Reliant Towing recently performed a non-consensual tow of my two vehicles from my apartment complex during a routine, non-emergency parking lot maintenance project. Not only did they fail to verify that residents were given proper statutory notice, but they also completely violated Austin City Code Section 13-6-6 by failing to report the tow to the local police or 311 dispatch within the mandatory 45-minute window. When I called Austin 311 to track down my missing vehicles, the city had absolutely zero record of the tow because Reliant never reported it. To make matters worse, instead of taking my vehicles to a licensed Vehicle Storage Facility as required by Texas state law, they illegally relocated them to an completely unauthorized property down the street and left me entirely in the dark. An official complaint has been filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for these severe compliance violations. If you are a property manager looking for a reputable contractor, stay far away from this company unless you want massive legal liabilities. They have knowledge of this because they give kickbacks to the apartment complex's and use the "R2" parking app to track cars currently at the residence. I can't believe a business like this is allowed to operate. Our car was towed from our apartment with no warning, and when we tried to call to find out where to retrieve it, they put us on hold eight different times instead of providing the basic information we needed. When we finally arrived at the remote pickup location, we were completely ignored even though Aida (the person behind the glass) could clearly see us. After trying to make eye contact and waving politely, we eventually resorted to lightly knocking on the window because we were stranded and our Uber had already left. Aida then yelled at us through the window, saying she didn't care if we waited all night and that it wasn't her problem. I want to highlight that it was around 11:15 PM, and we are two women alone. The area was very shady, and we were genuinely scared to be out there by ourselves. After she yelled, she walked away again. The whole time we were standing in full view, and she continued to ignore us on purpose. We kept hearing movement and rattling in the bushes by the patio, which made everything feel even more unsafe. We even called the office again hoping she would at least speak to us over the phone and give us an ETA, but as soon as she realized the call was coming from us, she hung up. It took over an hour for her to release our vehicle, even though there were no other customers waiting. What really shocked us was that she then assisted people who arrived after us, who happened to be white, immediately and without hostility. The difference in treatment was extremely noticeable and made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. This entire experience was unsafe, unprofessional, and discriminatory. On the night of September 18, 2025, I called Reliant Towing and was told by a representative that my vehicle would be released for $243.85 so long as I arrived before 10:00 AM the next morning. I arrived at 9:45 AM on September 19, 2025, only to be told by Mr. Mark that the fee was actually $259.21. When I asked him to explain the difference and cite the "state law" he claimed required the higher charge, he refused and told me to "look it up." He also said he didn't know who had worked the night before, leaving me with no accountability for the misinformation I received. They said that their policy doesn't allow paper plates, however, I had had no issues for two weeks up to that point. I forgot to update our apartment complex parking portal when I got new TX plates (we drove from out-of-state) and my car was towed Sunday evening a few weeks after I put them on. I found out Monday morning after talking to apartment management that it was towed by Reliant Towing. My husband and I were horrified after reading reviews so we were on-edge and super nervous to pick up my car. I left work early and we took ann Uber over there around 1PM on a Monday a few days before Xmas. To our surprise, the lady at the counter was very polite and professional, with no issues. I showed my ID and paid. Then she opened the gate so I could go pick up my car.
