Just stopped into this place while visiting family. Store was pretty clean, and didn't smell like a typical reptile store. The animals looked healthy - but that's about as far as the positives go. Now for the rest of it. Theyre blatantly dishonest and attempting to scam people by saying the animals have traits that they, in fact, do not have. As a reptile breeder (of a lot of the same animals they're selling) I know for a FACT that the animals do not have the traits they're saying, and even if they did have the traits that advertised, they'd still be incredibly overpriced. The prices in this store are astronomical, and not only on their animals, but also on their plants, supplies, and feeders. Beyond that they're a cash only store, and they blame that on payment processor fees. Trouble with that is your markup on products MORE than compensate for the fees charged by visa, and even the ones charged by more expensive companies like American Express and Discover. Honest mistakes certainly happen in business. But these are no mistakes, they're simply dishonest. Buying livestock from MorphMarket would be cheaper (even with shipping costs) than buying from here, and you'll have the added benefit of knowing you're purchasing from a reputable breeder, and not a second hand scammer. They only get the one star for cleanliness. Overall, I will never return to this store, and I'd highly advise that you don't pay them an initial visit. Get animals from real breeders, and get supplies down the street from Petco. These people are swindlers. read more

Initially, I found Reptopia on MorphMarket, and they had a variety of PDF which I wanted to get. I was pleased to find out they were an hour away from the venue a friend of my wife was getting married at.... so while she was busy bridesmaiding, I trekked a bit South! The store is right off a main street, and very, very easy to find - I love the big mural on the side. Inside, it's clean, brightly lit, and odor free. They've got a good selection of amphibians and reptiles, though I get why they wouldn't want to call it "Herptopia." I was able to get the frogs I wanted (and a few more), and check out a lot of really cool other critters. The staff are pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would say I'd go back again, but it's a six hour flight each way. ;) They're cash only, though they have an ATM on site. This is a narrow margin industry and I absolutely get why. read more

They have many different beautiful reptiles especially the chameleons. My favorite! They have many other reptiles though. It is a one stop shop for all kinds of reptiles. My grandson loves reptiles and I have taken him twice and plan to go again. They are Inexpensive and It's more important to them to get the right fit for the reptiles than a huge price. read more

This is a really good place to go for your reptile needs, the employees are straight forward and answer your questions or are straight forward and let you know if they don't know instead of trying to make something up (petco employees). I like how (I think she's the owner) is so helpful and will actually get you roaches from the back if there aren't any in the quantity that you want in the front, she even brings mice out to me to see if they are the right size I want. There are a lot of beautiful reptiles in the back, and the selection from tank decor, to tanks, reptiles, and feeding supplies is great. I also like how they're open later in the afternoon it makes going there a lot easier. I would recommend going here if you have a question, need some insects, or rodents, or want to purchase a reptile to add to your family. read more

This is a terrific pet store with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was quite surprised to find this in Albany. They are so lucky to have this amazing shop! They have a lot of feeders and seem to work hard to ensure pets are well taken care off and have the right care. I appreciate that about them. Cash only, it's true, come prepared. If you have an interest in Reptiles, this is far and away, the best place in the area(I'm from Salem), a huge variety of reptiles, specifically specializing in chameleons, created geckos, and bearded dragons, while having a huge variety of amphibious or reptilian animals including snakes, other small geckos, leechee geckos, turtles, tortoises, and more. The most important thing is that the Owners have somewhere in the range of 20 years of experience breeding and keeping reptiles, they know their stuff and can answer most questions or point you to credible resources, which is important when it cones to reptiles, reptiles are not mammals, theybare cold blooded and each species has specific needs with heat, moisture, and habitat. There are far to many opinions floating around online that are often hard to verify, knowing where to get credible info is vitally important! The rest of the staff has a good working knowledge of reptiles and reptile care as well. Yes, it smells like a petting zoo. Why? It's not a large building and any small pet store carrying a lot of animals as this one does(go to Zany Zoo in Eugene or Critter Cabana in Willsonville or Newberg or Tropical Hut in Portland, they all virtually smell the same), I suppose if you're not used to going into small pet stores without huge ventilation shafts, it would surprise you, it shouldn't, it really shouldn't. A knowledgeable staff is vital. Again, reptiles are not like dogs and cats or even rats and hamsters, they are cold-blooded and require specific humidity, heatc ranges, special diets, and specific tank sizes to keep healthy and healthy in the long run. I have seen or met too many people who walked into chain pet stores and either left or was about to leave without knowing a darn thing about those animals, and that, to me, is totally unacceptable. I can buy a dog and with minimal knowledge and care, it can be pretty healthy(not optimal obviously), that is not true with reptiles in terms of knowledge, it is true with some retiles their care is not hard, leopard geckos for instance, very easy care, but there are still specific requirements to keep them healthy(a heat pad or heat tape is vital and an insect only diet), but others require very specialised knowledge, especially chameleons, leachees, leaf tail geckos, and some snakes, even corn snakes have specific things you need to do to ensure they're happy and handlable. Reptopia also has almost anything you'll ever need supply-wise, tanks, tons of different kinds of decorations, reptile medicine, misters, high quality food from food mixes to live insects, and numerous specialty products that are often otherwise hard to find. I buy my food for my fruit eating geckos here, and also numerous supplies as well, reasonable prices and I support anyone who trying to educate and help people understand reptiles and amphibians. Like I said, the knowledge and advice on getting resources is a lot more valuable than any supplies they sell even though their supplies are great, you're way underlying for the knowledge you can get here, that is priceless. They have reptile stuff and they are the only reptile place around. Things were neat enough on the shelves, but the place smelled like a dirty mobile home that they tried to cover up with potpourri. The woman at the counter was very nice but I felt like she was just trying to over compensate and distract us from the overall look/smell of the place. Most pet stores smell of bedding or just has that overall pet smell. Not here. Just an old dirty potpourri laden scent. Also, the place was small and had a dark/dingy feel. We went in for crickets. The bag was filled with lethargic looking feeders, several gnats and a few dead ones. Some were missing legs. I know their legs do have a tendency to pop easily but I got the overall impression that they weren't super healthy. We did receive far more than the crickets we paid for. We'll see how long they last compared to my usual source for crickets. Cash only establishment. Not a problem unless you plan to make a big purchase. read more

If you are genuinely looking for cared for by hand, and by heart reptiles, please do yourself a favor and go here. I have 2 bearded dragons my son and I purchased here in 2012 that are such genuine members of our family and a sulcata tortoise purchased in 2016. They have had solutions for illness, heat, light, tanks and nobody has SUPER worms, roaches, logs, etc etc like this store. Even special order items they have done for our growing Tortoise, that included delivery, hauling and obtaining for us at a great price. I have left our pets there for boarding while vacationing and my tanks came back even cleaner than when we left. I wish more stores really covered A-Z like they do and had the knowledge, know how and heart. Heck yeah Reptopia!! read more

Great store, not so great staff. Have had many problems with Heather. First, she sells sick animals and then when you contact her two weeks later saying you can't get it into the vet due to COVID and your worried about the health and well being of the reptile she says your only choice is to surrender it, but they will only take it if you surrender with an enclosure which you just paid well over 500$ for all brand new equipment from their shop. Veronica on the other hand was very understanding and instantly said yes to taking the animal back in. That same animal was given medication and put right back on the shelf for someone else to purchase. Secondly, heather likes to post on her Snapchat story bashing those who do surrender animals. If someone is surrendering a reptile because they can't afford it, don't have the time, or because their own health has declined and caused them to be unfit in caring for them; they should not be bashed. They could have easily given it away on Facebook, Craigslist, or even just neglected it and let it die. But instead they chose to bring it to reptopia because they wanted them to be properly cared for and rehomed. Her posting on her Snapchat bashing and cussing about it is highly disrespectful, and unprofessional. As someone who personally surrendered a reptile because my health was unfit to care for it, I was completely heart wrenched to later see heather posting pictures of said reptile with a caption that read "fucking people, don't get reptiles if you're can't care for them, I fucking hate people" all I did was love and care for my reptile, my health dramatically took a turn for the worse but I still wanted him to get proper care, something I could no longer give him. Being bashed and humiliated like that makes me never want to return to the store or even recommend friends there. This place is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, the animals are all healthy and we love getting our cockroaches there. My only complaint are the hours make it really hard to get to.
