A cute hole in the wall spot for ramen in silver spring/Wheaton area. It's in a tiny strip mall so limited parking but there is street parking. The location is tiny with a tiny staff but they get the job done. Service was fast and friendly. They make Sapporo style ramen with a few other styles as specials, the menu is as expected focused on ramen which is nice. You come here for ramen, they have a couple appetizers but don't expect too many options other than ramen. The ramen here was solid, very rich flavorful broth that definitely has the right combo of chewy noodles and toppings. Toppings fresh and the pork well seasoned. Prices seemed reasonable for the portions you get. This place definitely satisfied my ramen craving so will definitely be back and would recommend.

Chanpon Ramen! A seafood delight!

I had the pleasure of lunching here with my son recently. His treat! This is another neighborhood restaurant within walking distance. A colleague told me about this place and how it was a favorite go-to restaurant for her and her son for many years. We both enjoyed the appetizer, homemade Gyoza - savory pork dumplings. It was difficult to decide what to order, everything looked delicious, so we started at the top of the ramen menu (because this place WILL be re-visited many more times!), and devoured our Chanpon Ramen bowls(pictured). There was a side of steamed rice, as well (also not pictured). Going on a Sunday around 1pm worked out. It wasn't crowded when we arrived, but the tables were full by the time we left. Definitely going back!

I have to say I was taken aback when we walked in and there were lots of tables on a Sunday at 2 o'clock and the waiter said please sit at a two top. I told him I'd like to order a lot of things and need more space and then wanted to experience the soup as I was told. It was very good. Our other waiter was very pleasant provided suggestions we ended up getting a Ramen soup, edamame, pork dumplings, and beansprouts salad. Everything was delicious. large portion sizes. I decided to order the pork ribs for seven dollars and have to say they were very disappointing. No meat on the bone at all . The decor in the restaurant is sparse tables and chairs. The ramen is good.

My family has been coming to Ren's Ramen for almost as long as my memories extend -- even since before they were at this location in Wheaton. It's been so long that I've evolved from the light broth of the shoyu ramen all the way to the deeply rich miso ramen. This place is a real gem and it's set my bar for ramen sky-high. The squiggly noodles are imported from Japan and they're so chewy. It's different from the straighter Kyushu noodles and some people might find they like these even more. Their gyoza is also excellent and sometimes they might even have fried rice available! Dunno if it's a "secret menu" item nowadays haha. My whole family spends a year salivating about it (which might actually be even better than their ramen) and then hoping and praying that our near-hourlong trip is not for naught. There's a couple of spots in the lot (don't stray too far to the left to avoid getting towed, though) and plentiful street parking that's free on Sundays and metered otherwise.

There are too many vegetables; the taste is a bit bitter, which actually detracts from the aroma of the soup.

A little gem hole in the wall Sapporo style ramen joint. Lots to love in the food. The broth is so so tasty; had the Stamina Ramen which blends 2 different broths. I added extra tofu and bamboo. Also tried a vinegary bean sprout salad and an alcohol free Amazake, a sweet rice 'sake'. Ramen was amazing. However, I added extra noodles. It does not come with a lot of other ingredients so I feel like you will want to add in stuff to be full. On the downside, parking can be problematic and if the lot is full you have to find street parking. Also the ambience is pretty basic and charmless. But hey, you're here for the ramen. A meal for 2 cost around $50 plus tip.

I got their Misp Tan Tan (spicy sesame oil is the not-so secret ingredient in this one). I usually can't finish ramen and have to take the rest to-go, but this one was so delicious I really couldn't stop!! I haven't had ramen with such a strong sesame taste before and it was 10/10, I can't recommend it enough. Service was also super friendly and SO FAST!! We super appreciated that. Very casual eatery and great food.

Great ramen, but I wish there was a bit more broth.

I stopped by for an easy, breezy lunch, and I thought everything was great. Ren definitely is a place that I more than likely will visit again. While my ramen (I forgot which one I ordered) was absolutely delicious, I thought the amount of broth was a bit on the low side. Although the service was a bit cold, it was efficient. Since this was my first visit to Ren's Ramen, I did not consider that it might be one of those in and out spots. While the food is delicious, the ambiance of the restaurant has a no frills vibe, which is perfectly fine. Fortunately, I did not drive to the restaurant because the parking lot (which is shared by two other Asian restaurants) is really small. However, I am not 100% sure if there is additional parking outside the main parking lot.

As several friends recommended this place, I came here with several friends on Saturday for lunch. The place is small, but it wasn't that crowded. Service was pretty efficient and friendly. They specifically feature "Sapporo" style ramen, which is usually made with rich pork bone broth and miso. The portion of the ramen is pretty big, so people with big appetites would be satisfied without adding extra noodles. The noodle was medium thick and a bit wavy with decent chewiness. One thing I soon noticed in my tsuke-men (dipping noodle) was that noodle was pretty short (like 4-5 inches), so it was hard to pick it up, dip, and slurp noodles as a Japanese. The miso dipping soup was warm, flavorful, and tasty. The topping was average as it only came with one slice of pork, some veggie, and no egg. Gyoza was pretty small and decent but extremely hot so be careful. Overall, this place offers very authentic ramen, unlike upscale/growing ramen chain restaurants. Parking lot is pretty small, but plenty of street parking around.

Ask the Community - Ren's Ramen

Do they still offer tsukemen?

How are the vegetarian options? Does the broth still taste good? Has anyone ever tried asking for a menu modification, say having the pork left out of the Stamina ramen? Thanks!

There are two vegetarian soups available, my friend had it and loved it. There are additional toppings you can put in like pork, egg, seaweed, bamboo, etc. I'm not sure if they can leave the pork out of the Stamina ramen, I never asked. Hope this…

I got the Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen and a sweet potato (sushi) roll. Child #1 got a vegetable roll and the vegetarian ramen (the only vegetarian option I think I saw for ramen). Overall not bad. Decent balance of ingredients in my ramen. I tried Child #1's soup and it was fine, though I will say whatever the mushrooms were (woodear, I think), they were fantastic, with a nice marinade and prepared so well. The rolls were fine. My sweet potato was clearly fresh-fried, so it was warm inside the rice, which was a bit surprising. On one hand, a bit crispier. On the other, hot sushi. Our waiter was attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. Prices were fair.

I had high hopes since the menu includes intestines and other items that clearly are not meant for white customers. I am very happy to have a very tasty Chinese restaurant close to me. Dry pork noodles: These were the best IMO. Nice and spicy, with great flavors all around. I suggest getting the pork chop (add on) since there is not a lot of meat that comes with the dish normally. Beef noodle soup: Tasted very authentic and had a great broth. Thin slices of beef reminded me of real Chinese noodle soups. Spicy dry chicken noodles; Very similar to the pork noodles. What I really enjoy is that these are actually spicy dishes! I never had to add chili sauce!! Pork and chive dumplings: These were solid. The sesame dipping sauce is fine, but a mixture of Chinese vinegar (you rarely find this!) and chili sauce are good compliments. Cucumbers: These were more garlic-y then what I had in China, but are still good. Adding a little Chinese vinegar to them really takes them up a notch.

What a fantastic ramen spot…read more Since I had a craving for a big bowl of soup (and wanted to try a new spot), I decided to head over to Pike & Rose to check out JINYA. First, the restaurant's staff is super friendly. Also, I really appreciated the bartender giving me a comprehensive overview of the menu - in particular the lunch specials. Speaking of lunch specials, the restaurant offers a pretty cool and filling $25 lunch menu that includes selected bowls of ramen and a few appetizers (Pork Gyoza [3 pieces], crispy chicken [2 pieces], a mini tuna taco, and a small side salad). I thought my Karaage Chicken Ramen as well as my other items were excellent. In addition to the delicious taste of my lunch, the restaurant service pretty decent-sized dishes. Because of the lunch special, the friendly staff and the overall dining environment, I could see myself coming back to JINYA. For my next visit, I definitely plan on trying one (or more) of JINYA's speciality cocktails. Perhaps, I read the Yelp description wrong. Although I've tried many Asian restaurants near me, I don't always frequent ramen centric restaurants. Glad I tried it because I really enjoyed it. I had the Chef's Special, with the chicken. I had enough broth and ramen to take home and I will add my own chicken to make my own version of this. Will definitely be back here and try a new dish.
