Came in for lunch today with my fiance and baby daughter and left happy enough. Though it was as lively as a library in there at noon, the ambiance is cool, dark, modern and classy. Service was understandably timely and pleasant. I was a bit sad because the tiny little table chairs didn't even come close to fitting my ample frame (and it's not THAT wide, I'm just a big guy) - I had to sit on the edge of the seat. Why cause the folks over 200 lbs pain guys? Anyway - to the food. The pizza is legit - thin, tasty crust, great sauce, wood fired, good topping to sauce ratio, with quality ingredients all around. My fiance's house salad wasn't good. It had some weird burnt (near incinerated) chickpeas on it that didn't taste good, was missing the gorgonzola that was supposed to be on it, and the balsamic vinaigrette just tasted like plain oil. We also shared an appetizer of "Montrose dumplings", sort of a take on jalepeno poppers minus the cream cheese with provolone instead, wrapped in pizza dough and fried. They were just ok - small and unfortunately consisting of mostly dough. My daughter's ham and cheese sandwich with fries was tasty, but those fries... Wow. No joke, those are probably the best fries I've ever had. Uniquely spiral cut, kind of thick, with a crunchy exterior and fluffy, creamy interior, sprinkled with what appeared to be sea salt. Those fries make every other fry pale in comparison - I might come back just for those. We both found everything pretty darn expensive across the board for the somewhat meager portions - after a beer and a kid's meal, it was nearly a $60 lunch with no leftovers. The saving grace at Pi, despite the several shortcomings, was the overall food quality. A more realistic rating would be a 3.5, but I think it's closer to 4 than a 3. read more

I really enjoy their pizza, pi bites and salads. Tonight however the wait staff was beyond rude. This female server actually rolled her eyes at me when I had to get up and ask her for more water. We don't drink. We are in recovery and shouldn't be treated rudely because we don't drink alcohol. We'll pick a more friendly place to go next time and tell others the same. This is actually one of my favorite pizza places in Spokane. They have some really unusual specials that are usually very delicious. I've never been disappointed with anything here, from an interesting array of appetizers and pizzas. The decor is restful and cool, seating is generous and I've always found the service to be very friendly and efficient. Parking is great also. A nice well balanced wine list is also appreciated. I know they are a sister restaurant to the Flying Goat and I have to say I much prefer this one. Maybe the one time I actually was able to get a seat there (my book club had reserved a space), I found the pizzas somewhat dry and flavorless. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe they don't have to try so hard since it is obviously a see and be seen sort of hipster spot. Oops, my snarkiness just came out to play. The food is delicious! I love the fairview and the 30th off grand. Some of the best pizza ever. The Caesar salad is also top notch. I recently tried the fried avocado, YUM! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 are for two reasons. One time I came in there with a group of 5. Our server was awful! Luckily for us, her coworkers picked up her slack and saved the day. The second is because of the manager. He has an uncontrolled mess of hair and facial hair. I found one of his hairs in my pizza and that was the end of that for me. (I knew it was his because of the color and length) I understand hair happens and it sucks when it does, but when someone has hair like that then it should be managed. Perhaps a pony tail? A hat? Or just a good cutting. Nevertheless, I have returned. I just pray when I go in there he isn't working or anywhere near my food. read more

We came on a Friday night around 7:30 p.m. and were told we would have to wait 45 minutes. The wait was so worth it though. The beer and pizza here are phenomenal. We got the brussels sprouts appetizer and two pizzas, and I can't rave about the food enough. Affordable, flavorful, modern, and unique. The atmosphere is definitely hip. Republic Pi has quickly became our favorite restaurant in town. read more

Food and drinks are so incredible! I've tried every pi except for the one with an egg on it; which I will be trying my next visit! But anyways, everything here is amazing except the service! Super slow and kind of rude every time I come in which is a lot. Sucks when you refuse to stop coming and eating a restaurants food because it's great but service always sucks! The entire place smelled like moldy old mop water... aside from somebody maybe taking a short cut and not changing out the mop water before they opened up shop, the food was good. I wont judge solely off of first impressions... the pizza was tasty, the pi bites are crazy good and the beer/ wine selection has something for everyone. Amazing pizza.. first time here since they opened. Live a couple blocks, but been so busy every time we stop by. Had the wilson pizza and my only complaint is i couldnt taste the chicken over the strong garlic. And they should use red onions, not green. Partially for flavor, more for the looks on the pizza. Admittedly we had a large group (10 of us), but it was the oddest thing how our orders came to us: three people had their orders almost 15 minutes before anyone else got theirs, then they came out in similar fashion every ten minutes or so. Tuesday nights they had some of keg tap with beer for $2 and it was really good. I think they do something like that each Tuesday. We ordered a pizza, I think it was called the Republic and it was damn good. Nice thin crust that was both crunchy and chewy and just the right amount of charring which is important. Served a sandwich covered it what appeared to be pubic hair. When I politely expressed my concern, I was rudely told it was lemongrass. I've personally cooked with and eaten countless lemongrass dishes in my life before today and have never seen lemongrass come close to resembling what I was served. Completely lost my appetite. Advice to republic pi, even if it is lemongrass, why would you take the risk and serve a dish that looks like it was dropped on the men's room floor? :( I was so hungry when I came in. The service in the beginning was great! The Pi Bites were super yummy. HOWEVER... They make a very weak drink. When I told the waitress my concern (in a very respectful manner) she immediately got an attitude. She was rude from that minute on. I probably will not be back. O' Douls probably has more alcohol then their drinks. When you spend $70+ don't give patrons attitude. It ruins the customer experience. Spokane has so many options for dining and you are only doing a disservice to your establishment and place of employment. Nobody likes unprofessionalism or a cheapskate. And underpouring is just as bad as overpouring. It makes an establishment lose money. Train the waitstaff appropriately. That way your patrons aren't paying $6.00 for a glass of cranberry juice or other fillers. I rated 3 stars only for the PI Bites. But you can get better service at the Boiler Room and get the same "Pi Bites" there. Plus they always have top notch service. read more

Stopped in this wonderful restaurant on a whim with my wife for a late lunch. We sat in the bar and were greeted by a fantastic staff person named Jay. She knew the menu very well and we appreciated her candor and sense of humor. My wife ordered the brussel sprouts and 1/2 rosemary chicken sandwich. She's picky and loved both. The brussels were honestly the best I've ever eaten.I had the pork mezzaluna sandwich. Great sammie with the best parts being the perfectly cooked pork, the crunchy carrots, and the killer spicy vinaigrette. Overall a great experience. We will be back. First time here and certainly not the last. We arrived and told the wait would be 15 minutes. Since we did not have to return to work, not a problem. Finally seated and the waitress/hostess gave us a $10 off voucher - this was a thank you for waiting. We started off with the Brussel sprouts and it had the perfect ratio of sweet to salty (the customer at the next table questioned what we were eating and said he should have ordered this). I had the lunch combo of individual pizza with house salad. I love wood fire pizza and this did not disappoint. I enjoyed my salad that I even ate the tomatoes (nice & sweet) which is not typical of me. Ended my meal with an affogato which I absolutely loved. In addition the ambiance and decor was nice. A bit small and not many tables however it was worth the wait. Best of all, superb service from Kelsie. She made us feel welcomed, checked on us throughout the meal, topped off our soda pops and packed our leftovers for us. Will definitely return to this establishment read more

This is a new restaurant, apparently owned by the Flying Goat people from the north side of Spokane. Already it's jammed, and unfortunately they don't take reservations (unless you arrive with at least 8 people). That's enough to make me less than thrilled about going there, regardless of the quality of the food. Our wait was relatively short though, and we concluded we couldn't drive somewhere else and get served any sooner. The pizza was pretty good. It seemed like they were still trying to dial in the pizza oven temp, since the crusts & bottoms of both of our pizzas were charred black. If that's their preferred method of cooking pizza, then it's not a match for me. Toppings were tasty though, and somewhat original. One server tip they should pass on to their waitstaff: when a woman at the table specifically requests a menu to look at the wine list so she can order a bottle, you hand the menu to her, not a man at the table. And when she orders the wine, you bring it to her to taste, not a man at the table. read more

I didn't have any complaints about anything and i would have given the restaurant 5 stars except the pizzas and appetizers were sort of bland on flavor. Top notch pizza and service. We were in for the first time Saturday night and were beyond impressed. Literally have had pizza all over the country but nothing comes close to the #37 and Bluff on that menu, even the kids menu is great. The beer and wine selection was excellent as well. Our server Vanessa made great suggestions, was super knowledgeable and friendly, talked us through the beer and wine and was so amazing with our kids. We will be back many times over!! My wife and I went in last Tuesday night to meet friends at 7:30. Although there were tables open in the lounge and restaurant, they told us, with a snotty attitude, it would be 25 minutes before they could seat us. We went next door to eat. We went back at 9:50 for desert, and was told the second we walked in we close at 10! Can't serve you! Okay, just want desert. No, we are closing and shoed us away. Don't waste you time. Service sucked and didn't even get served. Hope the owner knows their people are turning folks away at the door to get out of there early. So sad Spokane, don't go! read more
