before so there were no surprises when she mapped out the brows on my face. Once they looked good to me, she started the numbing cream and then the microblading. The whole process took about two and a half hours and was relatively painless, no sensation at all until the last five minutes when the numbing cream wore off a little, but even then it just felt similar to threading. Jess was thorough with hygiene (I am a germaphobe so this was huge!!), using all new instruments and changing gloves whenever she needed to reach for something else. Jess checked in regularly after my session to check how the brows were healing and gave me tips for when they got a little itchy. It's been a month since my session and my brows are looking clean, full, and finally symmetrical! I couldn't love them more.

Every visit turns into a small negotiation. She'll pitch you every service and skin treatment under the sun even after you've politely declined, most times twice or three times before giving up. She doesn't take a hint, verbal or otherwise. She also tends to "forget" returning clients when it's time to charge. The first-time brow price is $15, and the upkeep price is $13. But if you don't remind her that you are a RETURNING CUSTOMER, she'll happily start from scratch on what you owe her. I shouldn't have to keep track of my own loyalty discount, but here we are. The many times I've visited, to pretend like she doesn't remember me is annoying. Get punch cards or SOMETHING so you'll stop doing this to customers. To be fair, she's not mean-spirited...she's just a relentless hustler. I get it, we're all trying to survive. But there's a fine line between being ambitious and making your clients feel like walking wallets. Your work is good enough to speak for itself. You don't need to chase every dollar. Let your service do the talking. Let clients come to YOU with their needs instead of you pushing off onto them what they should have. No one should feel obligated to pay for services they simply do not want and you pointing out flaws is not the answer. Sorry. Until I find someone as talented (and a little less pushy), I'll keep coming back... but girl, please, just do the work requested and let customers breathe. Four stars.
