In over 10 years, this is the best eyebrow shaping that I've had. I went to Julie for a first time shape. Plan your visit because they take their time to really make sure everything is perfect. $35 for your initial shaping and then $25 after that. Considering I would pay $10 for a bad wax at any nail salon, this really isn't asking too much, especially because you don't have to go back for 2 months. I highly recommend this studio. Every month, I see Shianne for the lunch box. She makes this experience quick and easy. The salon has a very comfortable and chill vibe, which is very important because getting a Brazilian can be slightly nerve wrecking. Shianne truly knows what she is doing and actually makes the entire waxing experience fun! My first wax was done at European waxing center, and it was awful. I went to Shianne's for the second wax because I had heard great things about the salon, and I am so happy I made this decision. Shianne is able to do the entire wax in about 10 minutes, and she makes such good conversation and jokes the whole time, so you barely even notice that she's ripping your hair out! I've been hesitating to write this review, because I truly believe people can have off days, and I hope that is what happened when I visited Shianne a few months ago...I literally can't get the most bizarre waxing experience out of my head. I made an appointment with Shianne after seeing her rave YELP reviews. The girl that normally waxes me had no last minute appointments (Shianne did-red flag #1) and I stepped into the Elmwood avenue house turned waxing studio on a nice breezy Buffalo afternoon. The studio was under some sort of construction. I checked in with some girl on her ipad or MacBook and she told me to wait a few minutes Shianne would be right with me. I asked to use the bathroom, she pointed in the direction and said "sorry were getting some work done here and there isn't a door". I'm like ok this is so weird I'm peeing in a bathroom with no door and there are people a few feet away from me. I hope they don't look.... Then I get in the room for my Brazilian wax. Shianne is NOT wearing gloves. She is touching everything you have to touch when you get a Brazilian with BARE hands. I didn't watch her hands at first, so I didn't realize it, and by the time I did she was 1/2 done and I'm just NOT the person to complain about the things in the moment. I WISH I did. I wish I was more brave in that moment. During the wax she mentions how my boyfriend should come and watch "Yeah they think it's so hot". WTF you nut job, NO my boyfriend doesn't want to watch my 20 minutes of agony while you rip hot wax off of me in my most sensitive areas. Finally it is over. She sticks her UNGLOVED hand into a big jar of coconut oil and proceeds to hand it to me to rub down there. I gladly accept- with a half smile- and then as quickly as possible rub it into a paper towel and get changed. I can't even imaging how many germs are floating around in there. I leave, they're nice and ask if I want to make an appointment. I do not and leave. I get home, 2 days later not only am I EXTREMELY bruised but I also have a whole bunch of inflamed follicles (likely from not having properly sanitized products and not using gloves). During my appointment she asked "did you take Motrin? are you on your period?" basically trying to make excuses for the poor job she did and my excessive bruising/redness. I am sorry that I had this negative experience, and I literally cannot believe all of these 5 star reviews. Shianne, I am sure some of your customers love you, but PLEASE wear gloves and PLEASE practice better technique. I have NEVER had bruising, folliculitis, or ungloved hands during any of my waxing experiences and I will never return to this establishment. read more

UPDATE: I'm keeping my good review - Shiane IS so wonderful, but I'm going to have to bring it down to 4 stars after getting a Brazilian at another place. Don't get me wrong - Shiane is funny, personable, knows her stuff, and all around a great business owner. I LOVE her spot! But I didn't like that when I went home I still had wax on me. I had to go to Sally's and get wax remover and use it on my vagina and the back - and you should never leave a salon with wax on you. To me, the experience was great, so removing wax was no big deal at first. It was my first wax in a while, I was her last client, maybe she was rushing a little bit. Second thing - no gloves were used. I'm not a germaphobe or anything, but because of this she couldn't get in the nook and crannies, and probably why I still had wax left over. Again, it was my first wax after a while so I expected some hair. Third - if you have sensitive skin I would skip on the coconut oil. I had so many itchy bumps after, maybe from clogged pores? I would've preferred she used a wax remover or a calming serum or lotion. My recent waxer went into the nooks and crannies, and I mean hands all up in there to make sure she gets ALL the hairs. She even pulled out an ingrown! She used a soothing lotion or serum afterwards. Yes it took longer than Shiane, but sometimes you gotta take your time. I would still recommend this place - but for the price I would urge her to take her time if needed and wear gloves. Salon: Laid back, artsy, good music, clean and well kept. You can tell that Shianne and her staff take pride and joy in how attractive the place looks. I never got any of the fake smiles, or exaggerated welcomes. Everyone there was so kind, genuine, and beautiful! Shianne: I got a Brazilian - 6 months pregnant and all! I've gotten them before but it's been a while. I believe she used a cream wax which I prefer. It sticks to my hair better and there is not much tension when it is pulled from the skin (vs the polymer based waxed) Its been over a year, and she got every hair - I was as smooth as milk dud! She got all the hairs, but she asked if I was okay, and if I needed a break at a few times...but she was so quick that I didn't feel I needed one. She is wonderful to talk to, quite fun and genuine and I can tell she has been doing this a while. I absolutely LOVE being waxed by her. Despite getting the hair ripped out of my vagina, she made it as pleasant, comfortable and wonderful as possible. I was sprayed with a solution and I rubbed it in afterwards, and she gave a little coconut oil to rub in as well. Before I left she gave me a few do's and dont's, and was very very kind to me even though I was the last person there. I never was made to feel like I was a burden or anything because they were closing in 15 minutes. I recommend her. She's great, skilled, fun and thorough! Price: A little pricey, but I prefer this waxing experience instead of European Wax Center. I feel that she has so much more experience and she knows what to do with MY hair type, and MY skin type. It's not some business standard she learned at a corporate school (although I know she's well trained and versed, as you can see in her work) I recommend her! Shianne is the most amazing wax artist I have ever had. She will not let you walk out of the shop without your request (from eye brows to Brazilian) perfect down to the last hair. I have also had a facial and manicure with the other ladies at her shop and it is always comfortable, fun, and relaxing. If you are not sure if you're ready to book an appointment, at least stop in and see her amazing rock and roll themed shop with record/piano key floors and a guitar shaped toilet lid! Yes I live in Rochester and yes I drive to buffalo to get my eyebrows done... religiously because shianne knows how to work a brow - you never have to tell her how much bc she will never over wax/ pluck and will often leave some hairs to give others chance to grow in for s fuller brow look. She's funny, always makes you feel at ease, and has a whacky personality that everyone can't help but love. Omg five stars just doesn't cut it! This was my first experience professionally and I wanted to find a place that felt comfortable and did a great job! Boy did I! I found Shianne's via Google, by the grace of God! Everyone is extremely friendly and the space is completely eclectic! It's not stuffy or pretentious like other "spa" or waxing studios and you're immediately at ease the second you walk in. I was seen right away and it took no more than 30 mins. The studio was very clean and bright inside. The whole process was very painless and Shianne, the owner, is very down to earth. When I moved back to Buffalo two years ago, a friend of mine referred me to Shianne after having been disappointed with other spas. I have been going to Shianne ever since. Shianne is an expert at shaping brows and will never leave them too thin-which I have found many estheticians to do. Although my skin reddens easily, I never leave Shianne's with irritated/splotchy skin; any redness that occurs-which happens rarely- diminishes rapidly. She truly cares about her customers and is personable and awesome to be around. read more

I loved it here! Everything about the experience was 5 stars, from booking all the way to the results. I booked my appointment for a brow shaping online, and I was able to reschedule it through a link on the appointment reminder email. I arrived at 10 and was immediately welcomed by Shianne who served me coffee while we waited for the wax to finish warming up. Despite this being my first appointment, Shianne treated me like a friend or long term client. The vibe at the studio was super cool and she is so bubbly (but not in the fake way), even when sleep deprived. As far as the wax went, she was absolutely meticulous when it came to shaping my brows and even gave me an introduction to filling them. Thanks to her handiwork, my left eyebrow is now my favorite feature, followed closely by my right eyebrow. I will definitely be back! read more

So I came in today for my FIRST EVER Brazilian wax. 1. Yes it hurts. If it's the first one, IT WILL HURT. Expect that. And it costs 65. Idk if you think that's expensive but that's what it is. 2. The salon is very cute. I walked in and was a bit overwhelmed though, because there were a few people sitting around, but then they cleared out. The receptionist gave me a form to fill out and Shianne came by offering a mimosa. Waxes AND DRANKS? Yes, mamas, come thru. 3. I had an appointment with Julie- she is an ABSOLUTE FUCKING GEM. I told her it was my first wax and she made me feel soooo comfortable. She let me pick what music I wanted to listen to-Beyoncé of course (great choice because the girls at Shianne's thinks she's as great as I do)- and let my friend come in the room too. She's never had one either and wanted to see what it was like. She went in the back and put on a very Single Ladies inspired pony tail and got to work. While it hurts, Julie, along with my friend, made it tolerable and almost fun. I'm def planning on making my next appointment here with Julie. read more

I went to Shianne a few weeks ago and am extremely disappointed after reading all the other reviews... my appointment was at 1 and Shianne didn't arrive until 1:30.. she discounted my service $20 for the inconvenience. As far as personality she was super friendly and definitely made me feel comfortable but she lacked in attention to detail. I booked the honeymoon package which is usually $160. She immediately told me she couldn't do my lower legs because the hair was "too short". my Brazilian area was still fine and so were my underarms. She then wanted to show me that my legs wouldn't be ok and she waxed off some hair on my upper legs,but was shocked when she got a good amount off... which is because i exfoliated daily before. She continued to do my upper legs and still left a ton of hair there. She Then finished with my underarms. Shianne asked if i was planning on just shaving the rest or if i wanted to return another day, and i said i possibly might just shave and wasn't sure...I don't know if me saying that gave her the idea to do a shit job everywhere else or what? I went to get waxed for the sole purpose of not having to shave while on vacation. When I arrived home I noticed that there were no smooth areas, including my entire Brazilian, legs and underarm areas after being charged $100 and tipping $20. I feel as though I completely wasted my money. My Brazilian area and my underarms still had a ton of hair. Additionally I had some wax strips at home that I ended up using on my lower legs and everything came off on the first try, so she was entirely wrong about my lower legs.. She kept raving about being the best in buffalo, but I find that very difficult to believe after my experience. Maybe she was having an off day or was in a hurry, but she wasted both my time and my money so I would not recommend going to her. read more
