RENDEZVOUS WEST - UCLA 10/10 -- Review: oh how i missed you rendezvous. what even is chipotle? UCLA and i are blessed to receive this magnificent creation of a dining restaurant. like how lucky can i be to swipe everyday and every meal at this place in college!!! the way they fill up my steak bowl with such passion and scoop tons of meat and veggies. i love every worker here and how much love they put into this food. i also get tortilla on the side and wrap a bigger burrito myself . thank you UCLA

Summer menu: fish burrito, chicken plates, and spinach and mushroom quesadilla

Rende is one of my favorite places to eat on the hill at UCLA, especially if you want to get something quickly to-go. I absolutely LOVE the Mexican side and usually don't like the Asian side. Asian Side: I usually never get the combos from Rende East since none of the food there is really that appealing or authentic. There are times when I crave chow mein and get it, but I'm always disappointed and usually throw half of it away. But there are a daily specials that I do actually really like: chicken catsu curry, mapo tofu ramen, vegetarian ramen, sushi bowls. Rende also has boba - it's not very good but it definitely fulfills my boba cravings when I need it. I like the milk tea and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Mexican Side: UGH I LOVE THE FOOD HERE! My all time favorite, go-to meal there is the spinach and mushroom quesadilla, omg sooooo delicious. And it all comes with rice and beans!! Also a big fan of their chicken and fish bowls! OH and their nachos are also fantastic! Tip: you can replace the Mexican rice with brown rice and the refried beans with black beans Tip: most meals come with guacamole and sour cream so make sure to mention if you don't want one of them Tip: a lot of times you can replace the rice and beans for chips! Also I love eating here during the summer because it's basically all you can eat for just one swipe! WHAT A BARGAIN. (This is what's pictured and why everything is on a plate instead of to go boxes)

No shame in my game...I probably use most of my swipes here (and mostly on taco salads and nachos). It's pretty darn good for dorm food, they have specials every single day on both the Mexican side and the Asian side. It's weird but c'mon where else would you have the option of choosing between a beef quesadilla or some bulgogi ramen? Honestly I never stray far from the Mexican side but there's always a line out the door for the Asian side so I'm guessing it can't be bad. They also have chorizo and machaca breakfast burritos and bacon bagel sandwiches in the morning. The only downside to this place is that it's not open over the weekend. Hooray for living about 20 steps from here!

Since I don't live on campus anymore, I don't eat here anymore. But I stopped eating here at some point last year because I got so sick of the food. It's true: UCLA is one of the top rated universities for dorm food, but Rendezvous doesn't attribute much to that ranking. The only thing I could really eat from there was: Chinese side: orange chicken and white rice Mexican side: nachos or taco salad. Even that got disgusting/underwhelming after a while. A lot of their food is inedible because it's poorly cooked or too greasy. I remember feeling sick and getting sick after eating from here. Unfortunate. The only good thing about this place is a) you can take the food back to your dorm (can't do that with dining hall food) and b) the breakfast is pretty good (though the lines are ridic long and slow).

Rendezvous is relatively far from campus. I like that they have special dish every day. The tofu dish in picture is pretty bland. The portion size is very large. Not too many seats inside.

Rendezvous is one of my favorite places to eat at in terms of to-go on-campus dining options here at UCLA. In fact, I am writing this review as I wait in line for it to open (opens at 12pm for lunch). It is one of the further dining restaurants in that it is located up a steep hill and two sets of small stairs--I like to tell myself that I am really working for my food!! ;) Anyway, here is my breakdown: -Great options for to-go breakfast because other to-go places serve bagels and pastries but one can pick up breakfast burritos and more (check menu daily)! -One of the four to-go options on campus for there is a wider selection of cuisines like "Latin," and "Asian" cuisines (as their stations are called). -"Rende," as it is called by Bruins, has vegetarian options and daily specials such as: --Monday: Chipotle Chicken Burrito, BBQ Chicken (or Vegan) Quesadilla, Pork Tankatsu, Vegetarian Bento box --Tuesday: 3 taco combination (beef, chicken, al pastor), Potato Enchiladas, Bulgolgi bowl, Korean Vegetable Box --Wednesday: BBQ (or vegetarian) Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken (or vegan) Teriyaki box, --Thursday: Beef pho, California (or vegetarian) Burrito, teriyaki chicken bento box --Friday: Chicken (or potato) Enchildas, Shrimp Sushi bowl, Vegetarian Sushi Bowl --**Also have daily noodle bowls (check menu) -All entrees come with one drink -Dessert is sold after 9 P.M.--churros with hot chocolate or hot vanilla, Green Tea waffle with ice cream, or dessert nachos. -They also have a wide array of beverages with boba such as Horchata, Milk Tea, Thai Tea, Green Tea, and Taro. -There is a "Happy Hour" special from 2pm-4pm in which one can get a FREE 16oz Boba with meal on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays. -There is a large seating area for students and staff to dine, unlike other to-go places. Everything at Rendezvous is average in taste, but it is still tasty! I mean, I definitely do not feel healthy when I eat here, but it is quick (because ain't nobody got time to eat in the dining halls sometimes) and it definitely has that street-food taste (and grease) that I crave from time-to-time. Tis' all!

The Chinese dish in this canteen is great!I also love the milk tea. Start to miss everything in UCLA

If you look closely, there is a small strand of hair. Found it in my pho.

It's not "destination dining" but is located next to Diddy Reese's Cookies and Ice Cream which is how I stumbled upon this place next door. The food was okay. I'd say the Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet lacked a quantity sized portion of the fish and had too many fillers to make the dish seem bigger than it was in quality. The Pad See Ew, we tried was okay, nothing monumentally special, it was serviceable. So, that's where nothing was impressive but nothing was too offensive either, it just could have been better maybe the price lower and portions higher?

We had the baked pork chop so food took about 20 / 25 minutes or so to come out. Tasted just like childhood! Milk tea also tasted very familiar. I was happy about these two items. The grilled chicken with black pepper sauce was just so so in comparison. Gave it 3 stars because there were flies flying around the patio. Covered trash cans might reduce this problem a bit. Price is also on the higher side. $6 milk tea was not very worth it. And they charged you some sort of fee (see pic) that I wasn't aware of, did not expect extra fee when ordered at the location and not doordash.

My lawyer friend is a longtime male friend whom I've known for a really long time both personally and through work. When I worked at my previous company (not my current one) as the Accounting Manager and HR Manager for six years and six months, he was a labor and employment attorney. I introduced him to the company, and we had meetings together. He also came to a few gatherings of the Korean singles community group I run as a leader. He even sent roses to my office for Valentine's Day back in 2021, but we just remain good friends--he is always hilarious, cheerful, and a fun guy to be around. He's always been a funny, hilarious, cheerful, and entertaining friend, and that's how I've always known him. Since he is a labor lawyer, he knows the owner of this restaurant and he recommended Sweet Maple as a great brunch spot with delicious food, so we decided to go together. The pancakes and French toast were absolutely delicious, and the coffee was good, too! They also had a special thick-cut bacon on the menu called Millionaire's Bacon, which I remember being absolutely delicious. Also, the bacon here is served in very thick slices. It has a specific name on the menu--Millionaire's Bacon--and I remember it being absolutely delicious. I had such a great time that I went back the following Sunday with my mom and it was incredibly delicious that day as well. The atmosphere is great, the servers are all friendly, and every dish is tasty. It's definitely one of my favorite brunch spots, though come to think of it, it's been a while since my last visit. For parking, you can use the building's underground lot, but the space isn't very large. Therefore, I highly recommend going early. If you go later in the afternoon, there are often long lines of people waiting, and finding a parking spot might not be easy.

Super friendly guy took my order and gave me a glass of water. The restaurant was small, but had a very nice, clean vibe. The sandwich was supposed to have come with pickled daikon and carrots, along with cilantro. It came with lots and lots of carrots and a fair amount of jalapenos. There was no daikon that I could see or find, and maybe three sprigs of cilantro. If the carrots were pickled, they must have been pickled in the last ten minutes before I got them as there was no discernible flavor other than carrot. Although I went to eat the sandwich about fifteen minutes after I picked it up. It was very soggy. The meat was very much on the dry side, a bit greasy, but again, overall, pretty flavorless. It also seemed more like roast pork shoulder rather than pork belly. This sandwich is not something I would ever order again as I have had some very good bahn mi elsewhere. If I do come back, I will try one of the soups or salads or maybe a spring roll to see if my experience was just a one-off. Being generous, maybe they watered down the flavor profile to adapt to American tastes, but for me, especially considering the price, this sandwich was a complete failure. Very disappointing.

I have been a loyal GoGoBop customer for many years and have visited this location countless times…read more I have always enjoyed the food and have consistently received friendly service from most of the staff. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to leave a negative review. Unfortunately, there is one tall male employee who has served me on several occasions. Based on my personal experience, every time he has been the one preparing my bowl, the portions have been significantly smaller than those served by other employees--not just the rice, but nearly every item. A bowl that is normally filled close to the top by other staff has consistently been only about one-third full when he prepares it. Each time he has served me, I have left feeling hungry. Today, while waiting in line, I honestly hoped that someone else would be serving me. Unfortunately, he was the employee at the counter. I ordered three portions of rice and one vegetable. From the very beginning of my order, he repeatedly acted as though he could not understand what I was saying, even though I was speaking clearly. The customers standing behind me could clearly understand my order and even tried to explain it to him, but he continued saying that he could not understand. As he prepared my bowl, he again gave me much smaller portions than the standard serving. The three portions of rice together were roughly equivalent to what I would normally expect from a single standard scoop. At that point, I knew I would not have enough food for my meal. Because he repeatedly said he could not understand me, I finally asked if another employee could please help me instead. When I pointed to the food to clarify what I meant, he responded by saying, "Don't raise your hand so high." I found this unnecessarily rude and dismissive. For a moment, I even wondered whether ordering three portions of rice was somehow inappropriate. I am currently following a meal plan designed by my nutritionist, and this is simply the amount of food I am supposed to eat. Afterward, I spoke with the Chef Manager and asked whether ordering three portions of rice was a problem. She clearly told me that it was not my fault at all and that my order was completely reasonable. Because I felt so uncomfortable, I got back in line and purchased another bowl just so I would not have to be served by the same employee again. This time, the Chef Manager assisted me. She immediately understood everything I said, treated me with professionalism and respect, apologized for my experience, and assured me that if I returned in the future, she would make sure I would not have to be served by that employee again. I truly appreciate the Chef Manager's professionalism. However, no customer should have to ask for a different employee simply to receive the correct portions and be treated with basic courtesy. This review is not about receiving extra food. It is about receiving the standard portions that every paying customer should expect and being treated with respect. After many years of supporting GoGoBop, I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. I sincerely hope management reviews this incident and addresses it appropriately, because one employee should not be able to undermine the positive reputation that the rest of the staff has worked hard to build.

My friend was super excited to see char siu on the menu since we had passed on Cantonese char siu the day before, but the char siu bowl that they had here was closer to Taiwanese braised pork belly rice. There were some pieces of meat that were tender and seasoned well, but the majority of pieces were too dry, and the rice to meat ratio was pretty bad; you're definitely not getting your money's worth with this dish. The other dish that was pretty bad was the rendang bowl. Rendang is one of my favorites dishes because of how tender the meat can be and how many different types of spices are used, but the one here misses the mark in every way: the pork was dreadfully dry, the pork wasn't seasoned well, and honestly, it was hard for us to finish the bowl. A complete waste of $16. The dishes that were enjoyed by our part included the fried fish cakes, the fried corn fritters and the skewers. These I would get again if I stopped by again. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by our meal. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing, but the execution was not there.
