Spicy Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings (6Pcs), Baked Pork Chop In Tomato Sauce, Hong Kong Style Lemon Iced Tea
    Vivian C.

Was excited to hear about HK cafe food on the west side. If you've ever had this type of food in the SGV, don't expect it to be similar. It's decent for what it is but my partner and I thought the dishes were still lacking in flavor. The best thing we got was the iced lemon tea. There's indoor and outdoor seating but keep in mind it's a ghost kitchen so it can get crowded. Parking is street and it was pretty difficult during Saturday.

Hong Kong Cafe western style food comes to the Westside of Los Angeles for the first time at JM 9 Kitchen, and it's just as good as you get in the San Gabriel Valley. Fried sole, tomato pork chop and pepper sauce chicken cutlet are all great. Of course, given the location, traditional Cantonese dishes are also on the menu and they are excellent too.

It's inside a ghost kitchen with so many food options. The good thing with this place that they also have seating area so we can eat there. The grilled chicken from JM9 was amazing! Crispy outside, juicy inside. Perfectly grilled. The teriyaki sauce was good too. And the portion was generous! I also ordered hot and sour soup but unfortunately the soup was not that good. It was just okay. Will definitely come back for the grilled chicken!

They absolutely nailed it with their grilled chicken steak -- it has that authentic Hong Kong flavor I love! The chicken was juicy and packed with incredible flavor, and it stayed delicious even after the drive home. I ordered through UberEATS and picked it up for only $18.99, and the portion was huge! Nowadays, I don't think anywhere else offers something this size for under $20. The to-go packaging was impressive too: neat, secure, and it kept everything warm and fresh with no leaks or mess. Honestly, this has been one of the best takeout meals I've had in a long time. Highly recommend!

I ordered the grilled chicken and Hong Kong milk tea from JM9 Kitchen. Both were really good! The chicken was tasty with a huge portion, and the milk tea was smooth and strong. Definitely worth it--I'll order again.

Great Hong Kong comfort food in the vicinity of UCLA! Really enjoyed the crispiness of the grilled chicken steak (that pairs well with the black pepper gravy), and how flavourful the beef fried rice and bolognese was!

Yummy Hong Kong food and only 15 minutes from UCLA! I liked the baked pork chop rice the best

Curry Chicken Spicy Salt Pepper Chicken Wings & Calamari

It's my first time here but I'd definitely revisit for that authentic Hong Kong taste! Favourite dish is the fried calamari and chicken wings and the baked pork chop in tomato sauce. Lemon tea tasted great as well.

Feels like I am eating in Hong Kong. Their food is awesome!!! Especially the curry chicken

    Baked rice with chicken

A nice a convenient spot for UCLA students! Very close by bus, and satisfying HK style meal. I love the chicken wings and the baked rice and pasta!

Are the refill for lemon tea/milk tea?

No, this is in a ghost kitchen, you order online and pick it up, not a standalone restaurant where you would have a waiter to refill a drink

No leftovers, no over-ordering... a true test of discipline at a place like this. Started with a Thai iced tea that hit exactly right. Balanced, not overly sweet, and generously poured. Service throughout the meal was excellent. Attentive without hovering, and the pacing was spot on. I never felt rushed, which is rare when you're clearly on a clock. For my appetizer, I went with the Phuket wings. As someone who takes wings seriously, I can say these stood out. Crispy, flavorful, and coated in a Southern Thai curry sauce I hadn't experienced before. Rich, slightly sweet, with a depth that kept me going back for "just one more." For the main, I took the server's recommendation and ordered the Thai beef salad to balance things out. Smart call. The dressing leaned creamier than what I usually expect, but it worked. Bright, flavorful, and layered. I'll be honest, I couldn't quite finish it, but the beef didn't stand a chance. Every last bite. Dessert sealed the deal. The mango sticky rice, now famously known as the Cardi B Mango Sticky Rice, lived up to the hype. Perfectly ripe mango, warm sticky rice, and that coconut sauce tying it all together. Simple, classic, and done right. The space itself tells a story. Walls lined with photos of the owner alongside celebrities from all over. But what stood out more than the photos was the man himself. He made his way around the room, greeting guests, checking in, bringing real warmth to the experience. No hierarchy, no pretense. Everyone gets treated like they belong. Twenty-six years in and I'm just now discovering this place? Better late than never. Next time, I'm bringing a group and ordering everything family style. That's the move.

The curries were good, and the pad thai was sweeter than my personal preference. I enjoyed the chicken dishes more than the beef, which was a bit chewy. There is only street parking.

She told us that we could be seated at the bar immediately, which is what we opted for. She placed us at a lower portion of the bar with two seats, which was perfect. The bartender, Justin took our drink and dinner order and I have to say, he makes amazing cocktails! We had egg rolls for an appetizer, which arrived very quickly and went well with our cocktails. I ordered a rye old-fashioned and my wife ordered a house creation, "Jesuit's Tea Party," which she enjoyed. For our entrees, I ordered Hainan Chicken and my wife had the Walnut Shrimp. Mine was really good, but I have to say I like the Walnut Shrimp better. They have their breading skills dialed in, so next time I think I'd go with something fried. All in all a great experience. Great vibe and everyone was very friendly and attentive.

The restaurant was previously called Status Kuo and then rebranded to Little Fatty. It is also attached to a bar called Accomplice Bar. [Parking]: Metered parking only and I was able to find a spot two blocks away on Grand View Blvd. [Reversation]: For parties of 6 and smaller, reservations can be made on Resy. For parties of 8 and larger, there is a minimum spend of $75 per person prior to tax & gratuity. No-show fee = $15 per person. [Experience]: The receptionist greeted our party just outside of the restaurant and checked us in. Outdoor tables were available, but our party opted for indoor seating. The lighting was dim with a romantic and casual dinner vibe. At the end of the meal, the staff offered our table hot towels to clean our hands. [Menu]: Menu highlights on Resy include Chinese BBQ Pork, XO Fatty Noodles, Walnut Shrimp. Other Yelp highlighted items include Orange Chicken, Beef Roll, and Hainan Chicken. Burger Tuesday is offered ONLY at the bar. A bowl of rice is an extra $4.00. The staff also gave our table a cute cocktail menu with drinks named after each LA neighborhood. *** Squid Ink Xiao Long Bao (shrimp and pork soup dumplings, fresh ginger - $18.00): Only came with 6 pieces of dumplings. The dough was a bit thick and the flavor was just alright. XO Fatty Noodles (rolled rice noodles, XO sauce, bean sprouts, garlic chives, fried shallots - $22.00): The noodles tasted slightly salty. I couldn't tell whether I had sliced pork belly or flat noodles in the dim lighting and it turned out to be thick slices of flat noodles. Orange Chicken (orange soy-based sauce, dried chilies, orange zest - $22.00): Super crispy orange chicken, but it was crunchy type of crispy and tasted a bit dry. Walnut Shrimp (mayo, candied walnuts, sesame seeds, red cabbage - $25.00): his dish came with lettuce and looked really nice. The flavor was solid and it tasted very healthy. *** Personally it was an overpriced experience for mediocre Asian fusion food. I would much rather visit Jade Rabbit in Santa Monica for cheaper and more delicious Asian fusion food or Din Tai Fung in Santa Monica for a more consistent dumpling and noodle experience. The only reason to come here is for the date-night vibe. Honestly, the food tasted more like Northern Chinese fusion cuisine than Taiwanese fusion cuisine.

Customer Service: (5/5) The waiter was very nice throughout. She was very endearing as she talked to my girlfriend in chinese and also kind to me when speaking in english. When asked about dishes and proportions, she was very knowledgeable and honest. Food: (4.5/5) We ordered the Mapo Tofu and Meizhou Special Fried Rice with chicken. The food came out within 10 minutes and the portions, as I saw on previous reviews, were generous enough for us to share and be full. The Mapo Tofu came out on a hot ceramic bowl. It wasn't as spicy as I thought, not overly spicy but just enough where you get that numbing kind of sensation in your mouth that leaves you wanting more. The beef wasn't like the ground beef you see in other mapo tofu, but more of chunkier pieces which I wasn't a big fan of as it didn't seem spread evenly. The Meizhou Special Fried Rice with chicken was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever had. You can tell it was made from a wok and the flavors were just incredible. The chicken seemed to have been friend separately and added on top afterwards but the saltiness of the chicken didn't take away from the fried rice at all. Instead, it added to the flavor and made it all so enjoyable. For the ultimate experience, I'd recommend eating both together to maximize your palette!

The space feels worn -- menus tattered, décor dated, the whole interior overdue for a refresh. For a restaurant positioning itself at the higher end of Chinese dining, Meizhou Dongpo is sleeping on the finer details. No complimentary tea service, and rather than offering a pot for the table, they serve individual tea by the mug -- a comically oversized Western mug at that. Chopsticks arrive without spoons, and when you ask for one, you get silverware instead of the porcelain you'd expect at Chinese restaurant. The Peking duck accoutrements came with a little plastic spoon on the tray. Small things, but they add up.The fried rice was a letdown too and looked nothing like the menu photo. Spots like Din Tai Fung and Lunasia Signature are operating at a different level and the gap shows. Meizhou Dongpo has the bones of a great Chinese restaurant. The duck alone proves it.
