Maybe at some point I will review them to say why, but for now, let's focus on why I like this place. Pros: ===================== -This is a fish store, not a pet store. You won't find dog poop bags as one reviewer was searching for, nor will you find lizards, or kittens... you get the point. You will get an owner that knows something about fish. -Because he knows about fish, you can trust his advice and input. -If you want a particular plant, or fish, he can probably get it for you. And, unlike one of his competitors, he actually follows through. -His prices are very, very fair for his stock. The importance of this in a market increasingly dominated by big box pet store cannot be overstated. -I have never gotten a fish disease from his store. I cannot say the same for either big box chain. Cons: ====================== -This is a small owner/operator business. He has faced a lot of challenges since COVID and his stock is not what it once was. But this could change if hobbyists like me stick with the fish store in our community. -There is one person, the owner, doing almost everything on the at least 50 tanks he has running. Yes, I do see an occasional dead fish, but I can say the same of pretty much every fish store I have been in. And they all had multiple employees. In the final analysis this is my go to fish store. First time I called was Feb 6th. I ask if he has a 6" goldfish and he said he would check with his buddy that holds fish for him and that he would call me back later that night. I didn't get called back for 2 days. When he did call back, it was only to check what size I wanted again and to be told that he should have it and that he would bring it to me in a couple of days. He never called. He never showed. I tried to call him and he never picked up. I left messages. I finally left one saying that since I have tried multiple times that it would be my last time trying and I never got a call back. Today I thought I would give it one more shot. I tried to set an appointment to meet him at his shop today and he refused. He wanted me to call him back later this afternoon to see what he was doing and to meet up (maybe). I said that I really wanted to set an appointment with him right then and there since I have been trying to buy from him for over a month and still haven't been able to since he keeps not calling me back. At first he apologized, but then he said, well I have been taking care of my sick aunt too. I said, not for over a month. He then said he wouldn't be doing business with me since I sounded sarcastic and that I could take his spot with his aunt instead before hanging up on me. First off, you don't make your personal problems your business failure excuses, especially to customers you have repeatedly failed. Second, you make a damn appointment when your website says by appointment only. Third, you keep your word once you make a commitment. If you are still wondering if you want to do business with this man, the answer is no! Run away! Pick a person who keeps their appointments and word. Pick someone who runs an actual business with real store hours and real appointment times. Even Comcast keeps their word about appointments better than this dude!
