They weren't home they kept pounding though. I asked if there were doing door to door or something because they are disturbing the whole complex. They said no nicely so I let it be and left. But these a**h***s littered their bullshit ass flyers all over the hole complex.... legit hung the door hanger flyers on the trees on the flowers and just all over the ground. Had a terrible experience with Rent-A-Center. Ordered furniture for rental through website, delivery specified as 1-3 days, and they charged my credit card immediately. The Van Nuys, CA store was supposed to call to schedule the delivery. They did not. I called them and the person I spoke to told me they didn't have the sofa. He tried to pawn off whatever else they had in stock at the time instead. I told him to just can cancel it and refund the money. He said he would do that and we would see the refund in 3.5 days. I also emailed Rent-A-Center and called them asking for confirmation. They said they would escalate the situation to a manager and send confirmation. They did not do that either. Then, amazingly, I got a text from Rent-A-Center today telling me my renewal fee is due. WTF?! I confirmed they never issued the refund and called them. A nice and seemingly competent person named Edwin at the Van Nuys store processed the refund and apologized. He texted me confirmation as well. I had recently found myself in an abusive relationship and had just left and financially, I had been strained for a bit. If I could rate NO stars I would!!! I went in thursday 1/23/20 with a flyer sent to my home(some promotional offer for a penny down for 1 month) I've purchased two previous times with rent a center, once at this specific location & the other at their canoga park location. BUT BACK to my main point. I went in and a representative by the name of Diana, approached my husband and I. Once I decided which appliance I was going to purchase Diana assisted us with the application process. I filled out the required forms BUT purposely left mine and my husbands employment address and phone # BLANK, AS WELL as my landlord's phone #. I was ADAMANT with her and the other fool (aka the store manager) sitting next to her, That I didn't want ANYONE for ANY reason calling my work or landlord. I also told them I could provide check stubs AND my leasing contract in order for them to verify that information. Neither one of them said it was nor wasn't necessary. While going over the contract Diana, asked for the Location of my work... which I provided to her, HAD I known she was going to GOOGLE my jobs phone # I would have never given her that info. BUT since I vehemently expressed how I did not authorize them to call. I assumed (bad call on my part) she would respect my verbal AND written request! Once I went over the contract I checked the box that DENIED them authorization to contact my place of employment. I electronically signed then set the the time and date for delivery. Fast forward 6 days... the day of delivery. I receive a phone call from rent a center, missed the call, but called them back shortly after. A Mr. Alex (assistant store manager according to him) answered my call and told me they were having trouble verifying my employment and wanted to know if there was another number they could call to directly speak with my manager.... AT THIS POINT I WAS LIVID. I asked him who had called and WHY? "Diana was the one who is handling your application, I don't know anything, I can have her call you back" Once I got on the phone with DIANA ( the most UNPROFESSIONAL rent a center representative EVER) she tried to tell me that since I didn't want to provide them with copies of my pay-stubs she had to call my work to verify employment! I quickly corrected her almost IDIOTIC response and REMINDED her of how I adamantly expressed I did not want my work called and how I could give them pay-stubs and my leasing agreement.... She then says "oh well, I remember you mentioning you didn't want us to bother your landlord but I don't remember you saying we couldn't call your work" UMMMM WHAT?!? HOW CONVENIENT FOR YOU MISS DIANA! It was that this point that I told her to cancel everything and that I wanted to speak to her boss ASAP! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING AT THIS LOCATION THEY HIRE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE who probably don't even have a GED!! I'm glad this happened I ended up opening credit at Lowes was approved for 5k 0% interest for 12 months and had my washer dyer delivered SAME DAY!! This place is horrible from their poor customer service to getting orders wrong and delivering the wrong items. I ordered 5 items they only got 1 right and 2 of the wrong items are sitting in my house waiting to be replaced. I ordered these items over 2 months ago and as of writing this review my order has not been fulfilled and I'm making payments on items I did not order. PLEASE AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS. The staff at this location is an embarrassment to people who actually work it seems like everyone is slacking I can't get payment information from them because their stupid system is flawed one person can't see what the previous person did it's a complete SHIT show there! I found Rent-A-Center to be a poorly run operation. Day late delivery and arrived after my surgery. Excuse was that all the power recliners were broken. Not good! Took three days to return-I had to stay home and wait. Would not adjust rental agreement after day late delivery. Requested copy of rental agreement three time and it was never send after manager agreed to send it. I returned the recliner early and asked, in return for my lost time waiting for pick-up and late delivery, to roll over agreement for my upcoming surgery. After all their mistakes, no consideration given. I cannot recommend this company. As things tend to start at the top, I have to believe that management is setting the tone. My upstairs neighbor recently had some furniture delivered by this awful company. Be aware they have no regard for your building's property or safety. My two small children were abruptly awoken to the sound of loud consecutive metallic slamming. One of my children ran to me frightened to the thought of gun fire. I bet that anything but a good attitude were to be exercised by anyone the loud slamming would have not occurred. The task they did was definitely made with a bad attitude as if these mindless people had something deep inside their rear orifices. I later looked outside my window and they had also blocked the fire hydrant. What if there were a fire, they completely blocked the access to the fire life and safety necessity and the location that is designated for fire trucks in the red. Also when they left they left our building's door opened to any person to enter private property, I have small children. The two men who delivered the furniture are completely mindless and brutes. These people this company need to be completely removed because they do not know how to deliver peacefully on top of that they left all doors open and anybody could come in and destroy and take stuff these people are very rude they parked in front of the fire hydrant these people need to be removed completely. A year and 1 week ago I went to Rent a center to buy a tv. The girl says it was a new tv so I was planning to pay it off immediately and I did after making 1 payment when I took tv home and setup it appeared to be new but no manual in box . I went back few days later and they gave me a manual they had for my tv. about 2 weeks ago my tv started having issues so I called Samsung and I needed my receipt so I go back to tent a center and they print out my receipt and I come and I noticed on my receipt it says used. They lied to me and sold me a tv that was not new and obviously had problems now it 1year and 2wks since I purchased it and Samsung says I have to pay $200 service call for them to come fix my tv. this is not fair when I purchased tv I was told it was brand new and it's not. they scammed me and now it makes sense why no manual was in the box. they are liars and now I'm out $500 dollars for a used tv. I will give it a 3 star because the laptop is good, however there customer service needs help. I can understand some policy's but during this time that we're going through a pandemic no one should be forced to go in to make a payment right now. My husband went in to pay off our account and was never provided a receipt showing proof we paid it off. Okay, this is not a complaint about their "products" per se, but more about their workers....drivers/movers or whatever their title is, but a neighbor recently had a "RAC" delivery, the problem is, we are next door neighbors and while the delivery was NOT for me, or even anyone in my apartment complex, the RAC truck was blocking MY driveway, impeding my leaving my property. I politely asked the driver/mover to move their truck as it was an emergency and I needed to leave immediately, and he had the gall and audacity to tell me that they were almost finished and it would only be a few more minutes! I'm absolutely gobsmacked, that he would have the temerity to "make" me wait, when I asked politely for him to move his truck, as he was 100% blocking "my" driveway and I could not pull around in any fashion, and I had to leave immediately. I actually asked him twice....the second time he simply ignored me, and continued to move furniture. The neighbors who were getting the delivery are absolute idiots, so I didn't expect them to intervene in any way, but I expected "better" from a company and their representatives. The truck had no back license plate or other identifying information, and when I asked the driver/mover his name (there were two of them, I spoke to the "driver"), he ignored me, and only after another 10 minutes(!!!) as I'm waiting in my car to leave...did he tear out....and when I attempted to follow them to get a license plate or truck number, he literally "ran away" and drove down a busy street to make a hazardous left turn on a side street, and without chasing him like a crazy person, I couldn't get any additional information on the truck. I tried to contact the local RAC store, but got no where, as I was told without the name of the driver/mover or truck license there was nothing they could do. Not even a "generic" apology! I've been a customer for about 2 years now. Customer service is terrible!!!! They charge an arm and a leg with interest. I was almost done paying off my balance and I know I was behind on my payments but I spoke on the phone with the manager to make arrangements. I made a payment over the phone with him then he told me to come in and make another payment the following week. I was out of town and couldn't make it in, the next day I check my bank account and what do I see....???? A payment pending for them without my authorization!!!!!!! Of course I called them, they claim I signed up for automatic payments, and coincidentally the manager was is never in when I want to speak to him. This place is awful. Not only is their showroom full of dirty, used couches and broken furniture, but their business hours suck (They are closed on Sunday) and the customer service is terrible. I went in on a Monday and I inquired about 2 items. The salespeople told me that what I wanted was not available new and that they would check with other stores or special order it for me. SAVE YOURSELF & DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Had a horrible experience with this store. Not once, not twice. Had a delivery scheduled for Friday between 4-6. Never got a courtesy call that they were behind schedule so 5:50 I'm calling to find out where they are & Diana tells me oh I don't know let me call them & I'll call you back. That never happens. So 6:30 I'm calling again, Diana tells me they are running late and will be here closer to 8. Well 8 comes and nothing. So again me the customer call them again, Diana then tells me I don't know what's going on the drivers are not answering my calls. SMH. At this point I tell her I do not care what time they show up AS LONG AS THEY SHOW UP. She assures me not to worry that I will have my items delivered no matter the time. Well, I had a feeling these drivers would pull a coward move & call me once they were here & take off the minute I didn't answer. Well, SURE ENOUGH. I had a missed call and returned it 2 minutes later & the punk Alex had the audacity to tell me oh I called you & you didn't answer plus we asked your neighbor then we left! I lost my cool. I had every right too at 11 PM & then Alex's true professionalism came out! He lost his cool on me too. Hah!! He then proceeded to threaten me & say I'm canceling your order and hung up on me! this was by far the worst place to shop for furniture I would highly recommend not to go here. They are terrible at customer service I walk in 4 employees everyone off doing their own thing no one approached me to even ask me if I had questions on any product. that being said I had to approach a person to ask for help when it should have been offered the second I walked in the door. there were no other customers but me and no one helped me.... the best part is after all that bad customer service they send me damaged product my couch has a cut and hole in the leather when they had told me the couches are brand new I been waiting for over 2 months now for a replacement no one has bothered to call me and update me as to when my couches would be sent. all the people here don't know how to do their jobs. its a fuckin work place not a playground.... So my experience with this business is a bit uneasy. I am satisfied with the merchandise I took home and the whole pay as you go, buuuut. . . . . I did notice when I was making my payments my balance was not decreasing it was rising, and mind you I do make my payments on time along with extra on top of my weekly payment. So I caught on to it and let them know about it, they constantly say it the new system they have that keep messing up (a system that cannot subtract correctly!) Well I though maybe once or twice I would shake it off, but by the third, and forth time. I'm pretty aggravated at this point. And its not only a couple of dollars they tried to increase my account balance, it was twice I caught over $100.00 my balance increased. So now I definitely ask for my current balance and a receipt for my payment I had made that day, which I believe they should provide with out the customer asking for it. Well, besides all that crook b.s I now supposedly have a "suspense" balance of $166.00 (meaning a credit balance) that I was not aware of. Which makes no sense because I make all my payment towards my merchandize, but I am not able to take my credited balance and pay my device because their "system" is not letting them. Right!!! Very unprofessional, and unorganized business. I really recommend that you always know and keep track of the balance of your account as you pay. Because they will increase it, not let you know and they will let you walk out the door obliviously being ripped off by several dollars. read more
