No thanks. I asked our realtor Fred Foley for his advice and he suggested a small family owned A/C company in Mesa with a clever name. Johnny Cools. The owner came out, evaluated our system, determined 1/2 of the items the other company recommended were unnecessary and said they could do the essentials and save us about 2/3rds. The following week the technician came out, was here about 2 hours and our A/C now works excellently. In addition we also asked for a whole system replacement quote, for the day the AC quits and we had to replace it. John (Where the name Johnny Cools comes from) gave us three quotes. Two were for the whole system replacement (better and best) and the third one was just for the outside unit. As part of the service where the technician replaced many parts in our air handler and he said it was his belief the air handler was sufficiently upgraded (new blower motor and a couple of other parts) that it would work well with a new 14 SEER outside unit with a 10 year parts warranty. The quote was very reasonable. (2018) Today (2019) YELP just reminded me I failed to post my 2018 comments, so in addition to the prior comments Yesterday I asked Johnny Cools to revise the outside unit quote since our system is 14 years old and we are probably on borrowed time. While we have used a couple of the large high visibility AC companies in the past w/o issues but working with a smaller individual owned business has distinct advantages including a very personal business approach. Now let's get into the story. I ended up coming home and my air-conditioning was broken for at least a day and a half. I called company A ( not naming for respect purposes) and they ended up quoting me $2300 to fix one little crack in a copper pipe, and to refill the Freon. I knew something was wrong so I decided that I would call a different company to compare the quotes. After speaking with Air Force One, they told me that that was way out of proportion, and that they could offer me a better price. Linda told me on the phone twice that Scott was the best in the business and he is the best at what he does. I told her I was going to hold her accountable for saying that and she was right. Scott is the most honest, caring, helpful, and kind spirited HVAC service man you will know. He was nice enough to let me come on top of the roof and see exactly what he was doing because I wanted to learn a little bit about the air conditioning unit. He has been fixing air conditioning since high school and that should tell you a lot about the experience he has. After everything they ended up quoting us $774 and saving us $1500... I know it's disgusting that the other company was going to charge us $2300. Overall, I just have to say that air force one air conditioning is that one company that I just so happen to call that turned out to be the best experience in the world and Scott and Linda truly are a power couple and I have so much respect for all the work and service they do for the valley. She answered my questions and set me up with an appointment to talk to the owner Kendall. April, being the professional and friendly person that she is, will either answer the phone right away, or she will call back asap, or text the same day. Great customer service. Kendall came out and completed a thorough inspection, including photos of my attic air handler and ductwork. I was very impressed. I also asked about moving my attic hatch, which is in my master bedroom closet, to the hallway. He told me that was a possibility. Today is the day of my install. My installers, Alex, Jesus and Orlando, took such good care of my home. Regarding the ceiling hatch: Alex explained that as long as there are no pipes or running wires the hatch can be opened in the hallway. No pipes, no wiring! And no more going through my closet to get into the attic. The hatch is also closer to the air handler unit. Looks great. The installation of my new air conditioning unit went so smoothly. Alex explained each process to me and had no problem answering my many questions. He and his crew are easy to talk to and they are not only polite, but professional. They made sure everything was clean and spotless before they left. The price for my Trane unit was better than I expected. Cam-Air has been repairing, maintaining, and sometimes replacing HVAC units in my rental property and in my private residences, each of which have multiple units, since 2020. Their service is always efficient, professional, fairly-priced, and friendly. Most recently, the owner himself showed up on a blistering Sunday evening when it seemed the A/C in the new house we'd just moved into had failed. He checked the unit (which is on the roof. An asphalt roof.), determined the problem was with a programmable thermostat which was still tied to the previous owner's settings. (Who knew that could happen?) Adam got the thermostat up and running and synced with an app on our phones, and did another test of the system (yes, another trip to the asphalt roof. In the dark. In 100 degree weather) and we are again cool and comfortable. The A/C unit is a Trane, but the previous owner had installed a 'rescue motor'. Adam was able to check the serial number and determined the unit is out of warranty (alas). They've sent an estimate to replace the rescue motor for a Trane motor, and, as always, they keep the records with the serial numbers and the warranty info on all my units. This is a small business who earns our trust and loyalty every time we call, they never upsell and give sober, knowledgeable recommendations regarding whether it's better to replace or repair. I especially recommend them for landlords who will understand the issues when a tenant's A/C goes out in the middle of summer, and the difficulty of getting reliable workmen out to make the repairs in a timely manner.
