I've taken my small dog here multiple times before without major issues, but my most recent experience was incredibly frustrating and will likely be my last visit. My dog is only about 5-6 pounds and very easy to groom. In the past, his wash and trim has taken about an hour. When I dropped him off this time, I was immediately told the price would be higher than usual because of trimming around his neck. That was surprising because I've had the same basic trim done there before without any additional charge. I explained that I only wanted a very small amount trimmed -- just his belly, around his butt, and a little on his neck. When asked if I wanted anything else trimmed (like his ears), I specifically said no. Two hours later I called to check on him since it normally takes about an hour. No one answered the phone. Since it was getting close to my son's bedtime, I drove over assuming they were finishing up. When I arrived, they told me they would need another two hours. That simply wasn't possible for me, so I asked to just take him home. They told me he had already been washed and was still in the back wet. They offered to quickly blow dry him and cut his nails and asked if I could bring him back another day to finish the trim. I agreed. While I was there, when I mentioned I had called earlier and no one answered, the employee's reaction made me feel like I had done something wrong just by checking on my dog. I returned on the scheduled day, dropped him off, drove home, and 25 minutes later they called to say he was finished. This was incredibly confusing considering the previous visit supposedly required several hours. I had literally just gotten home and had to work around my baby's nap schedule, so I told them I'd come back after my son woke up. When I picked up my dog, his haircut was much shorter than what I had asked for, including his ears, which I specifically said not to cut. The final frustration happened when I got him into my car. It was obvious they hadn't blown the loose hair off of him after grooming. My freshly cleaned car is now completely covered in short, freshly cut hair embedded in the carpet and seats, which is extremely difficult to remove. Between the inconsistent timing, poor communication, not following grooming instructions, and the condition my dog was returned in, the whole experience felt very unprofessional. The PetSmart groomers in Clackamas and Tualatin are excellent, but I'm hesitant to return to the one here in Corvallis. The first time I took my curly dog here for Bath and Brush, the groomer couldn't finish her because she pooped and asked us to return the next day. Okay, poop happens. Yesterday I took her in for another Bath and Brush. It was supposed to take 2-3 hours. After 1 1/2 hours they called and said she was ready. However they said they were unable to dry or brush her feet. They told me she "gatored" on them, rolling over like a gator. Huh? (This has never happened before). After paying full price for a Bath and Brush, my dog came out with still-wet, unbrushed feet and a minimal brushing of the rest of her coat. read more

I used to work for PetSmart and this store has it dialed in! The customer service is exceptional. The store is always clean and the pets in their care are treated appropriately. The grooming salon is amazing. All of the groomers are friendly and helpful. They always do nail grinds without complaint, no matter how busy they are. My dog is treated well when she's here too. I only wish they had a hotel. read more

Never ever again!!!! They cut all my dogs beautiful long hair off. I was very specific about just cleaning up her paws, face, ears and privacy area. They very unapologetic. I traveled from Lincoln City and was wanting to buy a guinea pig. No one came to help and other I walked right passed us and didn't ask if we needed help. My husband went up to a employee to ask for help and she SAID YOU CANT HOLD THEM. I didn't ask that I wanted to see the animal to pick one to be a buddy from my other guinea pig 5hat I nought 4 m9nrhs ago from them. Took my dog in for a flea treatment bath, a nail trim and to get blown for her coat as she is a Husky. I should of left the second i got there with her as she was very skittish towards the employees. She has had treatments like such done elsewhere but i thought I'd try here. I was told it would be 2 hours, i got a call after one hour because they said my dog wouldn't let them clip her nails or dry her and that they can't finish her. I picked up my wet dog, coat looks somehow worse than when i dropped her off and 3/4 paws where clipped but not gridded like i asked. They were going to give a 10% discount at first until i said i wouldn't pay for a half done treatment. Won't recommend to others and just confused as to what they actually did as now I know to just do it myself at home. read more

I am new to the area. I have used PetSmart in other areas, and have been happy, so I decided to go into get my 100# lab bathed and brushed. Key word being brushed. If you know anything about labs, they are prolific shedders and I was going to visit friends and didn't want too much of a mess while there. I paid the extra $$ as I have done in the past, but was not prepared for the excellent job that my groomer had done. My boy was "defurminated" so well, he hardly shed all week. I used to be able to run my hand down his back, even after walking out of some groomers and get a handful of fur. If you have a shedder...THIS is the place to go. Thank you, PetSmart. I tagged along with a relative to look at setting up everything you need to get a Beta fish, from the size of tank and all the extra's needed. None of us had a clue.....we were asked by an associate named Septembre if we needed any help. Well, we had so many questions and Septembre answered them all, along with recommendations as she herself has Beta fish. Septembre was/is very knowledgeable in the fish area, the only area we were interested in. She was friendly, honest and did not seemed rushed or annoyed at our hundreds of questions being asked. The grand opening is April 11th, where they will be giving out gift cards and prizes. Wasn't overly impressed by aquatic staff. Typically petsmart employees ask what size tank you have before bagging your fish, but none of the employees asked me or any others getting fish what size tanks they have. For the well-being of the fish, it is nice to have knowledgeable staff ensure that customers are not buying ill-fitting fish for their tanks. Everything else was great. I don't particularly like going here but it's quick and usually has what I need. Recently they have had cats and kittens in the little windows for adoption. Yesterday we went in and there was one adult cat up for adoption and we stood there and played with it through the glass. We realized that the cat has worms because there was one that was alive on its butt.. so when we checked out I mentioned it to the lady named Julia at the checkout. She couldn't care less.. she just said ok... like nothing.. no concern or explanation.. I've heard on multiple occasions to not shop here and definitely never adopt from here.. after seeing the lack of caring from the employees in regards to the health of the animals that are up for adoption in the store.. I will not be going back.. I would rather spend double the amount at animal crackers than come back here. read more

This is my go to place for anything pet related. On occasion we have gone to PetCo, but there really isn't any comparison. PetSmart is the best pet store in Corvallis. Being that we come in about once a week and have adopted an animal here, you could say that we are regulars. Pet Supplies: We come here often for cat food, litter and lizard stuff. So I can only comment on those sections. We buy crickets and meal worms for our leopard gecko. The crickets are always healthy looking and fresh. The cricket keepers are clean. They always offer to put food in the bag for the crickets. A nice gesture and I usually take them up on the offer if I don't plan on going straight home with them. The meal worms are healthy and plump. They always have what I need in stock at a reasonable price and their selection is big. Their collars and toys seem a bit overpriced for what they are but generally we don't buy that stuff often and it's something that can wait until I get home to price shop online. Pet Adoption: We adopted a kitten here a few months back. They seemed to take their adoption process seriously, which I appreciated. The transaction was smooth and they were very accommodating. They helped us pick out what we needed and let us know the best food to get for his age. We took him home and he couldn't be more loved! He was relatively healthy but came with ear mites and fleas. A quick trip to the vet took care of the ear mites, but the fleas were more problematic. He originally came from an Oregon shelter and paperwork indicated that he transferred from another shelter in California. He was only in the store for 2 days before we spotted him and snatched him up! Given his short time at the store, the fact that he was only about 2 months old when we got him, it seemed understandable that he might have a few bugs from his various cage mates and being passed around from shelter to shelter. Customer Service: Every time I come in I am greeted by the cashier. There is usually at least one other employee besides the cashier that greets me or asks if I need help with anything. Every time. Employees' attitudes range from overly friendly to neutral. I've never experienced a rude or cranky/stressed employee. Helpfulness of the employees is above and beyond what one would expect. The employees seem to care about their jobs. I've never had to wait more than a minute for someone to assist me with getting meal worms from the back or to bag up crickets for me. I am often interrupting whatever thing they are doing at that moment (usually cleaning the fish tanks) and they never seem put out about having to stop their work to help me. Exceptional Customer Service Story: As I mentioned before, our newly adopted kitty came with fleas. A few months later and we are still battling them. He passed them on to our other cat and we were finding flea dirt in their bedding. They are both inside cats so we thought it would be relatively easy to get rid of them. We did everything short of medication. We combed them and vacuumed the house daily, gave them baths and washed their bedding weekly. It wasn't working. Finally we decided to bite the bullet and see what PetSmart had for flea medication. Megan (a manager) asked us if we needed help. She answered all of our questions and gave us a recommendation based on her own experience. We had a very thorough conversation about the proper way to bathe the cats and offered a suggestion that we had not heard before. At some point during the conversation we mentioned that we adopted our cat here and he actually came with the fleas we were dealing with. We weren't complaining. We just sort of casually mentioned it. She clearly felt bad about it. As a result, she went above and beyond to help us on the cost of the medication! I was floored by not only our sincere interaction with Megan but also her generosity. TLDR: Amazing customer service and a clean store that always has what you need in stock. read more

I was so pleased to find out that pet smart had cat groomers. Unfortunately they do not give haircuts to cats on anti anxiety medication. Their reasoning is that they don't have any way to monitor breathing and heart rate in the animals that they're caring for. I believe they sincerely care about the well-being of the animals and I support them being cautious. however, when I was describing my small Persian kitty on the phone... Her lack of teeth and her getting anti-anxiety meds with any care. I was not warned about this policy, I was just told to remember to bring in her proof of rabies vaccine. She takes Gabapentin before check ups/procedures...some animals take it on a daily basis. I tried to explain that she has never required heart monitoring for this medication and that it is taken commonly, and I was offered (to buy) an herbal chew...for a toothless cat. Nobody owned up to being the person I talked to on the phone and because I used the online booking two weeks after my initial conversation I couldn't remember the name of the lady I had spoken to. It was an annoying experience, and I still don't understand why they would not want a pet to be as calm as possible (calm...not asleep). Pushing an unregulated herbal chew over what her vet had prescribed seems irresponsible. read more

I took my standard poodle in to be groomed. Yes, he was past due on grooming because of Covid 19 restrictions. I should also mention he is a puppy and has only been groomed a couple of times. Yvonne was his groomer. She is brand new to grooming and just finished her classes. But still. She did not clip under his tail, his genital area or his feet. Every time he pooped, poopballs formed under his tail. I almost brought him back to PetSmart for touch-ups but opted to take him back to his regular groomer since her business was back open. Should a senior groomer have checked Yvonne's work before charging me $70 and sending this poor dog out the door. Not a great experience for me or the dog. I won't back. read more

I will always prefer PetSmart over Petco just for the fact that they always have sales on their products. This location is no different. The only downside I didn't like about was that everything seemed really crammed in and tight space with low lighting. After a while it felt like being in a maze or something. Just like with Petco, I wish I could give two reviews based on very different experiences I've had here depending on the department. Grooming was kind of a mess, and I had come to them after a horrible experience at Petco and had told them as much. They promised to help me overcome that bad experience, and when someone didn't show up for work the next day to groom my dog, instead of calling me and saying hey, this is what happened, what would you like to do? They brought someone else in who barely trimmed his nails and that was what I really needed done. He's a lab, he really didn't need the bath, his coat is low-maintenance. They did offer me to come back in and get them trimmed for free, so that was nice. So they could work on communication--I understand crap happens and people flake out, but please communicate with your customers and they will be happy even when things don't go as planned (some people can never be pleased, but most can!) On the flip-side, when I brought my cat in for a walk-in nail trim, they were awesome, so I know it can be done well! As for the other departments, I don't really have any complaints, everything's been pretty satisfying. I wish the lights were a little brighter, and I have chronic migraines and post-concussive disorder--usually the lights everywhere are too bright, but I'm struggling to see writing on products, so please turn them up or switch the type you're using. I am pretty satisfied with 99% of my trips to Petsmart, I was glad to see that they were coming to town last year. I can buy larger bags of my two kitties cat food here which is great since Petco only sells the smaller bags for a far heftier price. Yes there is quite a price difference between these two stores. The employees always greet me when I come in and they love seeing my kitties, everyone asks to pet them, and if we need help finding anything; very customer friendly and helpful. The only critique I have about here is that I bought fish, for my son, and had asked what I could use to keep algae down in the tank, I was told a moss ball would attract it and keep it down; this was not the case by far. I did change 10% of the tank weekly, I changed the filters regularly, squigied, scraped, etc to no avail the algae built up on the fake decor, on the tank so bad, so quickly. I soon was replacing 50-80% of the water on a weekly basis while scrubbing the rocks and plants with scalding water and soap; it would build back up. So I went into do my own research, quick google, to discover that PLANTS, not a moss ball would help the tank by using the lights at the top in competition with it building up elsewhere. So I put some plants in there after cleaning it out again, then I also bought some drops, in addition replacing 10% weekly, 50% monthly, squegging, filters, etc. I am happy to report that this issue is now under control and the tank is crystal clear, wonderful now my little man can see his fish and not something that looks like a scene at the coastal bay front! That is my only critique, the advice I was given was not so swell, so you may want to skip and contact experts on your pet questions, such as a professional aquatic/aquarium person, or a veterinarian, etc. read more

The entire staff of groomers were friendly and even in the midst of a busy day they all greeted me, smiled and said bye when I was leaving. It was a really pleasurable experience. The sales clerks here are friendly, helpful, and nice. But the groomers at this PetSmart​ are horrible. They have turned away my 16-year-old​ mini poodle mix multiples times now. They love to use corporate to cover their lazy work ethic by saying they aren't allowed to accept certain pets with certain conditions. They are snappy and will kick you out if they do not want to groom your pet. I adopted a dog from the humane society and want to get her cleaned up. That is what groomers do, they groom dogs. Sorry my dog is not perfect. Sorry I am trying to give a senior dog a better life. The groomers here do not care about the animals. They just care about how difficult the job is. One girl was so helpful and nice and then the guy with the shaved head and facial hair asked me questions that when i answered incorrectly he corrected me. Why do that? Why ask me questions that he already knows the answers to and i dont? Thats why i was there, to get information and help and answers. He was almost purposefully trying to make my purchase difficult for me when there was a line already. I didnt appreciate it at all. He was mean and shouldnt do that. read more

The groomers are awesome. They are knowledgeable and very good with the animals. Today was the third time we have used them for grooming our dog. She hates the dryer. I called to check on her and the staff said they were drying her in short periods of time so she would not be upset. Great staff and they do a great job. read more
