It's difficult to find a new salon and especially a new hairdresser. But since Relle was recommended to me about two years ago, I've been loyal. Tanisha is a truly gifted stylist who has a very loyal clientele. And for good reason. Any type of hair and any issues, nothing seems out of her abilities. Samantha, my stylist, has been doing what's best for my hair and my style for that whole time. A good listener and full of good advice, these are the things that make her a good choice. Parking can be a bit tricky from time to time. But there are so many restaurants and shops very close by, it's always good to plan a lunch afterwards. If you are considering a new stylist or salon, and especially if you like all natural products, you should consider coming here. read more

Super cute salon, 10/10 DO NOT recommend getting anything but a cut here. I asked for a balayage. I have never had my hair colored at all before so it should have been easy. When I left the salon I was happy with what I got... then I got home. The pictures explain themselves but I have a random spot of bleach on my head, bleeding all over the place, and pieces of hair that look like they were purposely bleached in a straight line? This is an organic salon and they don't use any harsh chemicals in their colors and/ or products! No ammonia in color is def a plus! I had an amazing experience getting my hair cut by Tanesha, Buffalo's curly queen! I loved that she was already familiar with the curly girl routine and took the time to consult with me on my curl type and concerns before cutting. I arrived with wet hair because the salon happened to be getting their hot water heater fixed and Tanesha actually diffused it to see what my natural curls look like dry. She was very patient and understanding with me and my requests, asked questions about my routine and maintenance level, and provided really insightful feedback on new techniques and suggestions. Tanesha gave me a good trim and paid specific attention to shaping my individual curls. It was amazing and completely personalized to my hair pattern and curls. I wanted to try curly bags and after discussing it with Tanesha while she worked on the rest of my hair, decided to take the plunge. Of course, as soon as she cut them I had a panicked moment of regret. Let me tell you though once she diffused them dry, you wouldn't believe how DAMN cute they were. Flirty, curly and thriving! I loved them and because Tanesha cut them curl by curl, they continued to look great everyday when I styled them on my own, which was letting them airdry and do their own thing. They have grown out but still look great and flow well into the rest of my curls. I let Tanesha use all the products the salon offers on my hair. They are all organic and smell amazing!! Unfortunately, I don't think they were all technically CG method approved. As I perused the products wall, I noticed some baddies in the ingredient lists. Regardless, my hair did look absolutely incredible and I felt like a damn rock star ready to fight off paparazzi as I left the salon. At $60 my haircut felt like a fucking steal. I was happy to treat myself to an amazing curly cut by Tanesha! She was so warm and welcoming, I felt really comfortable with her as soon as I sat in her chair. I researched a ton of salons for a decent haircut in Elmwood that would not total over $70 with tip (surprisingly difficult). After cutting my own hair for the past year I decided it was time to commit to a decent cut. After seeing all of the glowing reviews for Relle and then noticing they offer a Yelp check-in discount, I made an appointment for the following week. I am very loyal to my primary salon where I have my highlights/balayage done but I was interested in finding a different place for a haircut. I have to admit, I became used to making my salon appointments online and felt a little odd having to call in to make an appointment. I suppose I have just gotten used to being able to search multiple dates and having visual options. The haircut was great! My stylist gave great input while also following my idea and photo inspiration. I have to admit, the last time I got a haircut it took over 45 minutes for the cut alone and felt very customized. This was not the case during my visit. I understand stylist have different techniques but I didn't really feel like my expected amount of time was given to the cut. With that said, it still turned out great. Then again, this is coming from the girl who has been cutting her own hair for the past year so my standard for haircuts is definitely skewed. I can guarantee any client walking into a salon having been cutting their own hair at home must be a nightmare. However, I left wondering if the stylist was rushed or just silently horrified by my previous DIY layers. With all of this said, she chopped off my terrible dead ends and left me with a nice cut. I am not sure if I would go back... I'll have to think on that some more. I was also a little thrown when I went to check out and the person assisting with the front desk did not know of the Yelp offer and did not care to look at my phone. Quick Summary: First visit, Sara was a GREAT stylist, and I am super happy with results! Will definitely be going back. And for context: I have very long, slightly wavy, color-treated hair with some damage on the ends. SCHEDULING: I found this salon on Yelp and decided to give it a try - it did not disappoint! The scheduling process was super easy, as the receptionist was very sweet and helpful and answered each of my 17 questions (lol) with patience and ease. They sent a confirmation text the day before which was also helpful. I booked 2 days in advance but it seems I was lucky to get a slot, so I'd suggest calling further in advance! APPOINTMENT: The appointment itself was great. I showed up a few minutes early and had barely put my stuff down in the waiting area before my stylist was ready. I was paired with Sara and she was fantastic! So sweet and accommodating and really listened to my hair concerns, history (which involved some bleaching incidents and damage and things I worry about), and specifically what I wanted from this appointment. But she also listened and took into account what I had planned for my hair in the months to come (i.e. balayage). I came in for a root touch-up but she noticed some color inconsistencies through the length of my hair which would make it somewhat more difficult for a stylist to do a balayage in the future. In light of that, she offered to bring the color down and through the length of my hair to cover it up/balance the color and make it easier for when I eventually get a balayage done. THE PROCESS: Overall technique was great and she took her time to carefully bring the color down, looking for any spots where old color faded and make sure my hair looked flawless from every angle. I had to sit with the color for awhile and the salon itself was a pleasant place to spend time. It's actually pretty tranquil and they offered water or tea while I was waiting. The rinse/shampoo/conditioner they use smells great! I do wish they gave a bit more of a scalp massage (my salon back in NYC used to give a 5 minute one during every wash ) but I certainly wouldn't knock them for it! THE RESULTS: Wow, I'm in love! I went in for a maintenance appointment (basically just the bare minimum to "get by") and instead - because of Sara - I feel like a completely refreshed, new person! My whole head looks great as though I scheduled a top to bottom makeover. The tones from her pulling the color through gave so much life and well-placed coverage, I can't thank her enough for making that recommendation and executing so flawlessly. I hate to do this. I put three stars out of kindness for the business, but really wanted to put just 1. Hairdresser (Sarah) went a bit rogue on my hair today. Color turned out great but the cut not so much. I asked for long layers, and the ability to be able to still put my hair up because it's been warm out. Even talked about how annoying it is to have to use lots of Bobby pins just to not feel hair dropping out from the pony tail or bun and tickling my neck. Well instead this hair dresser went to town with the thinning scissors and layers. I can hardly get my hair up. I have nothing against short hair for myself it's just not the time of year I wanted it to be this short and definitely not the style I'd want if I asked for this length (like I would still want my thick hair just short and probably in a bob style). Anyway, we agreed on collarbone length and long layers to keep the end from becoming bulky. There was adequate communication. My guess is she got started and just took off on her own vision and then couldn't undo it once started... cause my hair has been thinned down more than I've ever had in my life. I am totally fine having lots of hair thank you very much! I just wanted to take a few inches off and to darken it. Never said anything about needing it thinned to death. My hair looks like a Monica and/or Rachel hairstyle from friends circa 2002. So many layers and they are so short I can't keep my hair up. I'll have to wait a year or more before things even out enough for me to even hold a braid in my hair wonderful salon, and great products, but never going to this particular hairdresser again. Probably never going again in general to avoid awkwardness tbh. Also... so expensive for this cut and color, for some reason I was too jarred and confused to say anything and ended up leaving a pretty decent tip because who knows why.. I have never cried after haircuts as I don't have too big of an attachment to my hair... but today I did. And more so because I just felt so unseen and unheard and was looking forward to being taken care after so long of not being able to with covid and it was so disappointing. Went to Relle today for a cut and color. I was immediately struck by the interior design and the music, this salon has a relaxing ambient vibe. My sytlist Cynthia was tasked with fixing a truly botched cut from a stylist at Chez Ann Salon, and bringing the color from a pink tint to warm blonde on the ends. Cynthia effortlessly balyaged my hair, i was so relaxed actually almost fell asleep in the sink (which can sometimes be uncomfortable). She fixed my bad haircut and added a lot of life with layers and the blowout she gave me. Im truly pleased with my experience and id love to go back for a pedi. read more

For starters, I am really picky about my hair- to the extent that I normally wait months to go back to my hair stylist that's 400 miles away in NYC. Then there's the whole Asian hair thing- where my hair is just a stubborn wave and layering can be a nightmare cut if the stylist doesn't know what they're doing. Lastly, I am that client that calls for a same day appointment (essentially a walk-in). I have just had a really stressful week and just wanted to relax and feel pretty. My hair has grown long and scraggly. Relle answered the phone promptly and got me with Carly. Walking in, I found a charming salon that was clean, quiet and comfortable. There was light music playing and Carly greeted me with a smile. She listened to my requests for a wash and cut and thus the spa experience began. This was my experience with organic products and it wasn't a deal breaker for me. But what I noticed was how great everything smelled, fresh and light. That, coupled with Carly washing and massaging my scalp was refreshing and relaxing. Exactly what I needed. Then came the cutting. Unlike most people, I tend to be quieter and just want to relax. I was very thankful that Carly was friendly but just let me listen to the music and relax. She did ask me throughout the cut for my opinion about length and shape (I got an inverted bob), which is refreshing because I'm used to stylists just doing things their way. In the end, I love the haircut and definitely see myself coming regularly. My only peeve is the parking that is trickier during winter months. It's free street parking, but make sure you read the signs. Parallel parking skills required! I found a spot within minutes. My car got scratched in the hour and change at Relle but that's just lousy Buffalonian driving in general. I'd still come back for Carly though! She was very informative about the process and helped me to understand better what is in my hair care products. As a result I bought new products to use and went home and threw things away. I have lived East Coast to West, and this is by far the best salon I've ever been to. I have unruly, thick, wavy hair, but it's no match for Tanesha. She's the only stylist who has ever been able to tame my hair and always leaves me looking great. No matter what cut I'm after, she knows how to adapt it to my hair. The salon is so chic yet welcoming (very difficult to accomplish, but Relle pulls it off), and everyone is so warm and friendly right from the minute you walk in the door. The atmosphere is nice, the workers are friendly but what actually was done to my hair was underwhelming. I had bleached my hair overseas and wanted to lighten it to give it that icy white color because it was very yellow at that point, so I came to this salon so as to reduce the damage to my hair since the products used are organic. I explained what I wanted to be done, and 2 hours later it was only 2 shades a lighter yellow than before, I wasn't impressed and tipped anyway. Btw, SUPER EXPENSIVE I paid almost $200 for something that faded within a week and my hair is back to the way it started when she said it was permanent. I highly doubt I will be going back or recommending this place to anyone. I hate writing negative reviews but for the amount of money spent for hardly any change it was just not worth it. read more

After searching for a salon that used more natural products, my first experience at Relle was everything I hoped it would be! Conventional coloring and commercial haircare products, combined with being over age 50, had left my hair straw-like and unmanageable. I was really wondering if it could ever be brought back to life, but one session with Brandon and my hair felt soft and smelled amazing. He is very knowledgeable and gave me great advice that I know will make my hair the best it can be. Tanesha is a godsend for those of us who have curly hair. She dry cut my gigantic, long, thick, curly hair like an absolute master, making my hair feel appreciated rather than shamed. This was a wonderful departure from most of my experiences at white bougie salons, where I am made to feel like some ugly stepdaughter for my hair. This was hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a hair stylist. Sara Ann is the WORST!! Do not go to her. Ever. Not only was she cold, non-conversational, and I had to sit through the most brutal awkward silence, but she did a terrible job and charged waaaayyyyyy too much. I shouldn't have even given her a tip but I felt obligated. I told her what I wanted, showed her a picture, but she went rouge. She gave me choppy layers when I said I just wanted a trim. I wanted to keep my hair long so I could put it up over the summer, but now I can barely put it up without pieces falling out of my ponytail. I wanted to go a little lighter for summer but now my hair just looks....insane. It's not even that much lighter and in the sunlight it looks red (I'm a brunette and that's not what I wanted). When it came time to cash out, I was SHOCKED at the price. It was over $300 before tip. When I raised my concerns, stating that I was confused at how high the price was, her response was that she could have charged me more. Unreal. It's a shame because the rest of the staff seems to do a great job. I just got stuck with the worst hair dresser on the planet. Ugh. read more

A great find! Angel has been cutting my hair for probably about a year now. My hair can be difficult (currently cut very short, cowlicks, *super* thick, wavy in parts) but he has somehow managed to tame it and make it look great (without much of my help - I'm not terribly hair-talented). This Salon is unique in that the decor is eclectic and they offer Amonia free color. I do not know how long they have been in business, however, I do believe they are trying to become one of Buffalos premier salons. Everyone is very nice and I was made to feel comfortable. They have everything you would need to improve the condition of your hair, and I am all for that! But, I believe that it is the stylists who make a salon really good, not just the ambiance of a place. My experience of coloring my hair is about 35 years. I know what it takes to make the color cover the faded out and gray areas from a previous visit. So, I expressed that to the stylist, several times, while she was putting the color on. Usually, 40 minutes will make the color stay and cover till the next appointment. Unfortunately the stylist was full of herself and chose not to listen and washed me out in 30 min instead. Okay, maybe I was wrong. Who knows, this was my first time there. I did not wash my hair until the next evening. At which point all of color washed out. GREAT! Now I have to live with one half inch of grow out for another, at least 2, weeks before I dare to color my hair again. So I will wear a hat? The other deal about this appointment is a cut. I showed the stylist a picture of what I was thinking and she was so adamant about the length that we could not agree on a picture. So I settled for just a light trim, OMG,what a hassle. Finally the cost. Over $200 bucks for a trim, base color, and a few highlights, not to mention a $20 tip. So! Live and learn I guess. After 2 weeks of living with my nightmare experience I contacted the salon for some reprieve. At first they offered me new color for the cost of just the product. I took a slow burn to that and contacted them again. Reading people the riot act does help and they offered me $141 dollars back, and this was back on my credit card in 2 days. I think I will go to Studio 806 next. Good Luck Relle salon, either hire stylists that are good enough, that a cost of $200 dollars or more is justified, or lower your prices. read more

I've also read great reviews about it so I decided to give them a try. I came in to Brandon with some ideas and inspirations I had found and let him go from there. The finished look was great!
