Okay first of all and absolutely most importantly (to me), this salon is the oldest house in Grapevine, it was once a funeral parlor, and it's rumored to be haunted.... How can I ever get my hair cut or colored anywhere else?? Rylee does my hair and she's just the best. The best! She listens to you. She asks meaningful questions, manages your expectations, and then gives you what you want. When I told her I wanted my hair as blonde as possible without turning it into straw, she gave it to me. The color was beautiful and still is, plus it's growing out really well. And I don't even dread going to my next appointment (I traditionally dread any upcoming appointment), I'm actually looking forward to it. The vibe at Renata is casual and comfortable and fun. Found this location due to the reviews. I can't share enough how happy I am with my hair style. I'm in love with it and I feel 10 years younger. I went in for a simple haircut to this very cute location - I desperately needed it as a good 4-5 inches of my hair was dead and full of split ends. Ashlee was kind enough to not point out how bad it was. Haha. I was greeted kindly and only had to wait about 5 minutes to start. Ashlee washed my hair carefully and it felt so good as her nails massaged my scalp, my favorite part of getting my hair done! She gave me thoughtful tips on hair care keeping my budget in mind. When it came time to cut off 13 inches of my hair, she asked to make sure I was ready, and said we could start longer to not accidentally go to short. Jillian is my hairdresser and she is fantastic at her job. I stumbled into her salon back in 2012 and was so thankful to find a fun, talented hair artist to help me maintain healthy hair and look my best. She has always been very thoughtful in her approach by listening to what I want and adapting to my hair style boredom requests. I have found it is important to get what you truly want from a cut/style and experience, great listening skills and artistry skills matter. She has blended my colors in such a way that I always look natural and that non fake coloring is important to me. I couldn't be more thankful she is now working in Texas. The salon is super cool, vibrant and everyone was so nice and welcoming. On many occasions, especially during Covid, Jillian has always been available to answer questions regarding hair maintenance, how to style, which brands to buy from and address concerns I have (like breakage and grays) etc... . Not to mention she is a down to earth and has a sweet presence (a requirement for a good hair stylist). In my experience, hairdressers listen to all our personal stories and when they do it with grace and non judge-mental, it makes the experience is relaxing. And as a side note, When I decided to leave my house for some self care she was the first person I called and knowing how she stayed COVID safe assured me of her protocols. She was right. I can't believe I waited so long to get my hair done but the fear of Covid kept me away. I discovered Renata because they made a generous donation to my favorite local charity. I bid on their huge gift basket donation at a silent auction and won! So let me start off by saying I have not kept up with my roots how I should have been. My roots were grown out TERRIBLY. I've just been really busy, and time got away from me. I came in for my appointment and honestly felt sorry for whoever was going to have to rescue my hair. Chelsea was my stylist and she was AMAZING! (And she didn't even complain about the terrible shape my hair was in) I described what I wanted and she gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. I went to work after my appointment and got so many compliments. Everyone was asking who did my hair because this is the best it's ever looked! So thank you, Chelsea! I've already booked my next appointment six weeks out because I don't want to lose this amazing look. :) Also, I must say, the staff were all so friendly! I probably spoke to five or six girls and everyone was so sweet and personable. They make you feel very welcome and comfortable. They also had really fun upbeat music playing. It was the "one-hit wonders" radio on Pandora. It made for a very enjoyable experience! And last but not least, the decor was awesome. One building is really fancy, yet also cozy, and the other building which is right next door (I think they call it the parlor) was really fun! It's a shabby-chic look, and very eclectic. It's nice to have interesting things to look at when you're getting your hair done. :) I didn't mean for this review to be so long, but I am just so happy with every aspect of my experience at Renata! DO NOT GO HERE!! I did quite a bit of research and the reviews initially seemed good. Well, they changed my apt from 2 to 3, 30 minutes before I had to be there. I accidentally came in the side door because that's where the parking lot was and the receptionist thought it was necessary to correct me. It was my first time there. You don't want someone going through a specific door kept it locked, right? Yelp friends I am so sad. I haven't done anything to my hair in 6 years. I had a photo and everything. told the stylist I wanted "definition in my curls"; "I want it to be mostly my natural color". I even asked if there was a such thing called ombré highlights because I wanted no maintenance and color on the ends of my hair. Meaning color on the bottom not my roots. Well she "balayage" my hair. Basically highlights with an inch to spare from my roots. Don't get me wrong it's great balayage. Just not what I wanted. I should have said something, but I didn't. I kept quite about the result. After much damage to my hair by someone who did not know what they were doing and trying to fix it myself ( big mistake) I finally found Renata Salons and my girl Chelsea. I needed a dye job, cut and style out. When I was in Houston, a salon that carried Goldwell brand hair dye saved my hair. I've been looking for Goldwell hair dye since and learned that Renata carries it so a trek to Grapevine was in order for my appointment on Saturday. First, Renata is in a Victorian House circa 1896. I super love Victorian houses so this was super cool to me. I'll admit I was worried when walking into the fancy front greeting area that this would be an "uppity" place... not so! very down to earth and friendly. The hair stylists work predominantly in the front parlor, a tower room of sorts and all the ladies chat. There's no annoying techno music like Toni and Guy thank goodness. its very chill. Jordan did my dye job and she made it look amazing. Really, it hasn't looked this good since last Dec. when I had it done in Houston. Very believable color, no damage that I can see. A good cut, she really listened to what I wanted. She also made sure I had a drink and a few magazines since I was going to be in her chair for a while. The only slightly odd thing is you have to walk through the parlor to get your hair rinsed out in another room but I thought walking through the Victorian downstairs was pretty cool myself. Root dye, semi permanent on the rest of my hair, shampoo, rinse, cut and style out was $100. Cheaper than Toni and Guy. Same price as Ulta but with less traffic, a private lot, nicer surroundings and more personal service. This is my hair shop from now on. My three years of searching DFW for a good hair place are finally over. read more

I can not rave about this salon enough! Christina did an amazing job on my new style. I came in with waist length virgin hair and left with shoulder length hair and color. The color technique I decided on is called sombre a more subtle look than the popular ombre look. Ask for Christina and you will not be disappointed! Onto the salon itself... It is in a Victorian house in the Grapevine historic district right off Main St. filled with beautiful antique furniture. They were even able to find 4 matching drawers that they use as their stations. It smells heavenly in there and the hair products also smell wonderful. At checkout they have some nice jewelry and hair accessories. I could not pass on a headband to keep my newly short hair back and some hair ties that are better than regular ponytail holders on the hair. Can not leave out that Christina was right on time before I even had the short new customer form filled out and I was early. She gave me a 25.00 new client discount that I was not even aware of. And with every referral I get a 25.00 credit to my account towards future appointments. I was there for 3 hours and bill was only 145.00 before the 25.00 new customer discount. I was surprised knowing that real estate in this area is outrageous. read more

Military Spouse new to DFW-area I came to Renata as a brand new resident of Dallas. As a military spouse, we've lived in a lot of major cities across the US which means I've been to a LOT of salons (Charlotte, Philly, Charleston, Detroit, San Francisco). Needless to say, I am always TERRIFIED of having a poor experience at new salons because I am not a natural blonde and my hair usually takes a beating every 5 weeks (I do a full highlight to keep up with my dark roots). I was BLOWN away by all facets of this salon. Color Quality for Blondes + Knowledge My colorist was Aaron, and she completely "rocked my locks off"! The color line she used was Goldwell, and the result is STUNNING. I have a tendency to fade over time and turn very brassy. From the minute she took off the towel I knew the tone and glaze was different and above and beyond anything I have had before--bright color, beautiful placement and rhythm throughout with a ton of dimension, and a "glow" and "shine" that is really difficult to accomplish on heavily colored blonde hair like mine. She was also very humble and honest about my horribly dry and broken ends and recommended a good cut to create a solid baseline together. I am so glad she suggested this and I feel so much better, having chopped about 6 inches of damaged hair that I was clinging onto. Now I have consistent coloring throughout, and beautiful ends which I know will grow much faster than ever before! Why has no other stylist been able to get me to this point?! Aaron is a gem. Customer Service I honestly loved everyone I came into contact with; from the owner via Yelp to set up my first appointment, to the receptionist that is sweeter than a butterfly, to Aaron who I am NEVER leaving (I will travel to the ends of the Earth for her talents and magnetic personality!) Visuals + Decor Holy beautiful! Everything is an "experience" in this place. The decor is on-point, the large Victorian entryways make you feel like a queen, and the multiple stories and Parlor outside tell stories of a whimsical past. So I drove out to Pura Vida when their phone was mysteriously disconnected and found my formerly beloved nail salon shut down. Whomp wah! Thanks to Yelp, I found the great reviews of Renata and decided to give it a shot. My spring break is coming to an end and I decided it was time for a massage and maybe even getting my nails done. Renata offers the awesome "Mellow Merlot" package that includes manicure, pedicure, and 60 minute massage. I arrived and got a calming massage from Jill in the gorgeous upstairs half of this Victorian era home, but not before she poured me an extremely generous glass of red wine. After my massage, I headed downstairs and was SO happy to find the awesome nail tech Patricia from Pura Vida! She moved up and out when the new (and short lived) owners took over Pura Vida and went to Renata. This girl can do a gel french manicure like no other. So, with my body more relaxed, my nails prettier, and my toes sparklier, I'm ready to face the last chunk of the school year. They had a cancellation and could get me in the same day I called. The Victorian house is charming, and the entire staff was so nice. I had an appointment with Tianna, who is fantastic. So let me begin by saying ...I bought a package of 10 massages from Renata about 2 years ago. They have been very gracious to let me use them past the 1 year expiration mark. I really loved the therapist that would see me but, she is no longer there. So I saw a new one, Jill, yesterday. I think Jill is very nice but in no way professional. She was chewing gum AUDIBLY during the massage & sneezed on me 4 times. After which she did not stop & wash her hands. Worst massage I have ever had. And I have had ALOT. The pedicure I had after the massage was just as bad. The nail tech was VERY sweet, but it was her first week & you could tell she was a bit lost. Uneven polish & she coated my toes in some topcoat that made them look red & inflamed. The worst part was the owner of the salon kept appearing offering me alcohol & cupcakes . I declined but she seemed to have had several Mimosas herself. Like she was hoping if I left inebriated & on a sugar high I would not remember my visit. She can make your hair look exactly how you want it, and you don't have to sacrifice what you want since she is very knowledgeable!
