Summary at the end…read more Went to Ron's to drop my truck off for an alignment and to take the strut spacers off. Ron's told my husband they would have to charge for an inspection (don't remember getting a price), the alignment was going to be about $100, and we didn't get a price on taking the strut spacers off. We get a call later in the day saying the alignment is done and it's as aligned as it's going to get and it's going to be $170 for the alignment and that they didn't take the spacers off because it was going to be $1000 to remove the spacers. To better assist customers, they should have called us before doing the alignment if they knew or even had a hunch they wouldn't be taking the spacers off. We were told they were going to charge us 170$ plus $140 for inspection. On top of that, we have to get a new alignment after getting our spacers off since you're supposed to take spacers off first. In hindsight, we should have read yelp reviews instead of Google reviews because there were reviews of people with similar experiences. So we took my truck to Trickles and they quoted us about 600 for the strut spacers and the new alignment. We went back to Ron's and told them our situation hoping they would be understanding and they said they'll only charge us for the inspection so they charged us $147. We were also informed at the checkout process that they weren't familiar with spacers/lift kits on ford trucks, which is fine, but I just wish we would have known that before dropping our keys off with them. I'm just very disappointed in the lack of communication because we didn't need the work they did if they weren't going to take the strut spacers off. I wish we were told before they proceeded with the repairs. Summary: They should have called us after the inspection and told us the combined cost of the strut spacer removal AND the alignment. Instead they did just the alignment even though we'll have to get another one after strut spacers are removed. I give it three stars because I appreciate not having to pay for the alignment but I did not have a good time, definitely didn't want to pay $147 just to have to take my truck somewhere else. The alignment and inspection is reasonably priced if you're not getting it for no reason.

Dave called the car rental company, who told us we had a full spare in the trunk, and that they'd send someone to change the tire. We checked the trunk and found a donut tire, not a full size spare. We didn't want to drive on the interstate with that tire, so we cancelled the service call from the rental company. Fortunately, someone recommended Marlie's. We called them forty minutes before they closed and they were so nice! They told us to come by so they could take a look at the tire They removed the screw, patched our tire, and only charged $30. Plus, we had a really nice conversation while we waited. As a bonus, they recommended dinner at Seneca Street Saloon. We ordered pizza, and it was delicious! Marlie's is the best!

Like any terrible relationship, I have the feeling that if I bring up one, small, issue they will utilize that to open a can of worms and take all my money and then I'll leave. ...Wow. That analogy works really well but hits a little hard. ANYWAY. Eastman's has restored my faith in a healthy relationship. Car-wise. I'm working on the other stuff. I have been to this shop a few times because its location is near my work, but I will continue going there because of their honesty, dedication to service, and customer satisfaction. Every time I have been here they have always been AMAZING at being forthright. In one instance, their technicians looked over my vehicle and Larry (the owner) told me that...although they could do the work, to scout around. It may be more cost effective to go to a shop that specializes in what I had going on. (AMAZING. A place that's honest and will take a customer's well-being over a credit card swipe). Another example is when I went there in the morning and asked if they could look at my battery. I could pick up my car later in the d... NOPE. Larry walked out with me. Looked it over. Grabbed a wrench. And fixed my issue within 5 minutes! When I asked the charge he, clearly joking, said, "I dunno...five bucks...?" (I did give him that $5). When my battery acted up again though, he was still there. He ran tests on it. We couldn't find the problem, and he apologize (which - I think it was a fluke...I haven't had an issue since) but he did recharge it for me. He also didn't actively seek to find other areas of improvement. He said there were more tests he could do but said, those take more time and are more expensive. We should see if this was just a one-off (it was) before going through all of that. His shop has probably saved me 100's of dollars. Honesty. Honesty is huge when building a rapport with customers and retention. Of course, quality technicians and work is required and Eastman's has that as well. I don't know much about cars so I can't really speak on technique. I just know this: When I need something fixed.. They fix it. It doesn't mess up again. (or) Eastman's will give me honest answers, recommend other avenues to resolve a problem (and) Charge fairly or just ask for $5.00.

DO NOT COME TO THIS JIFFY LUBE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BLACK OR BROWN)…read more I usually don't write reviews, but this needs to be shared. On April 4th, I went in for a consultation on my car's starter and ignition because it would not start consistently. I was quoted 125 for the diagnosis and told it was for an hour of work. I agreed to the fee and sat in the waiting room for 25-30 minutes before my car was pulled to the front. I was called up and told my car was not working because of my key (I lost it 9 months ago and have been starting it weirdly, but it has not caused any problems). I was told the starter and the ignition were checked in that short amount of time. Since it was not even close to a full hour of work, I asked if I could speak to the manager for a discount for the half service. About 10 minutes passed, and another employee named James came out and said, "If you do not pay the full fee, we will call the police." After that comment, the manager gave me a discount for the inconvenience, and since my car started after that whole situation, I paid and left. The next afternoon, my car would not start at all. Since I did not feel comfortable returning to Jiffy Lube for a solution, I called around to some family and other mechanics and ultimately decided it was the starter, even though I was told my starter was fine. Since it would cost around 600 anywhere called, I decided to fix it myself. After about three days of getting the tools and working on the car, I finally changed the starter, and guess what... MY CAR STARTED! So that means the starter was the problem the whole time. After calling twice to see exactly what the notes were on the diagnosis of my car, I was told there were no notes of the service, but the starter was checked. I then asked for a refund because it was apparent nothing was done to my car the first time I came in. After trying to resolve this internally with the employees, I had to go to corporate after zero communication from JL. I reported this situation to the corporate, and after a week of "investigation", the owner of the Ames JL said, "Repairs were refused by the customer." I call corporate again to reinstate communication between me and the owner. The owner called me today and was highly disrespectful after telling him the entire situation. He told me he could do nothing because he felt JL did their jobs... I was perplexed because there was no indication or note in their system that anything had been done to my car. He is just going off of the words of his workers. While I commend him for sticking by his workers, something shady is obviously going on. A good manager/owner would own up to the misdoings of his staff and rectify the situation. Instead, I was met with disrespect and gaslighting. I was not given a refund, and I was given a halved-assed apology. I thank them for the discount, but if James didn't say that dumb shit, I would have been out 125 dollars. if anyone reads this, I hope you never cross paths with these buck tooth, hilly-billy, backwater ass mechanics. And to JL, this is not over.
