Someone very close to me had a horrible experience with Get Waxed It's Personal and Lisa. She had an adequate visit for a bikini wax last month and made a second appointment with Lisa then. When she showed up to her second appointment this week, Lisa acted confused: "oh did you have an appointment?" then refused to perform the service, essentially saying the client was too fat. Lisa said she wouldn't be able to pull the skin tight enough, even though she was able to once before and the client was satisfied with the wax the first time. Lisa did not cancel the appointment ahead of time, but refused service to a client who showed up for her second appointment. Bikini waxes are extremely vulnerable. One would hope they wouldn't be body shamed during one. Not a plus-size friendly business. Not a friendly business. Here is specifically what Lisa said to me friend when she showed up for her second appointment: "1. she said that she couldn't get access to "the rest" (anything past the vulva in front) because of my weight. she had me lie on my back the whole time, occassionally sticking my legs out a bit but nowhere near enough to even give access on a skinny person??? she still took the fee for the full brazilian despite not giving me one though! 2. she said that my skin was too stretchy, she couldn't hold it in place when waxing which meant it would get pulled more and bruise. that i could only be waxed if she had an assistant to help hold all of my skin (read: rolls)." read more

I go to lisa regularly for eyebrow, lip, and brazilian waxing. She is professional and amazingly talented. Her place is very clean and you can tell she truly cares about her clients and their experience at her business. She uses a specific technique and works with you to ensure that your eyebrows are perfect. After going to her I will NOT let anyone but Lisa wax/tweeze my eyebrows. One of my fortunate yelp discoveries.. This place is so clean, and people there are professional..I tried Jolie and lisa before, they are both soo friendly, professional and really good at waxing.. Jolie waxes quickly and painlessly, which is not a common finding when u get waxed in painful body areas !! I tried Lisa for lip waxing, she is a beauty expert she knows a lot about skin care too. I did not like my experience getting a brazilian wax at Get Waxed. When I walked in, the owner was sitting at the front desk (the whole front desk/lobby area is tiny) and she did not greet me or acknowledge my existence in any way. There I sat, three feet from her, in silence, the two of us the only people in the entire place, and she completely ignored my presence. And no, she was not talking on the phone....I guess she just didn't feel like acknowledging a customer. The wax itself was painfully awkward. I have been getting Brazilian and Sphinx waxes for 12 years - from NYC to California - and I have never had an experience like the one I did with Lisa. I hate to say it, but she was CLEARLY uncomfortable with me being a plus-sized woman (and it's not like I'm massive, just a curvy size 16)...she acted as if she had never done a Brazilian before! She asked me whether I wanted a landing strip and when I said yes, she asked me which direction I wanted it to go in. Huh? Then she asked me "how far down" I wanted her to wax. Um....all the way, I said, baffled. She asked me to be specific....at this point the devil in me wanted to bark "just man up and wax my damn taint and anus, Lisa!" but her obvious discomfort made me uneasy and I just talked her through how to do a Brazilian. Bizarre. Toward the end of the wax she told me that she was just going to give me a modified bikini wax and charge me less. WHY? A clue, perhaps, lay in how she spent the entire session complaining about her business and her clients, etc (when she wasn't acting confused about how to wax my pretty standard lady bits). So yeah, the whole thing was unpleasant and awkward from start to finish. And really made me miss my brusque Russian lady in NYC who would bark out orders and efficiently remove the whole shebang in record time. read more

Very Rude! May be racist. The receptionist was very welcoming and asked me if I would like a drink and took my coat to hang it up. Lisa was very Rude! Is not welcoming, does not greet the customer. Very mundane and does not explain the process for new customers. I made an appointment to get a Brazilian and she was afraid to even say the word vagina. She is a very cold person and does not seem too excited about what she does. Would NEVER go there for services again. Needs to take a class on customer service and learn from her employees what making a customer feel warm and welcomed is all about. read more

I had a groupon for this place, and I would never go back again. Yes, it is clean but the owner (Lisa) is hard to deal with. Lisa called me, to change my scheduled appointment time to an early time due to a cancelation that day. Therefore, I arrived early but I just sat there. I sat there for over 30 mins, what a waste of my time. So her time is more valuable than mine? I'm paying her, what a joke. On top of that, I didn't receive an apology. Additionally while getting wax, she asked me about my previous experiences and insist that all the other salons waxed me wrong (uhhh I get waxed ALOT, like 10 times a year alot)...it was strange that she made me TURN around on the wax table..she should have been the one to move. Lisa is incredibly thorough, does not rush and her prices are very affordable especially considering the quality of her work! I get my brows done here regularly and have gotten some other services from time to time and she always does a great job. The shop is unassuming from the outside but very nice and relaxing on the inside. I will NEVER step foot in this place. I stopped in one day to make an appointment but the door was locked from the outside so I just went back to my car. While in my car about to start my car up, a woman steps out and rudely asked me if I was trying to "get in her building" as if I was breaking in (LOL). I politely said yes and said I was looking to get waxed. She curtly exclaimed that they "are by appointment only". I had a terrible experience here. Maybe the esthetician was just having a bad day, but no matter how you wax it... it was bad. She was unfriendly, rough, and non communicative. I've gotten countless brazilian waxes in my life at countless salons ( I move often), so I was shocked and embarrassed when I had to ask, "what about my behind?" She was curt ant told me that would be an extra $15. Are you kidding me? I've never heard of such a thing. That is a brazilian!! I don't want to get into the details of why that is completely ridiculous, but if you know what a brazilian is then you can imagine. I felt I was forced to pay her extra fee for the second half of my service or go home half waxed. So I did, and then she did that thing a good waxer never does. She asked me to get on all fours. after many botched eyebrow jobs and a nightmare experience at threading I googled eyebrow waxing in Buffalo and came across get waxed. With half of my eyebrow gone I figured it couldn't get any worse so I called and made an appointment. When I walked in I was so happy to see that it was a small locally owned business and that the owner was going to do my brows, the place is beautifully decorated and soothing music plays as you get your service done. My first appointment Lisa asked what look I was going for and after I told her she told me how she was going to help me achieve that look over my next few appointments.I soon became addicted now I also get my brows tinted to that they appear fuller after my many previous botched eyebrow jobs they are thinner than they once were. She measured my eyebrows perfect width apart and my arch is on point!! I have revered my cousin, aunt, mother, and bring my 17 year old sister with me every time I go. Lisa is so friendly and funny and really knows how to run a business and I would highly recommend anyone visit her.
