Hip little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I saw their canned cold brew in another shop and decided to look it up. Happily found that it was a local company and so I had to drop by and give it a shot. The staff was very friendly, greeting us when we arrived and then offering a sample to help me decide between cold brews. I ended up getting the nitro, which was mild and smooth like I like it. The coffee flavor was ok for me, but I prefer a smidge stronger. My wife ordered a chai and she enjoyed it. She's mentioned that she's had some from elsewhere with more flavor as well. I had to remove at least one star because coffee and the atmosphere still great but staffing not so welcoming I felt like I'm an outcast every time I come here. But when other people come in, they greet them with a big smile but when I come in, they went silent. One time when I was called for my name is said "yay thank you!" They all walk away with no response. I felt a little awkward because this is not the first time it happen to me. Ever since Covid their attitude just went different. I love this coffee company. They really care about the source of their coffee and also their customers. They have a variety of local pastries that includes a gf assortment. They pair of with local restaurants to do pairings (for example their coffee is a flavor in a local restaurants negroni for negroni week). I think my favorite part though is the welcoming neighborhood vibe. read more

I've been meaning to say this for some time now. The passion for coffee at this place radiates, from the quality of beverages to the service to the atmosphere. Nary an "i" without a dot, nary a "t" without a cross. Believe me, I checked. This is my favorite place for whole bean coffee in the Vancouver/Portland area. I grind fresh beans daily, temp the water and brew it pour over , so I've become pretty particular when it comes to whole bean coffee. With that as context and if that might also sound a smidge like you, let me just say: Their whole bean selection is on some sort of divine spectrum. Yeah, I'm serious. The flavors of their coffees are exquisite and alive. Once more: exquisite and alive. The sourcing brings a lovely variety, from Ethiopian to Costa Rican to Guatemalan to Mexican to Brazilian to... okay I think you get the point. Then they nail it on the dome with the roasting: artfully consistent, always fresh. They don't over- roast or otherwise abuse the beans, they really just bring the best out of those sweet, precious babes by loving them tenderly. First and foremost: Relevant is incredible. I have been here over 30 times and their staff has the BIGGEST smiles, are always willing to make sure their customers are happy, and the place is extremely clean. A lot of reviewers find the noise level frustrating, so obviously they are coming in at extremely popular times when the place is packed. I tend to come here around 9am to work on my laptop, and my AirPods give plenty of noise resistance and they're not even a noise cancelling product. I've been here on a Saturday when everybody and their mom is getting coffee, and I'll admit, it's a little challenging to hear a friend speaking at a normal level, but that's common in any poppin' coffee joint. The coffee is delicious, and so are their teas. I commonly get a peppermint tea, a London fog, or a iced vanilla latte: all good. read more

Good iced Coffee, meh mocha syrup for the mocha. This coffee shop is beautiful inside, light, airy and fresh vibe. Order takers and barista with the beard, all super friendly. The other barista working on a Tuesday late morning should stop the lemon sucking attitude and go get that rectal stick-ectomy. Weekly customers. We love patronizing coffee roasters, as the coffee always seems to taste better because it's much fresher. We always get a mocha breve. Great coffee taste (not burnt). They use chocolate from Ranger Chocolate in Portland (and Ranger Chocolate aka Cup & Bar sells Relevent coffee & their Cold Brew). They also sell locally baked pastries, which are also delicious. This place has killer coffee. I thought it was going to be one of those coffee places that tastes great until the business gets going, then they skimp on product and the coffee becomes weak like Starbucks. No such issue there. The coffee is still great, they offer yummy flavors that many places don't offer. The orange coffee was surprisingly great. During the early covid months, they set up a booth in front of their business which was great if you have a stroller or dog. They have since moved back inside as many businesses have which makes it impossible to go in if you have a small army of tiny people and canines. I wish they offered a window service for people that can't make it inside because I would love to buy their coffee but with a double stroller I will simply never fit through the door. read more

I walked into order a coffee with my dog who is a therapy service dog for a VPS school. She puts in a long day helping kids. She was wearing a a ESA vest and on a break with me. She is very well behaved and I was only ordering a coffee not sitting down. I was told typically dogs are not allowed. I will not go back. My first experience at Relevant Coffee was definitely memorable. From the moment I walked in, the baristas were really friendly (but not overbearing like some places where the introvert in me trembles). I don't drink coffee so they were super kind and helped me find a drink that'd fit best and the oat milk chai was KILLER. These baristas really know their stuff. They have Ranger chocolate and vanilla syrup which is noticeably tastier than the average Torani or Monin. Although there isn't too much seating, if you can snag a table it's a great place to work. The music is really great and not loud like it is in most coffee shops. The WiFi is solid. The interior is really neat. They have a wall of tattoo designs which gets switched out every first Friday of the month which is super cool. The barista offered me a peppermint mocha on the house and as someone who hates coffee, I was pleasantly surprised and almost finished it completely. I'm impressed. Amazing coffee. Amazing specials. Amazing people. I enjoy coming here to sit in their cozy and cute atmosphere and drink my coffee and any baked good that I may have gotten. Something else that I like about Relevant is that they support small bakery businesses in Vancouver by partnering up with them for their services. One thing that I will say needs improvement is their timeliness; I need to receive my coffee within my designated break and I usually go in on my lunch, however, even with 30 minutes, the time that it takes for the coffee to be finished is beyond average. One of my go-to coffee shops in Vancouver. I always come here to study, the ambiance is very nice and there is a lot of natural light. I always get the lattes and it is amazing. Not too sweet but not super bitter. The maple latte is worth a try! Service is excellent, workers are very nice. I like that it is one of the coffee shops that open later. I love Relevant! I love everything from the coffee, cafe atmosphere to the staff/baristas that work there. Their cold brew, lattes, other beverages, and baked goods (from Shoofly Bakery in Portland) are awesome! 5-stars! They are a must visit for any serious amateur coffee drinker, coffee aficionado, or coffee expert who lives in Clark County or Portland metro area. I have tried several other coffee roasters in the area and Relevant always is up to par or exceeds other coffee roasters in taste and customer service. They have a few new staff members who are learning the ropes- but I assure you there is always an experienced barista/staff member around who will make sure your needs are met. read more

Example #2 of how much Vancouver has changed since I've moved away for several years: reasonably priced artisan coffee on main street that isn't Mon Amie! Popped in here due to the cool logo I saw on yelp, and was pleased with the product! I had the house drip and the flavor was smooth but not bland, bold but not powerful. Didn't need to put anything in it but I like to so I did anyway. I got to sample the espresso my dad ordered and I want to come back and have that next time. Seems like they have a great assortment of beans you can buy and other rad merch. I wish they had a location in San Diego! read more

This place is the best. The staff is genuinely great and not extra like they've just successfully completed the official corporate personality training. The chai here is the best I've ever had. If you're tired of the typical sticky syrupy "chai-flavored beverage" with too much sugar and cloves, try this place. It actually tastes like tea. UPDATE: An obsessive friend of mine roasts his own coffee (seriously, ain't nobody got time for that) so to annoy him, I send him bags of evil pre-roasted store-bought coffee from shops I like.
